WWE WrestleMania 42 Saturday Recap – THREE New Women’s Champs! Paige Returns! Rhodes vs. Orton! Rollins vs. Gunther!

WrestleMania has finally here with another two-night extravaganza event in Las Vegas! It’s Saturday, meaning that tonight is only night one! We have the main event between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, with Orton looking for his 15th world title. Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan gets her chance to win the Women’s World Championship from Stephanie Vaquer. AJ Lee makes her return to WrestleMania to defend her Intercontinental Title against Becky Lynch. Also, Seth Rollins takes on Gunther, the Women’s Tag Titles are on the line in a 4-way match, there will be an unsanctioned match, and much more to look forward to! Oh and one more thing, John Cena is the host!! The live recap of WrestleMania Saturday starts with the pre-show at 3 PM ET/2 Central on social media, and the main premium live event at 6 PM ET with the first hour airing on ESPN2, and the rest of the show on ESPN Unlimited (USA) and Netflix (worldwide). Hit F5 or refresh as often as you like for the latest updates!

IT’S WRESTLEMANIA 42 BACK IN VEGAS! We get the opening video package presented by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and we get highlights of several WrestleMania Moments. John Cena is here in a suit to be the host of WrestleMania! Cena walks to the ring (instead of running), says this year’s Road to WrestleMania has been chaos, unpredictable, and very vocal and polarizing. “This is the moment I love the most, especially on the Road to WrestleMania. We’re all in here for the same reason because we know the time to talk is up. The time to deliver is now. And we are all here with one thing on our minds. Who tonight will step up and deliver? It is such a great honor. Ladies and gentlemen, and everyone watching around the world, welcome to WrestleMania!!” Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are the commentators for the event, and this is Michael Cole’s 25th year calling WrestleMania!

The Usos head out first with yet another version of their theme song. (“You and me Uce, Day One Ish.”) LA Knight heads out driving a big pick-up truck. iShowSpeed walks out alongside The Vision and we get a split-screen that turns into a 9-box view of their entrance. The referee for this match is Ryan Tran.

* The Usos & LA Knight vs. iShowSpeed & The Vision {World Tag Team Champions}

Once the bell dings, The Usos hit superkicks to The Vision! That leaves Speed all alone to start the match against LA Knight. Speed puts him in a side headlock, Knight tosses him back, Speed backflips off the top rope, Knight avoids it, clotheslines him, knocks Logan Paul off the apron, and Speed body slams Knight! Speed celebrates with excitement, but when he sees Knight back up he runs off and tags out. Knight pulls Logan into the ring as the legal man, stomps him down in his corner with each “YEAH” from the crowd, Jey Uso tags in, 10-punch in a corner with each “YEET” from the crowd, Jimmy tags in so The Usos hit a double back elbow and double elbow drop. Jimmy covers for the first 2-count of the weekend, chops him on the chest, Theory tags in, takes Jimmy down with a slingshot dropkick, and knocks Jey off the apron. Paul tags in, double suplex to Jimmy, The Vision pose, and Speed gets tagged back in. Speed sets up for a suplex, Jimmy reverses the suplex on Speed, and Speed tags out again to Paul.

Logan takes control of the match with body blows in a corner, Jimmy uppercuts him, hits the Uso in the Wind, and both men are down. Theory tags in, Jey gets the hot tag, punches him, Theory picks him up, Jey slips off, hits the SPEAR, covers, and Logan breaks up the count. Logan plants Jey with a gutwrench suplex, Jimmy superkicks Paul, Theory punches him, throws Jey into the ringpost, Jimmy superkicks Theory, Speed is in the ring, Jimmy catches him and Speed does a headscissors! Speed celebrates again, Knight gets the tag, Speed blocks the BFT pushing Knight into Paul knocking him off the apron, and Theory yells at Speed for that. Theory grabs Knight, gives Speed instructions to run the ropes, Knight shoves Theory colliding into Speed, and hits Theory with the BFT for the 3-count! WINNERS: THE USOS & LA KNIGHT!

