It’s a history-making night in Edinburg, Texas! AAA and NXT share the day for a double-event in the same building today with NXT taking the second half. Also, we’ll see a triple threat unification match when Kali Armstrong challenges Zaria for the Women’s North American Title and Wren Sinclair for her Women’s Speed Championship also on the line! We get the opening video package that showcases all of tonight’s matches, which are all title matches plus one submission match. We are live for NXT Heatwave following AAA Ola de Calor came to a close. Vic Joseph and Booker T welcome us to the event, and we start with Mike Rome announcing the first match is the unification triple threat match! Zaria heads out first with her Women’s North American Championship. Wren Sinclair comes out next with her WWE Women’s Speed Championship. Finally, out comes Kali Armstrong who earned her way into the match with nothing to lose and everything to gain. The referee for this match is Gary Wilson.

Zaria {North American Champion} vs. Wren Sinclair {Speed Champion} vs. Kali Armstrong
All three women go for pinfalls in the opening as if it was a Speed Match, which there are no speed stipuations in this match. Wren slams their heads on the mat, Zaria counters a double suplex, and clotheslines both women. Kali with jabs and a big punch to Zaria, knocks Wren off the apron, clotheslines Zaria out the ring, Wren trips her and pulls her out the ring. Kali bounces her off the apron to punch her, and runs around the ring to hit Zaria with a shoulder tackle. Kali runs back around the ring, but Wren side-steps her and Kali crashes into the steel steps.
We go picture-in-picture as the match continues, and Zaria gets back in the ring to throw Sinclair into the turnbuckles. Wren retaliates, trips her up, Zaria blocks the double chickenwing, but Wren delivers a snap suplex, rolls over, another suplex, rolls over, but Kali gets back in the ring to break it up. Zaria tosses her over the ropes, she chokes Wren while on the turnbuckles, Kali comes from behind to put her in a chinlock, Zaria counters, Kali slips off back into the ring, Wren comes from underneath but she’s unable to follow through.
When we come back full screen, Wren knocks Armstrong down, delivers a double-underhook superplex to Zaria, and Kali plants her with a spinebuster for a near-fall. Kali scrambles to pin Zaria and gets a 2-count. Kali hits running shoulder thrusts to both women in opposite corners, Wren floats over Kali, backslide to Zaria for 2, slaps her on the chest, slaps Kali on the chest, Zaria with a forearm smash to Armstrong, Wren sends Zaria into Kali then dropkicks the latter to make her DDT Zaria! Wren covers Kali for 2, covers Zaria for 2, gets sent to the corner, puts up a back elbow and a boot, then hits a diving crossbody to both women, and covers Zaria for 2. Zaria blocks the Final Wrench, ducks a clothesline, German suplex to Armstrong, Wren counters with a sleeper, but Zaria cannonballs Sinclair into Armstrong!
All three women are down, they crawl to their knee, trading punches to their feet, Wren fights them off, but they both headbutt her. Zaria and Kali battle each other trading blows, Kali scoops her up for a sit-out powerbomb, Wren rolls her up for 2, Kali blocks the Final Wrench, Wren counters the spinebuster with an inside cradle for 2, and Zaria spears both women! Wren counters the F5 with an O’Connor roll, Kali blasts Sinclair with the KALI KONNECTION, picks up Zaria for the powerslam, then runs the ropes but Zaria scoops her up on her shoulders, but Kali counters with the victory roll to get 1-2-NO! Both women punch each other at the same time, both clothesline each other, and both headbutt each other that knocks Kali out the ring. Wren plants Zaria with the X FACTOR, rolls her over, locks in the Final Wrench, rolls around for more pressure, and Kali pulls Sinclair out the ring. Wren leaps off the steel steps but Kali powerslams her onto the floor. Zaria spears Armstrong when she gets back in the ring, picks her back up, hits the F-5, and covers for the 3-count! WINNER, and NEW, Unified WWE Women’s Speed Champion & NXT Women’s North American Champion: ZARIA!!
Backstage, Sarah Schrieber interviews Cruz Montana about his championship match tonight. He reminds us of his struggles as young Puerto Rican in the Bronx to make it to this moment. He’s ready and willing to go to hell and back to become the NXT Champion.
