Ludwig Kaiser, Foley, Darby Allin, Willow, Corbin, Lynch, Phil Hickerson, Daria Rae, Road Dogg, Nikki Bella, TNA, NJPW, Fabian Aichner, Kota Ibushi – Thursday’s News for May 21st, 2026 (Updated)

Ludwig Kaiser

Marcel Barthel, also known as Ludwig Kaiser, currently known as El Grande Americano (not to be confused with “OG” El Grande Americano as portrayed by Chad Gable) was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Orange County, Florida. (PWI) Further details have emerged of Barthel and an unnamed woman making out aggressively in an elevator of a building where Barthel lives. Someone riding the elevator with Barthel who lives in the same building told him “please have some manners” in regards to the lascivious elevator ride, at which point Barthel punched him, pushed him to the ground and threatened further violence multiple times. (NoDQ) The arrest warrant was issued after police reviewed the surveillance camera footage in the building to confirm the details. The victim (bearing the marks of the assault) picked Barthel out of a lineup as his attacker. Barthel was released on $1,000 bond. (CSS) Barthel also entered a plea of “not guilty” in response to the charges. (PWI)

Mick Foley is All Elite. In fact he’ll be on commentary for the Double or Nothing “Buy In” pre-show alongside Renee Paquette.

As you might have expected Darby Allin retained his AEW World Title in a match with Speedball Mike Bailey on Dynamite last night.

On the same episode Willow Nightingale vacated her TBS Title due to injury and is also out of the women’s Owen Hart Tournament as a result.

Bishop Dyer f/k/a Baron Corbin has reportedly “fulfilled his obligations” to any independent promotions he was working for or contracted with, including MLW, meaning the rumors of his WWE return are supported by the fact he could return the moment he’s handed a contract. (FF)

Corbin (real name Tom Pestock) strongly disagrees: “Had to correct my horrible grammar. I accepted 8 shows in Europe. My eye is still swollen from Australia. I also didn’t know I was done with some of these companies. Whoever is making my schedule needs to let me know this shit. I thought it was me, but apparently it’s not.”

Things have changed again according to Becky Lynch — her Intercontinental Title is NOT on the line against Sol Ruca on Saturday.

NWA Mid-America wrestler Phil Hickerson passed away on Wednesday at 79 years old. My condolences to his family, friends and fans.

Daria Rae says her current TNA contract runs through June.

Road Dogg has pulled out of Maple Leaf Pro Mayhem and is being replaced by Johnny TV.

Nikki Bella says she hopes to be ready to return to the ring by the end of June.

TNA says ALL of their titles will be defended at Slammiversary 2026 on Sunday, June 28 at Boston’s Agganis Arena.

Kota Ibushi seems to think his in-ring return is uncertain and plans to launch a new wrestling promotion: “I am currently sidelined due to a right leg injury sustained last November. To be honest, a comeback seems unlikely for now. I turned 44 today. So I decided, Kota Ibushi, I want to give back to the professional wrestling world. The professional wrestling world is currently facing a serious crisis: Shinjuku FACE is closing down. This venue, where I’ve had many matches, is a place that professional wrestling organizations have been grateful to. In particular, it was the perfect venue for independent wrestling promotions to hold regular shows. I believe that the disappearance of such venues is equivalent to a crisis for the culture of professional wrestling. Therefore, Kota Ibushi will put his body on the line. I’m putting my body on the line to earn money. I am going to build a pro wrestling venue. So, please cooperate with me. Please give me work, no matter how small the project may be. My leg isn’t fully recovered, so I can’t play the match, but I’ll manage to get through everything else with sheer willpower. And, with the money they earn, I’ll build a professional wrestling venue. I don’t care how long it takes! I want to give back to the professional wrestling world in the end. To achieve this, I need your cooperation. I look forward to your DMs. Thank you!”
