WWE WrestleMania 42 Sunday Recap – THREE New Champions! Punk vs. Reigns! Oba vs. Brock! The Demon vs. Dirty Dom!

WrestleMania is here again on Sunday for night two in Las Vegas! Tonight’s main event is a heated rivalry between Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns challenging CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. Jade Cargill will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley. Penta defends his Intercontinental Championship in a 6-way Ladder Match! Also, Oba Femi takes on Brock Lesnar, the United States Title is on the line when Trick Williams challenges Sami Zayn, there will be a “Demon” sighting as Finn Bálor takes on Dominik Mysterio, and John Cena is the host! The live recap of WrestleMania Sunday starts with the pre-show at 3 PM ET/2 Central on social media, and the main premium live event at 6 PM ET with the first hour airing on ESPN, and the rest of the show on ESPN Unlimited (USA) and Netflix (worldwide). Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

IT’S WRESTLEMANIA 42 BACK IN VEGAS! We get the opening video package presented by Lin-Manuel Miranda again, this time we get hype packages for tonight’s matches. John Cena is back for the second night to do his hosting duties. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are back on commentary. Cena is hyped up for an historic night two, saying we’ve already made history with WrestleMania airing live on ESPN. “Which means we’ve gotta start with something big. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to WrestleMania!!” We get a shot at the stage for a pyrotechnic display.

Oba Femi is the first man out for night two. Tyrese Halliburton and George Kittle are in the crowd again, and Kittle has a beer in his hand already. Will he chug several cups like last night? Oba has aura with the live crowd! Brock Lesnar heads out with Paul Heyman accomanying him, Brock doesn’t take his eyes off of Oba, and Oba never takes his eyes off of Brock. Paul Heyman introduces his Beast first, Alicia Taylor does the official ring announcement for The Ruler, and Chad Patton is the referee assigned to this match.

* Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar

The bell dings, they lock up collar-and-elbow, and neither man budges on a stalemate. They lock up again, Lesnar starts to back him up, but Femi pushes him back. Lesnar powers him into a corner with shoulder thrusts, and Femi shoves him away! Lesnar clotheslines him twice, Femi stays on his feet, and Femi clotheslines him off his feet!! Lesnar exits the ring and looks back at his opponent in shock. Lesnar grabs the steel steps, but holds back and drops them. Femi grabs him, but Lesnar rams his back into the ringpost twice, throws him into the steel steps, and sends him back into the ring. Lesnar delivers a German suplex, a second German suplex, a knee strike, and a third German suplex of the match. Lesnar starts to feel confident, Femi gets to his feet, blocks another suplex, hits a running uppercut in the corner, and another, Lesnar catches him running in, and hits the F5! Lesnar is feeling confident, but Femi is already getting back up to his feet, and plants Lesnar with the CHOKE SLAM!! Oba Femi hits the FALL FROM GRACE, and covers FOR THE 1-2-3!!!! WINNER: OBA FEMI!!

Even Oba Femi looks incredulous that he just defeated Brock Lesnar in a short amount of time! Paul Heyman’s jaw definitely hit the ground. “Oba Femi is the next big thing!” Lesnar finally sits up in the middle of the ring, he takes his gloves off, and removes his wrestling shoes! Lesnar is holding back tears as he leaves his gloves and shoes in the ring and the crowd chants “Thank you Brock! Thank you Brock!” Heyman and Lesnar hugs in the middle of the ring, and Heyman raises his hand for a great career. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are speechless, but the crowd chants “Thank you Lesnar! Thank you Lesnar!” Brock Lesnar honestly looks appreciative for everything as he walks away.

* Intercontinental Championship – Ladder Match: Dragon Lee vs. Rusev vs. JD McDonagh vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Penta {C}

JD starts with a tackle before Penta even gets in the ring, and now he’s underway! Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio and Penta all attack McDonagh in a corner before they all square off. Rusev pulls Rey out the ring and sends him into the steel steps. Penta and Dragon Lee dropkick a ladder into Rusev, but Rusev then hits them both with a ladder. Rusev sets up the ladder bridge onto the English announce table. McDonagh uses a ladder as a weapon against Penta, then Evans hits McDonagh with a high leaping suicide dive! Dragon Lee gives Evans a hurricanrana sending him into McDonagh.