The Usos and LA Knight celebrate outside the ring and leave. Logan Paul confronts iShowSpeed about the miscommunication, punches him in the jaw, and yells at him for ruining things for The Vision. Paul throws Speed out the ring, clears off the announce table, places him onto it, gets in the ring and up the turnbuckle, but The Usos pull Paul down and give him the 1-D!! Knight pulls Speed off the table, throws him back into the ring, all three surround him, Knight puts Paul on the table, Speed gets up the to top of the ringpost, and SPEED HITS THE FROG SPLASH ONTO LOGAN PAUL THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!! Cole shouts “I, SHOW, SPLASH!!” The Usos and LA Knight help Speed back into the ring, they help him up to his feet, and iShowSpeed YEETs with The Usos!

We see George Kittle chugging a beer at ringside, Jahmyr Gibbs is in the crowd, as well as Tyrese Haliburton and George Kittle steals his beer and chugs that also! Stephen A. Smith is also there and he basks in the boos from the crowd. Next is the unsanctioned match, and ring announcer Alicia Taylor explains the rules and announces that WWE will not be held liable for damages or injuries during this match. Jacob Fatu heads out first surrounded by fire and Polynesian fire dancers and wearing some new gear. Drew McIntyre breaks a door down, heads out with his sword again, and since this is unsanctioned will he use the sword? Dan Engler is the referee for this match and he’s wearing a standard black shirt and not the WWE referee shirt.

* Unsanctioned Match: Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre

Fatu jumps on McIntyre with a suicide dive before he even gets in the ring, and the fight is on outside the ring so Engler calls for the bell! Fatu throws him into the barricade, slams his head on the ring apron, sends him into the ringpost, and tosses him into the timekeeper’s area. Fatu brings out two tables, tosses several chairs into the ring, gives him a swift kick and headbutts, brings out a toolbox, and dumps the tools in the ring. McIntyre backs off when he sees the toolbox having PTSD from Hell in a Cell against CM Punk, McIntyre takes him down, tosses the toolbox into the ring, smacks him against the steel of the ring apron, catapults him into the steel frame under the ring, sets up one of the tables in front of the English announce table, sets up a powerbomb, but Fatu shoves him back into the ringpost. McIntyre clotheslines him inside-out on the floor, takes his phone, starts streaming live, hits Fatu in the head with it, most likely posts it on social media, and goes back on the attack.

McIntyre grabs a wrench, Fatu clotheslines him, hits a running senton, splashes him in a corner, hits ten headbutts, and hits the running hip attack. Fatu plants him with the pop-up Samoan drop, covers, and gets a 2-count. McIntyre hits the Glasgow Kiss, wedges a chair in the turnbuckles, side-steps him as Fatu hits the ringpost head-first, and hits a release German suplex. McIntyre hits the flipping plancha to the floor below, starts his countdown, Fatu ducks the Claymore, sends him into the wedged chair, hits the double-jump springboard moonsault, and covers for 2.99!! McIntyre whacks him on the knee with a wrench, jams it in his forehead, laughs about it, stages two chairs together, suplexes him through the chairs (hitting only one), and covers for 2. McIntyre orders Engler to take his belt off, Fatu superkicks him, hits him with a chair, hits him with another chair, whips him with the belt, picks up the toolbox, and McIntyre hits the CLAYMORE for 1-2-KICKOUT!!

Both men trade shots back and forth to BOOs and YAYs from the crowd while kneeling, they continue throwing punches standing up, McIntyre chops him, Fatu kicks him, McIntyre slaps him, and Fatu headbutts him back down. Fatu grabs the table in the ring, sets it up near a corner, puts him on the table, hits him with another chair, goes up top, McIntyre cuts him off by throwing a chair at him, then whacks him with the chair, and shoves him down to the table at ringside!! McIntyre gets him back into the ring, Fatu superkicks him twice, hits him in the head with the toolbox, McIntyre falls onto the table, Fatu hits the DOUBLE-JUMP SPRINGBOARD MOONSAULT OFF THE TOP THROUGH THE TABLE, and covers for the win!! WINNER: JACOB FATU!