We get a promo for WWE Saturday Sunday Night’s Main Event next week. The next match is for the NXT Tag Team Titles, and The Vanity Project will get their first opportunity tonight. Jackson Drake stayed in the back, but Myka Lockwood is out here with Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes. Tavion Heights bursts out the entrance first with his NXT Tag Team Championship, followed by his partner Myles Borne the double-champion in his first title match today. Felix Fernandes is the referee assigned to this match.
* NXT Tag Team Championship: The Vanity Project vs. Tavion Heights & Myles Borne {C}
Baylor and Bourne start the match for their respective teams. Baylor hits a shoulder block, Borne picks him up, Baylor rolls him up for 1, Borne dropkicks him, so Baylor tags out. Smokes rushes in for a rear waistlock, Heights tags in, Borne hits Smokes with a back elbow, and Heights blasts him with a shoulder tackle. Heights tackles him, rolls through with him on his shoulders, tags out, and tosses Smokes onto Borne’s knee, followed by an exploder suplex. Smokes rolls out the ring to strategize with Baylor and Lockwood. Baylor snuck into the ring to attack Borne from behind, but Borne comes back with a snap suplex and covers for 2. Smokes tags in and opens the ropes for Baylor to toss Borne out the ring, and he rams his back into the apron, then sends him back in to the ring to hit a slingshot kneedrop to the back.
We get picture-in-picture at this point to keep the action on our screen, and we see Smokes stomping Borne down in a corner. Baylor tags in to keep the momentum and attack going, Smokes tags back in to beat him down, Borne fights back, but Smokes attacks the midsection. Baylor tags in, stomps on the midsection, hammer throw to the turnbuckles, Smokes is tagged in again, kicks and stomps to the ribs, Baylor tags in, while in the waistlock Borne swats away the dropkick from Smokes and catches Baylor in an inside cradle, then he makes the hot tag. Heights clotheslines both men, hiptoss to Baylor, standing belly-to-belly overhead throw to Smokes, and does a modified sling blade to Baylor.
Heights applies the ankle lock to Baylor, Smokes distracts him, so Heights plants him with a gutwrench powerbomb, and goes back to the ankle lock on Baylor keeping him away from the ropes. Smokes tries to save his partner, which allows him to get away. Lockwood distracts him and the ref, Smokes hits a chopblock, hits a springboard mule kick, mounted punches, Baylor tags in, stomps him down in a corner, European uppercut, Smokes tags in, delivers a suplex, kneedrop, covers for 2, Baylor tags in, Heights punches him off the apron, then clotheslines Smokes and tags out in the same leap!
Borne clotheslines both men, dropkicks Baylor, hiptosses Smokes, powerslams Baylor, drops him again, neckbreaker to Smokes with a DDT to Baylor, then delivers the Ushigoroshi to Baylor, covers, and Smokes breaks the count with a double stomp. Smokes takes himself and Heights out the ring, Baylor rolls up Borne for 2, Baylor with the kitchen sink to the ribs, tags out, picks Borne up, Smokes with the dropkick, covers, and Heights breaks up the count. Baylor kicks Heights in the head with a basement dropkick, Borne hits a jumping knee, Smoke hits a back swing, both sides tag, the champs hit back elbows, the challengers hit running knees, then the champs deliver belly-to-belly suplexes! Borne dropkicks Baylor into a sit-out powerbomb by Heights, and Smokes hits a slingshot spear to Borne that breaks up the count.
Smokes drags Baylor to his corner to get the tag, Heights rolls him up inside cradle for 2, Smoke kicks him, Smokes kicks him in the head, Heights reaches for the tag but Borne is on the floor, Smokes rolls him up for 2.5, and hits a running meteora. Heights lands on his feet from a double team, hits his own double belly-to-back suplex to both men, picks up Baylor, but Baylor slips off, Borne makes the blind tag, Baylor powerslams Borne to his injured midsection, and sets up for the finisher. Smokes goes up top without a tag, Heights runs up for a belly-to-belly suplex to Smokes, and knocking down Baylor in the process. All four men slugging it out, Heights clobbers Baylor, cradle suplex to Smokes, and a Cactus Clothesline out the ring. Baylor delivers a tiger suplex, Borne with a drop-step German suplex, Baylor hits a high knee, Borne counters a suplex with the X-Plex, and covers for a near-fall. Baylor shoves Borne into Heights to knock him off the apron, sends him into the turnbuckles, Smokes tags in, hits the double-team DDT and double foot stomp, and Smokes covers for the 3! WINNERS, and NEW, NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE VANITY PROJECT!