In the ring, Mysterio and Dragon Lee battle it out, Dragon Lee counters a headscissors, Rey counters the Styles Clash, Dragon blocks the 619 and superkicks him. Rusev is in the ring, hits Evans, Penta and Mysterio with a ladder. McDonagh gets in the ring, hits Rusev from behind, but then Rusev back drops him onto the ladder! The crowd chants “Rusev Day” as he climbs a ladder, but Penta scrambles up to cut him off, and drops him with a reverse sling blade off the ladder! Evans climbs up, Pents pulls him down, superkicks him, McDonagh shoves Penta out the ring, climbs up the ladder, Evans climbs up the other side, they fight each other, and Rusev shoves the ladder over making Evans lands on Penta. McDonagh sends Rusev out, climbs up, and Evans drops him with a springboard clothesline!

Dragon Lee is in the ring, Mysterio traps him in between a ladder, trips him onto the ropes, and hits the 619! Evans leaps over Mysterio, climbs the ladder, Mysterio climbs up, Penta is in attacks Evans, Rey gets caught in the ladder, Penta suplexes Evans onto a leaning ladder, and Dragon Lee hits Mysterio with a diving dropkick! Dragon climbs up, Rusev pulls him down, plants him with a Urinage slam, re-positions the ladder, wedges another ladder in the rungs and the middle turnbuckle, and slams Evans onto the horizontal ladder! Penta stops him from climbing up, Rey assists him on the attack, Penta and Mysterio go one-on-one, and Penta launches Mysterio over the ropes for a seated senton sending RUSEV CRASHING THROUGH THE LADDER BRIDGE!!

Mysterio is back in the ring to climb up, Penta cuts him off, Mysterio sends him into the ladder, connects with the 619, goes back up the ladder, Dragon Lee climbs up the other side to stop him, reaches for the title, Rey stops him, they battle it out at the top of the ladder, Rey kicks him down, Dragon grabs his leg, Rey kicks him, dives off, and Dragon counters a hurricanrana with the Styles Clash! Dragon and McDonagh battle on one side of the ladder, and McDonagh delivers a SPANISH FLY OFF THE LADDER!! “This is awesome! This is awesome!” McDonagh climbs up the ladder, Penta cuts him off, they trade shots at the top, McDonagh hooks him up for a suplex, he gets blocked, and PENTA HITS THE MEXICAN DESTROYER ONTO THE LADDER BRIDGE!!

Je’Von Evans is the last man standing! Evans climbs up the ladder, Rusev gets back in the ring, Evans hands off the ladder, Rusev yanks him down and tosses him out the ring. Rusev moves the ladder into position, climbs up, Evans gets on the top of the ringpost, and connects with the OG CUTTER HALFWAY ACROSS THE RING!! Evans struggles back up, Penta hits a STEP-UP MEXICAN DESTROYER TO EVANS, climbs up the ladder, and claims what’s his to retain the title in a successful WrestleMania title defense!! WINNER, and STILL, INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: PENTA!!!

WHAT A MATCH!! That was a fantastic ladder match! Congratulations to Penta for retaining his Intercontinental Title in this match.

We recap earlier from Brock Lesnar’s loss and potential retirement. That ends the hour-long broadcast on ESPN.

Now that we’re fully on the ESPN App, we get a Highlight of the Night recap of the ending to the main event last night. After that we get a promo video for Club WWE. JOP, Rick Rubin, Jahmyr Gibbs, Daniel Cormier and Joe Jonas are in the crowd. The Demon vs. Dominik match is now a street fight as announced on the countdown pre-show.