Jacob Fatu wins the unsanctioned match, getting a big win over the former world champion. That ends the broadcast on ESPN2. Now that we’re fully on the ESPN App we see the WWE x Snickers blimp, then introduce the Spanish announce table with Marcelo Rodriguez and Jerry Soto, and we see what’s coming up with the rest of the card for Night 1.

It’s time for the fatal 4-way tag match for the women’s tag team titles! Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss head to the ring first, followed by Lyra Valkyria and Bayley. The champions The Irresistible Forces head to the ring third instead of last, and they’re wearing masks to honor Demolition as they show the brand new WWE Hall of Famers in the crowd. Finally, The Bella Twins head to the ring next, but Nikki Bella is walking about with a crutch and still has on a walking boot. Nikki has a microphone, says she couldn’t get healed in time for this match, and says she called an old friend for a favor – PAIGE!!!! Paige gets in the WWE ring for the first time in eight years! Daphanie LaShaunn will be the referee for this first title match of the night.

* WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair vs. Lyra Valkyria & Bayley vs. The Irresistible Forces {C} vs. Brie Bella & Paige

In this match, one member from each team will be legal, and can only tag their own partner. Lash attacks Brie at the bell, big forearm smash to Bayley, clotheslines Alexa, and splashes Brie in her corner. Nia tags in, double team big boot and Samoan drop to Bayley, Nia picks Alexa up, Alexa slips off and gets a boot up in her corner. Charlotte tags in, hits a diving crossbody onto Nia, throws her out the ring, and gives chops to Brie. Bayley with a back elbow, Lyra gets the tag, Charlotte catches Lyra off the ropes, Brie rolls Charlotte up inside cradle for 2, Lyra with combo strikes to Charlotte, then Brie swings Lyra’s leg into Charlotte, ducks an enzuigiri, and does the Yes Kicks to both Charlotte and Lyra. Brie hits Lyra with an enzuigiri, Nia pulls her out the ring, slams her into the barricade, Lash gets the tag, and choke slams Brie onto the apron.

Charlotte drops Nia on the apron with a big boot, Lash hits Charlotte with a pump kick, Charlotte boots her in the face, and hits a backbreaker. Alexa tags in for a tornado DDT, Lyra rolls back in to hit Alexa with a forearm smash, Bayley tags in to hit a running elbow, Lyra tags in for a backbreaker, Bayley tags in to hit the diving elbow drop, covers, and Lash pulls her off to break it up. Lash prevents Brie from tagging out, sets her up on the top, Lyra tags in to attack Lash, both Lyra and Alexa go for a double superplex on Brie, but Lash gets underneath the two to powerbomb both of them, and Brie hits Lash with the missile dropkick. All four women are down, all of their partners are ready for the tag, Nia gets the tag first, then Bayley gets the tag, and Charlotte gets tagged in. Nia picks Bayley up, but Bayley slips off, Charlotte hits Bayley with the big boot, Nia headbutts Charlotte, and Paige gets the hot tag!

Paige tags in the match for the first time, forearms and kicks Nia, clotheslines Bayley and Charlotte, delivers a fisherman’s suplex to Bayley, and shouts “This is my house!” Lash tosses her onto the apron, Paige knees her in the face, goes up top, diving crossbody to Lyra, but Lyra rolls through, Paige counters the Night Wing, hits the Paige Turner, covers, and Bayley breaks up the count! Nia plants Bayley with the Samoan drop, grabs Brie for a powerbomb, but Brie counters and pulls Nia over the ropes by the legs with help from Lyra. Lash plants Lyra with the Lash Extension, covers, Paige and Charlotte break up the count, then they superkick Lash and clothesline her over the ropes.

