Independent wrestler Jaka (Jonathan Echevarria) has passed away. We had previously reported that he was in the ICU following a heart attack and unfortunately he didn’t make it. He had been working since 2007 and in his time had worked for Beyond Wrestling, EVOLVE, Full Impact Pro, CHIKARA and many others, including doing work with WWE for WrestleMania Axxess and AEW on Dark Elevation. Our condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

Madhouse Wrestling out of Iowa filed a ‘WrestleWar’ trademark. The name was also used by NWA & WCW from 1989-92, so it’s entirely likely that WWE will file an opposition to the mark given that they bought and own the WCW assets. In fact it would be entirely within their history of recycling WCW assets to name a NXT event after it to assert their ownership of said mark.

Toni Storm says she had creative freedom in WWE: “Well here’s the thing, this is where I get stuck on it. If the WWE – I don’t think I was told what to do enough. I wasn’t told to do anything actually. I wasn’t told like, I mean, obviously you were told what to do under certain circumstance. But overall like, I don’t feel like I was told what to do enough. I was very lost. I mean like I knew there was direction in things like ‘this is how you do it, this is what you do on television, cameras.’ As in regards to a character? No, I was never like, I mean they write promos but like I was – I just did it. Wasn’t really told ‘do this, today you’re a cat and your names Tori bloody Smith. No one told me anything and I kept my name the whole time and it was like I had complete creative freedom to be honest, some where others didn’t and others were given things. It’s so much so a very difficult thing to grasp. I wish they would, I would have done anything to be honest. That’s the weird thing about this if they had just given me some mad off the wall thing, I would have 100% gone with it. This is like therapy!”