Sami Zayn heads to the ring first for the next match, and he’s getting a mixed reaction from the crowd. Lil Yachty heads out next to introduce Sami’s opponent. Trick Williams gets a much better reaction with a loud chant of “WHOOP THAT TRICK!” Jason Ayers will be the referee for this match.

* United States Championship: Sami Zayn {C} vs. Trick Williams

The bell dings, they trade punches, Sami ducks a swing, clotheslines him, and the crowd boos him. Sami does the 10-punch in a corner, chops him, springboards over him, clotheslines him out the ring, runs the ropes, Williams clotheslines him twice, blocks the Blue Thunder Bomb, hits a back swing, connects with the jumping neckbreaker and kips up. Williams pulls him up for a Book End, covers for 2, Zayn blocks the Trick Shot with a boot, lands the Blue Thunder Bomb, and gets a near-fall. Zayn stomps him down in a corner, pummels him, the ref backs him up, Lil Yachty checks on his boy, Sami stomps Trick some more, and the crowd boos him again. Zayn attacks Yachty from behind, and throws him into the barricade!

Zayn sends Trick’s head into the ringpost a couple of times, delivers a brainbuster on the apron, and gets back in the ring to a chorus of boos. The referee starts his count, Zayn exits the ring, and hits the Helluva Kick outside the ring! Referee Jason Ayers starts his count, Williams falls down at the count of 7, but gets back in the ring at the count of 9. The ref checks on Williams in a corner, Zayn calls for him to get to his feet, Lil Yachty drops Zayn on the ropes with a hotshot, Williams hits the discus boot, and covers for 2.9! Zayn side-steps the Trick Shot, schoolboy rollup for 2, hits the exploder suplex in the corner, goes for the Helluva Kick, but Williams hits the TRICK SHOT FOR THE 3-COUNT!! WINNER, and NEW, UNITED STATES CHAMPION: TRICK WILLIAMS!!

Trick Williams wins his first WrestleMania match and wins the United States Championship in the process! Sami Zayn sits against the announce table looking dejected and mad. Trick hugs his parents in the front row, then gets back in the ring to celebrate his new title.

George Kittle is shown in the crowd, and Tyrese Halliburton hands him a beer for him to chug. Tony Hinchcliffe is back too, as well as Rob Gronkowski. We then get a split screen of Gronk and Kittle chugging beers!

Dominik Mysterio comes out wearing a mask and riding a chariot. Several extras catch him jumping off the chariot and they walk him down to the ring. Dominik is the AAA Mega Champion, but the title is not on the line, although it’s pretty amazing to see that championship make an appearance at WrestleMania. “The Demon” is back at WrestleMania making a grand entrance!! Dominik kneels behind the announce tables looking worried. Shawn Bennett is the referee for this match.

* Street Fight: “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio {AAA Mega Champion} vs. “The Demon” Finn Bálor
[non-title match]

The bell dings, Dom looks scared, Demon Bálor with a double-leg takedown, Demon clotheslines him, chops him, Dom kicks him, Demon takes him down and stomps him down. Demon clotheslines him on the apron, takes a kendo stick from under the ring and hits him with it. Dominik hits a suicide dive, hits him with the kendo stick, throws him back into the ring, brings out a lot of chairs, hits him in the gut and the back with a chair, then hits the senton atomico. Dom pummels him taking control of this match, sets up two chairs together, calls for a suplex, but Demon counters with a gourdbuster onto the chair, and hits the sling blade! Dominik superkicks him, dropkicks him in the back, hits the 619, goes up top, lands the FROG SPLASH, covers, and Demon kicks out at 1!

Dom takes a chair, Demon ducks the swing, hits a swinging elbow drop, lands the shotgun dropkick, hits another shotgun dropkick, goes up top, Dom avoids the Coup de Grace, hits him in the face with a chair, and covers for a near-fall! Dominik gets a table, slides it into the ring, leans it against the turnbuckles, Demon gets back to his feet, Irish whip reversed, Demon stops short of the table, hits the sling blade, Dom superkicks him, and tosses him through the table!! Dominik hits him in the back with the chair, lays the chair on his face, hits the 619 again, lands another FROG SPLASH, and covers for the 1-2-KICKOUT!