Paige and Charlotte have a staredown with the history that they have, they trade punches back and forth, Charlotte chops her, trips her for the figure-4, Paige counters 4 with an inside cradle, 2-count, and Charlotte hits the Natural Selection! Charlotte drags her into position, tags out, Alexa goes up top, Nikki Bella pulls Charlotte out the ring and whacks her on the back with her crutch! Paige gets her knees up to block the Twisted Bliss, plants her with the RamPaige and gets the 3-count! WINNERS, and NEW, WWE WOMEN’S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: BRIE BELLA & PAIGE!!!

Paige returns to WWE and wins the tag team titles in her first match back! What a moment, perhaps a WrestleMania Moment!

We see The Mandalorian and Grogu in the crowd to promote the new movie. Tony Hinchcliffe and Jeff Ross are shown in the crowd.

Becky Lynch heads to the ring for the next match, and The Wonder Years are on the stage to perform her song. Becky gets in referee Jessika Carr’s face with the history that they have. AJ Lee makes her entrance with several girls skipping down the ramp with replica’s championships.

* Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee {C}

The bell dings, Becky knocks her down at the start, AJ with an armdrag, holds onto the armbar, Becky goes for the dropkick but AJ avoids it and sits on the ropes. Becky catches her from a crossbody, throws her into the LED barricade, throws her back into the ring, goes up top, hits a diving legdrop, covers for 2, slams her face to the mat and gets in the ref’s face again. Becky delivers the Becksploder, covers for 2, slams her face into the mat, and unties a turnbuckle pad. Ref Jess immediately puts the padding back on, calls her “absolutely insane” in the process, and AJ counters a suplex with an inside cradle for 2. Becky reverses an Irish whip, blocks a tornado DDT, AJ hits a back elbow, splashes her in the ropes, Becky returns the attack in the opposite ropes, AJ trips her, goes up top, hits a missile dropkick, covers, and gets a 2-count. Becky blocks the Black Widow, AJ hits a shirunai, Becky counters the shining wizard with a powerbomb, and stacks the pin for a 2-count.

AJ slaps her, counters the Manhandle Slam with an armdrag, Becky blocks the Black Widow again, slings her into the turnbuckles, plants her with the Manhandle Slam, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT! Becky stomps her down in a corner, gets in ref Jess face again, and Jess is getting frustrated with her. Becky shoves Jess, but Jess shoves her back, Becky psyches herself up, Jess ducks a swing, Becky runs into a Manhandle Slam by AJ, and AJ covers for 2.99!! They trade shots back and forth, AJ counters the Manhandle Slam into the Black Widow, Becky reaches the ropes to break, grabs AJ’s hair, punches her, and takes the turnbuckle pad off again. AJ charges at her, Becky pulls Jess into her path making AJ almost squash her, Becky slams AJ’s head onto the exposed turnbuckle behind the ref’s back, plants the champ with the MANHANDLE SLAM, and covers for 1-2-3 to win the title back!! WINNER, and NEW, WOMEN’S INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: BECKY LYNCH!!

Becky Lynch is now a record 3-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion! Ref Jess was unaware of Becky being nefarious, and now she has to hand her the title. Becky holds the title up with pyro going off in the background while AJ looks dejected in the ring.

The Club WWE blimp is flying around the arena for promotion, then we get a brief preview of Mortal Kombat II in theaters on May 8th. Chuck Zito is shown in the crowd, and George Kittle shows up to chug Zito’s beer! Terence Crawford, comedian Funny Marco, and boxer Conor Benn are here too. Gunther heads to the ring for his match next, and Seth Rollins comes out wearing black eye contacts and a smoking jacket. The referee for this match is Chad Patton.