The Vanity Project have regained the NXT Tag Team Championship, and they’re now 2-time champions! Heights hugs Borne in the ring after their loss, and they walk away disappointed at losing their titles.
After the break, we get the announcement that WWE Wrestlepalooza will return this year in Perth, Australia on Saturday, December 12th. The show will be surrounded by SmackDown on Friday, December 11th and Raw on Monday, December 14th.
The “Low-Key Legend” Nattie heads to the ring next for the only match without a championship on the line, but this will be a submissions-only match. She is joined by Karmen Petrovic and the WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons. Jaida Parker is the next one out and she’s by herself. Jeremy Marcus is the referee.

Nattie tackles her at the bell and they start scrapping right away. They fight outside the ring and up the ramp, Nattie rams her into the ring apron, Jaida comes back and slaps her on the chest, Karmen and Nikkita cause a distraction, Nattie jumps on Jaida’s back, but Jaida counters and suplexes her on the floor. Jaida gets in the ring to fire up while Nikkita and Karmen check on Nattie.
Time for P.I.P. again, and they fight continues on back in the ring. Jaida takes control with shoulder thrusts, Nattie fights back, Jaida with more shoulder thrusts, snapmare, kick to the back, Nattie trips her, floats over, blocks a piledriver, hits a back elbow, and hits the discus clothesline. Nattie stomps on her leg to wear it down, Jaida kicks her off, and applies the abdominal stretch. Nattie reverses the hold, Jaida reverses back, and Nattie reverses it again.
As we come back to full screen, Jaida reverses back into offense of the abdominal stretch, Nattie counters with an armdrag, stomps on her in the ropes, drags her away and goes for a chinlock. Karmen jumps on the apron to distract Jeremey Marcus, so that Nikkita Lyons can pull Jaida’s hair behind his back and allows Nattie to escape the hold and hits a back elbow. Karmen and Nikkita celebrate their accomplishment outside the ring, and we see LOS PERROS DEL MAL arriving on the stage! Karmen sees them on the stage and she backs away while Nikkita pleads with her to stay. Karmen has left the arena with her Perros family, leaving Nikkita at ringside by herself!
Nattie tries to regroup after losing one of her supporters on the outside. She gives Jaida a chopblock, throws her into the ropes, gloats, gets a boot up, and hits a back elbow. Jaida clotheslines her twice, hits a back elbow, short-arm clothesline, swings her into the ropes, hits the teardrop, Nattie counters the Hipnotic, Jaida counters the discus clothesline, and locks in the Rings of Saturn! Nikkita looks on as Nattie scrambles to shift her weight, rolls through, and locks in a rear naked choke with body scissors. Jaida breaks the grip, Nattie goes for the cross armbreaker, Jaida rolls to counter and powerbombs her. Nattie counters a body slam for the ankle lock, stomps her knee to the mat, and applies the SHARPSHOOTER! Jaida crawls to the ropes, there’s no rope break here, so Jaida pulls herself out the ring to break the hold. Nikkita roundhouse kicks her in the head once she got to her feet, and throws her back into the ring. Thea Hail attacks Nikkita and chases her to the back! Jaida kicks her off, chopblocks her in the knee, Nattie goes for the Sharpshooter again, but Jaida kicks her off again. Jaida hits another chopblock, applies her own Sharpshooter, Nattie crawls to the ropes, no rope break, Jaida pulls her to the center, puts on more pressure, and Nattie taps!! WINNER: JAIDA PARKER!
Nattie taps out to her own submission! Maybe now she won’t think that Jaida Parker is soft anymore.