Dominik whacks him on the back with a chair about five times, goes back under the ring for another table, brings that into the ring, and sets it up near a corner. Demon rises to his feet, clotheslines him, whacks him with the chair with aggression, wraps the chair around his head, and hits the shotgun dropkick! Demon lays him across the table, goes up top, hits the COUP DE GRACE THROUGH THE TABLE, and covers for 3!! WINNER: “THE DEMON” FINN BÁLOR!!

What a return for “The Demon” Finn Bálor! A man named Adam Weitsman won an opportunity to sit in on commentary for the next match. Jade Cargill comes out first wearing a big jacket in the shape of wigs and heads to the ring by herself without her baddies. Rhea Ripley comes out next wearing some new white gear and she’s fired up heading down the ramp. Alicia Taylor does the proper title match introductions, and Danilo Anfibio is the referee for this match.

* WWE Women’s Championship: Jade Cargill {C} vs. Rhea Ripley

The bell dings, they circle each other, collar-and-elbow tie-up, Jade backs her into the ropes, clean break, Jade shoves her, hits a shoulder block, body slams her, and walks around proud. Rhea with a short-arm kick, slams her face-first, hits a basement dropkick, Jade rolls out the ring, Rhea grabs her by the hair, Jade hits a shoulder tackle and powerslams her for a 2-count. Jade beats her down in a corner, gets in the ref’s face, throws her out the ring, drops on her back, tosses her into the barricade, and takes time to gloat. Jade breaks the ref’s count, slams her head on the apron, throws her back into the ring, delivers a blue thunder bomb, and gets a 2-count.

Rhea is smiling asking for more, so Jade takes her down with a crossface! Rhea counters lifting her up, Jade fights her off with elbows, Rhea hits a capoeira upkick, trips her up, pummels her, Jade reserves, Rhea chops her, Jade punches her, they start trading blows back and forth, Jade kicks her, Rhea with an enzuigiri, does an electric chair drop, and covers for 2. Rhea sets up for the Riptide, Jade counters with a hiptoss, Rhea side-steps her sending her to the apron, Jade flips back in, Rhea with a back elbow, Jade plants her with a spinebuster and covers for a near-fall. Rhea counters the Jaded with a roll-up for 2, Jade pops her up, Rhea counters with a hurricanrana, and hits a basement enzuigiri.

Michin shows up on the apron, B-Fab causes a distraction, Rhea knocks Michin off the apron, but Jade side-steps her sending her into the ringpost. Jade delivers the ONE WINGED ANGEL that she calls the Sandstorm, and gets 2.9! Jade is trying to get her Baddies to attack Ripley, but the ref spots them, and IYO SKY comes down to make the save! IYO hits B-Fab with the Shotei, hits the back elbow and palm strike to Michin, and drops them with the Asai moonsault while avoiding Jade’s pump kick! Rhea headbutts Jade, goes for the Riptide, but Jade counters, hits the pump kick, sets up for Jaded, but Rhea counters through her legs, plants her with the RIPTIDE, AND COVERS FOR 3!! WINNER, and NEW, WWE WOMEN’S CHAMPION: RHEA RIPLEY!!

Michael Cole dubs Rhea RIpley as Ms. WrestleMania as she gets another victory at WrestleMania! Rhea Ripley wins the WWE Women’s Championship and hugs Iyo Sky in the ring with pyro going off in the background. Jade sulks on the ramp with B-Fab and Michin. We get another replay of Brock Lesnar leaving his boots and gloves in the ring earlier.