* GUNTHER vs. Seth Rollins

GUNTHER DROPKICKS ROLLINS as soon as he takes his jacket off, delivers a Saito suplex and powerbombs him! The match hasn’t even started yet, and they start brawling outside the ring as Seth gouges his eyes, they battle behind the Spanish announce table, Seth throws him over the English announce table, and throws a couple of chairs at him. Both men stand on opposite sides at ringside, and once they get in the ring Chad Patton calls for the bell.

They trade punches at each other, Rollins with a big boot, Gunther hits a big boot, puts him in the sleeper hold, Rollins lands on his feet from a German suplex, hits another big boot, stomps on the side of his head, and Gunther clotheslines him to block The Stomp. Gunther hits the big chop, kicks him in the back, Rollins chops him, Gunther hits more big chops, slaps him across the face, and talks trash while standing on top of him. Rollins fights back, Gunther chops him on the back, gets up the turnbuckles, pulls Rollins up to the top, Rollins counters the superplex, and grabs him for the buckle bomb! Gunther avoids The Stomp, delivers a German suplex, Rollins delivers a German suplex, Gunther clotheslines him, and Rollins clotheslines him right back.

Both men are down, they attack each other while downed, they start trading shots, Rollins chops him, Gunther chops him harder, Rollins spits at him then chops him over and over, Gunther delivers the powerbomb, stacks up the cover, gets a 2-count, and both men are down again. Gunther hits a short-arm clothesline, hits a running clothesline, Rollins counters another clothesline, Gunther counters the Pedigree, Rollins hits the running knee, Gunther counters the Pedigree with a back drop while his arms are hooked, gets a 2-count, Rollins rolls him over, hits the Pedigree, hits THE STOMP, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT!

Rollins goes up top, Gunther avoids the flying knee, Rollins rolls him up for 2, and Gunther catches him in the SLEEPER! Rollins tries to stay alive here, gets back to his feet, counters into a rolling elbow, hits another rolling elbow, Gunther hits a big clothesline, goes up top, Rollins jumps up for a SUPERPLEX into the falcon arorw, and gets 2.5! Rollins locks in a Sleeper of his own, Gunther makes it to the bottom rope, and exits the ring to catch his breath. Rollins hears the crowd singing his song, hits the suicide dive, gets back in, and hits another suicide dive.

Rollins gets back in the ring again, Gunther blocks the suicide dive, POWERBOMB onto the apron, POWERBOMB to the edge of the English announce table, they get on top of the table, and Rollins counters the powerbomb to plant him with the PEDIGREE ONTO THE ANNOUNCE TABLE! Rollins clears off the Spanish announce table, Rollins gets on the table, and hits THE STOMP ONTO THE ANNOUNCE TABLE! Rollins rolls off the table, the ref checks on Gunther, and BRON BREAKKER HITS ROLLINS WITH THE SPEAR AT RINGSIDE!!! Breakker throws Rollins back into the ring, Chad Patton gets back in, Rollins is looking at the turncoat Breakker walking back up the ramp, Gunther slips back in, locks Rollins in the SLEEPER, and Rollins passes out! WINNER: GUNTHER!

Seth Rollins crawls on the floor, Bron Breakker CHARGES ALL THE WAY DOWN THE RAMP TO SPEAR ROLLINS again at ringside! Breakker talks trash to Rollins before heading back up the ramp to spot Paul Heyman and gives him a big hug to celebrate his return.

The WrestleMania highlight of the night is Paige’s return to WWE and they replay it in several different commentary languages. The Blimphousen is shown flying in the arena. The Class of 2026 WWE Hall of Fame are on the stage – Bad News Brown, Dennis Rodman, Ax and Smash of Demolition, the family of Sid Vicious, AJ Styles and Stephanie McMahon. This year’s WWE SummerSlam takes place in Minneapolis on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2.