John Cena is back in the ring talking about all the moments we’ve seen, and it’s time to announce the attendance for night two – 55,255. The overall attendance is 106,072 for both days! Cena says this concludes his duties as host of WrestleMania, he’s proud to be here, and says thank you. The Miz and Kit Wilson come out behind the timekeeper’s area to complain. The Miz says he didn’t get his WrestleMania last year and he’s not leaving until he gets his moment for WrestleMania 42. Cena shakes Mike’s hand, introduces himself to Kit Wilson, and tells MIz to go ahead. DANHAUSEN’s music plays, and a group of Mini-Hausen midgets (as Cole says they wanted to be called) rise up on the stage elevator to start dancing! The real Danhausen rides out on a jeep to the ring leading the mini group to scare Miz and Kit. Danhausen says “Greetings humans! I am Danhausen. Very nice, very evil. And I have finally made it to WrestleMania-hausen! Speaking of which, I’ve got something to say… to YOU! (Pointing to Cena.) Huge fan-hausen, love everything you do.” The Miz shouts at Cena to not shake his hand, and orders Wilson to shout “You, are, TOXIC!” The Miz challenges him to do something, and one of the Mini-hausens punches Kit Wilson in the balls, and they dogpile him! Danhausen punches Miz in the balls, looks at his hand, Cena grants him permission, Danhausen does the You Can’t See Me, shouts “You, are, CURSED” then does a falling poke to Miz’s eye! The Mini-hausens carry The Miz up the ramp. Danhausen sets off a smoke bomb but doesn’t move quick enough, then very visibly runs off and under the ring. Cena smiles and laughs. “That was great. Retired life is awesome. WrestleMania is unexpected, huh? It’s also the grandest stage of them all. There is no showcase bigger than our next, because next up, is your MAIN EVENT! Enjoy!”

We get a video package to hype up the feud between CM Punk and Roman Reigns. We get a live performance of an opera singer, a pianist, and a drummer performing before the OTC makes his entrance, coming out to the Tribal Chief original “Head of the Table” theme song. This will be Roman Reigns’s 11th WrestleMania main event! A video package plays next for CM Punk’s highlights of his career since the beginning with the of CM Punk’s old Ring of Honor theme!! CM Punk walks out to the stage to no music, looks out to the crowd, kneels, and shouts “It’s Clobbering Time!” Now Punk’s “Cult of Personality” theme song plays and the crowd sings along. This will be CM Punk’s first singles main event match! Alicia Taylor is in the ring to do the proper title match introductions, and the referee for this match is Rod Zapata.

* WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk {C}

The bell dings, the main event is underway, the crowd is hot, both men go face-to-face, and they get ready. They lock up collar-and-elbow, clean break, and they laugh it off. They lock up, Punk with a side headlock, Reigns pushes him off, Punk hits a shoulder block, and Roman gets in his face. Punk with a side headlock again, Reigns pushes him off, hits a back elbow, shoves him, Punk with a slap to the head, and goes back to the headlock with a smile. Reigns pushes him off, hits a Samoan drop, Punk is still smiling, chops him, Reigns punches him, slams his head on the turnbuckles, and clotheslines him out to the floor. Reigns smacks his head on the ringpost, Punk is in and out the ring, Punk blocks the table, slams Roman’s head on the Spanish announce table, Reigns reverses the Irish whip into the LED barricade, and he breaks the ref’s count.

They battle behind the English announce table, Reigns throws him over the barricade, stands on the announce table, Punk sits on a chair in the front row, but he was playing possum as he strike back, sends Roman back over the barricade, and hits a leaping clothesline off the barricade! Punk stands on the Spanish announce table, poses, but Reigns throws him off the table onto the floor, brings him back into the ring, covers, and gets a 1-count. Reigns talks trash, punches him, Punk fights back, they start trading blows, Reigns hits a big boot, and covers for 2. Reigns hangs him in the ropes, uppercuts him, clotheslines him ten times in a corner, hits the jumping clothesline, and covers for 2.

Roman says “Let’s take this shit home” as he sets up in the corner, Punk side-steps the Superman Punch, clotheslines him, lands a diving crossbody off the top rope, pummels him, hits the calf kick, hits the high knee in the corner, and follows up with the running bulldog. Punk is ready to end this, pick him up, Reigns avoids the GTS, throws him shoulder-first into the ringpost, hits the Superman Punch, and covers for a near-fall. Roman calls for the Spear, but Punk hits the high knee, another high knee, short-arm clothesline, another short-arm clothesline, hits the spinning neckbreaker, and clotheslines him out the ring. Punk hits the suicide dive, poses on top of Roman, slams his head on the English announce table, slams his head on the steps, lays him on top of the announce table, referee Rod Zapata admonishes him, but Punk goes up top, Reigns gets up to cut him off.

They battle on the apron trading blows, Reigns with a big boot, crotches him on the top rope, clubs him on the back, hangs him upside-down in the tree of woe, laughs t him, straight punches to the head, hits the Superman Punch while he’s in the tree of woe, hits another Superman Punch, and a third Superman Punch! Reigns goes to untie him, but Reigns isn’t done, as he grabs the top half of the steel steps and BASHES HIM WITH IT!! Rod Zapata shouts at Reigns for using the foreign object and threatens to DQ him, but he goes to check on a bloody Punk. Reigns clears off the Spanish announce table, picks him up, and POWERBOMBS PUNK THROUGH THE TABLE!! Reigns throws the champ back into the ring, calls for the Spear, Punk catches him to hit the GTS, and covers for 2.9!! Punk picks him back up, Reigns slips off, hits the SPEAR, and covers for 2.99!!

Reigns slams Punk’s face into the mat, smiles as he regains his composure, mocks Punk’s sleep taunt, punches him, Punk hits him back, Reigns headbutts him, mocks him again, picks him up, Punk blocks the GTS, kicks him in the head, and covers for a 2-count. Punks calls for the finish mocking Roman, hits his own Superman Punch, covers for 2, ground-n-pound, steps out the ring, takes the Ula Fala to wear it, gets back in the ring, Reigns counters the Spear with the Guillotine, but Punk counters with a schoolboy for 2.9 then locks in the Anaconda Vice! Reigns punches him to get out of the hold, puts him back into the Guillotine, Punk gives the ref the thumb’s up, escapes the hold, Reigns blocks the Sharpshooter, and Punk falls down right into the Guillotine! Punk floats over with a jackknife pin for 2, and they both collide in the middle of the ring to a rousing applause! Both men are down, Rod Zapata checks on both of them, and the crowd starts a dueling chant of “CM Punk!” and “OTC!” They trade shots kneeling, they trade blows standing, Punk with a knee strike, Reigns with a knee strike, Punk punches him, Reigns punches him, Punk headbutts him, but he quickly finds out not to headbutt a Samoan. Punk unravels his wrist tape, throws it at Roman, the ref grabs it to toss away, GIVES REIGNS THE LOWBLOW, HITS THE GTS, and covers for the 1-2-KICKOUT!!

Punk hits elbow drops, kicks him out the ring, slams his head on the English announce table, crawls back into the ring, goes up to the top rope, and HITS THE DIVING ELBOW DROP THROUGH THE TABLE!!! Punk gets him back into the ring, picks him up on his shoulders, hits the GTS, Roman bounces off the ropes back onto his shoulders, Punk picks him back up, but Punk collapses from exhaustion! Punk gets back to his feet, REIGNS HITS THE SPEAR, and Punk is up on his knees! Punk collapses again, both men struggle to get back to their feet, Reigns gains the energy to run the ropes, hits the SPEAR again, AND COVERS FOR THE 1-2-3!!! WINNER, AND NEW, WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: ROMAN REIGNS!!!!

The Tribal Chief is back at the Head of the Table as the new World Heavyweight Champion! Both men are SPENT from a hard-fought match! This was an incredible and amazing main event match! Congrats to Roman Reigns on becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion, and to Punk for a great reign! Reigns heads out the ring to hug his family and kiss his wife in the front row, then gets back in the ring to celebrate his victory to close out night two and the entire weekend of WrestleMania 42!