Liv Morgan comes out for the next match, but she’s entering to her song “Trouble” that she came up with and sings, including a dance routine on the stage and down the ramp. Stephanie Vaquer comes out with the championship around her waist. Alicia Taylor does the proper title match introductions, and Eddie Orengo is the referee for this match.

* World Women’s Championship: Liv Morgan vs. Stephanie Vaquer {C}

They go on the attack at the bell with punches and headbutts! Stephanie takes control throwing her into the barricade, hits the meteora in the corner, goes up top, Liv cuts her off, delivers a springboard sunset flip powerbomb, and gets a 2-count. Liv kicks her head, clobbers her on the back, delivers a suplex, rolls over, another suplex, rolls over, and completes the Three Amigos. Liv hits a shining wizard, goes up top, Stephanie gets her knees up to block the splash, delivers the back suplex and does the Devil’s Kiss! Stephanie hits the double-underhook gutbuster, covers for 2, Liv counters the SVB, hits the backstabber, smacks her on the head repeatedly, and Stephanie catches her with a roll-up for 2. Stephanie hits the SVB, and gets a near-fall!

Both women pull themselves up with the ropes, Liv hits the Codebreaker, Stephanie hits Liv with the Oblivion, and covers for 2.5! Stephanie goes up top, Roxanne Perez is on the apron to distract the ref, Raquel Rodriguez pulls Stephanie off the apron, Liv hits the OBLIVION, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT!! Stephanie kicks Roxanne and Raquel off the apron, lowers the ropes making Liv hit Raquel with a suicide dive, then hits both Roxanne and Raquel with a springboard crossbody to the floor! Liv throws Stephanie into the steel steps, throws her back into the ring, hits a diving Codebreaker, hits the OBLIVION, AND COVERS FOR THREE!! WINNER, and NEW, WORLD WOMEN’S CHAMPION: LIV MORGAN!!

Liv Morgan is once again the World Women’s Champion! “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio is here right away to hand Liv the championship. Dominik, Roxanne and Raquel stand in the ring to celebrate the victory of Liv Morgan with pyro behind them.

John Cena is back in the ring as the host to announce the attendance for Night One – 50,816 people. BIANCA BELAIR is here!! Bianca says WrestleMania is not the same with the EST of WWE, and she thanks everyone for their support. Bianca has a surprise – she’s having a baby!!! John Cena hugs Bianca for her pregnancy announcement, and adds 1 more to the attendance list. “Next up, is your MAIN EVENT!!”

We get a short trailer for Street Fight coming to theaters this October. We get a commercial for WrestleMania 43 next year taking place in Saudi Arabia.

We get a promo package highlighting the story between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton leading up to their WrestleMania main event match. Somehow Pat McAfee got inserted into this feud, and he’s the first man out before the competitors flipping off the crowd on his way to the ring. Randy Orton saunters his way to the ring next with the crowd loudly singing his song. Cody Rhodes heads out after glimpses of his past, and he’s wearing a new gold jacket, then gives love to wife Brandi Rhodes and daughter at ringside. Alicia Taylor starts to do the proper title match introductions, but Pat McAfee takes the microphone from her to introduce the challenger in his own way with way more words. Alicia finishes her introductions for the champ, and referee Charles Robinson shows off the title.

McAfee hits Rhodes in the head with a sneak attack using the microphone, Orton stomps on Rhodes, McAfee is cheering him on, Rhodes kicks McAfee away, sends Orton into the ringpost, and hits McAfee with the CROSS RHODES!! Rhodes kicks McAfee out the ring, clears off the English announce table, lays McAfee on top, JELLY ROLL is here, and jumps off the Spanish announce table to plant McAfee through the table with an elbow drop! “Now go give ’em the one-on-one match they came to see!” Cody gets back in the ring ready for the match, but Orton stays on the outside looking on, and Michael Cole notes that there are rumors of Orton having a back injury. The medical team bring out a stretcher to place McAfee on it, Orton is standing by at ringside as they get McAfee outta here, and the crowd chants “You deserved it!” McAfee gives a thumbs up then a middle finger on his way out.

* Undisputed WWE Championship: Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes {C}

The bell dings finally and the main event is underway! Orton and Rhodes stare each other down, they lock up collar-and-elbow, stalemate, Orton with a side headlock, Rhodes pushes him off, and Orton hits a shoulder block. They lock up again, Rhodes with a top wristlock, switches to a side headlock, Orton pushes him off and hits another shoulder block. Orton hits a European uppercut, Rhodes hits the drop-down uppercut, powerslams him, Orton counters the Cody Cutter, hits his unique backbreaker, and he takes a moment in a corner to recover. Orton pokes him in the eye, snapmare into a rear chinlock, Rhodes counters with a back suplex, and Orton rolls out the ring to recover his aching back.

Rhodes goes after him, Orton with another cheap shot, throws him back into the ring, Rhodes takes him down with a drop toehold, puts him in a half-crab, clubbing blow to the back, forearms shots to the back, and a hammer throw into the turnbuckles. Orton exits the ring in pain again, but Rhodes throws him back in, covers for a 1-count, hits a knee to the back, and applies a waistlock. Orton elbows his way out, Rhodes with a schoolboy rollup for 2, another forearm to the back, delivers a snap suplex, covers for 2, goes up top, Orton cuts him off to crotch him, climbs up to him on the top, and delivers the TOP ROPE SUPERPLEX!

Orton clotheslines him twice, hits the powerslam, sends him to the apron, pulls him through the ropes for the vintage draping DDT, and Orton is ready to strike. Rhodes blocks the RKO, sends him out the ring, Orton blocks the suicide dive, delivers the back suplex onto the Spanish announce table, takes a sip of water and hands it to Michael Cole, then Rhodes shoves him face-first into the ringpost. They get back into the ring, Orton’s forehead is bleeding, Rhodes goes on the offensive attack, and the crowd starts booing. Rhodes starts doing the Orton Stomp to Orton himself, stomping on every limb, then he hits the Disaster Kick and covers for 2.

Rhodes wipes Orton’s blood on his chest, throws him onto the apron, pulls him in to hit the draping DDT, and starts to pound the mat like Orton does. Orton blocks the RKO, sends him into the turnbuckles, hits the CROSS RHODES to Cody Rhodes, and covers for 2.5! Orton pounds the mat, Rhodes counters the RKO into the backslide for 2, hits the RKO to Orton, and covers for a near-fall! Orton rolls out the ring, Rhodes slams his head on the Spanish announce table, delivers a back suplex onto the table, throws him back into the ring, Orton hits the RKO OUTTA NOWHERE and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT!!

They trade punches back and forth, Rhodes pokes him in the eye, and Orton drops referee Charles Robinson with the RKO! Orton was blinded so he didn’t know it was Robinson! Rhodes blocks a lowblow, kicks Orton with the lowblow, Rhodes goes for the Cody Cutter, but Orton counters in mid-air with the RKO OUTTA NOWHERE!! Pat McAfee runs down in a neck brace and a black-and-white referee’s shirt, Orton makes the cover, and gets the 1-2-NO!! Orton can’t believe it, he sees Cody hunched over, thinks about the Punt, but ORTON HITS THE RKO TO PAT McAFEE!! Rhodes drops Orton with the CROSS RHODES, makes the cover, and referee Charles Robinson recovers to count the 1-2-3!! WINNER, and STILL, UNDISPUTED WWE CHAMPION: CODY RHODES!!

Cody Rhodes retains his title in the WrestleMania main event! Rhodes holds up the title in victory, Orton grabs Cody’s title from him, and hits him in the face with the championship! Rhodes gets up to his hands and knees, Orton tosses the title aside, and hits the PUNT KICK TO CODY!! Orton picks up the title again and stands with it as WrestleMania 42 Saturday comes to an end.