Backstage, Wren Sinclair mentions that she didn’t get pinned in her match earlier and she walked away with nothing as she lost her title in the process. She tells Kendal not to worry about her, but focus on Kelani Jordan tonight. Kendal says she’s going to be fine, go get some ice, and get the cake ready. The women’s title match is coming up next. Kelani Jordan heads out for her very first opportunity for the NXT Women’s Title. Kendal Grey comes out next with her championship, and her right ear is still taped up. Kendal counters being thrown into the ring with a swinging kick, slides into a hurricanrana on the floor, Kelani with an armdrag, Kendal with an armdrag, Kelani floats over, and both women clothesline each other… and both kip up at a stalemate.

Kelani kicks her in the side of the head, Kendal sends her away, Kelani springboards into a forearm smash, Kendal counters a powerbomb with a hurricanrana pin for 2, superkicks her, both women counter each other, then Kendal hits a knee to the face from a gutwrench, and covers for a near-fall. Kelani Jordan has finally become the NXT Women’s Champion, on her very first opportunity one-on-one!! It’s a sad day for the WrenQCC as they lost both championships in the same day. Kelani can now add this championship to her accolades. Breaktime.
Backstage, NXT GM Robert Stone gets interviewed about what we’ve seen so far including a title unification match, two titles changing hands, and still two more title matches to go. Stone teases something in the works for the tag team division. Also, Stone announces the next NXT PLE – Halloween Havoc on Halloween night for the first time ever on Saturday, October 31st. “And that is set in stone.”
We get a video of Naraku directed at Shiloh Hill for getting involved in his business and “reading about the poison mist on the internet.” This Tuesday, Naraku will show Shiloh some real EVIL.
Tavion Heights and Myles Borne are in the locker room upset about losing the titles. They vow to win the tag championships again, but Myles must now focus on retaining his other championship next. “Brothers for life.” Breaktime.
After the break, The Vanity Project are back out in the arena, this time for Jackson Drake’s opportunity at the championship. Myles Borne heads out by himself to defend his singles title with no back-up. Mike Rome is back in the ring to do the proper title match introductions, and Jeremy Marcus is the referee.

The bell dings, Borene side-steps him, hits uppercuts, Drake chops him, Borne with a high back body drop, more uppercuts and punches, and a Cactus Clothesline out the ring. Drake kicks him into the steel steps, looks at the championship, Borne blocks a suplex, and delivers a snap suplex on the floor. Tavion Heights makes his way down to support at ringside. Back in the ring, Borne counters a suplex, Drake hits a jumping enzuigiri, kips up, and a suplex gone wrong makes both men fall over the ropes.
During picture-in-picture, Drake sends the champ into the steel steps and taunts Heights, then puts Borne back into the ring to cover for 2. Drake hits a basement dropkick, knee on the face, knee to the midsection, and a springboard knee to the ribs. Drake grabs him for a waistlock in the middle of the ring to wear him down from his previous match, Borne battles out, Drake hits a back kick, but Borne dropkicks him. Borne avoids the springboard moonsault, Jackson lands on his feet, and hits a low suicide dive taking him down. Drake throws him back into the ring, Borne avoids the 450 Splash, so Drake rolls through, hits the gutbuster, and covers for 2. Borne dropkicks him again, delivers a powerbomb, pulls him back up for a second powerbomb, and covers for a near-fall. Drake fights him off, gets on the turnbuckles, Borne dropkicks for the fourth time, and hits a suicide dive sending him into the announce table! Borne gets him back into the ring, attacks Ricky Smokes at ringside, throws him into the ring, the ref tries to get Smokes out, and behind the ref’s back Myka Lockwood delivers her POWERBOMB SLAM ON THE FLOOR!! The Vanity Project have all the gold, as Jackson Drake has just become the youngest NXT North American Champion!! Myka Lockwood got a lot of buzz on social media for that big move that she just did, so the reaction to her busting it out here was loud. Tavion Heights hypes up Myles Borne to the live Texas crowd for his efforts competing in two matches and defending two championships. MYLES BORNE DROPS HEIGHTS WITH BORNE AGAIN!!! I thought it was gonna be Heights who’d turn on Borne, but what a swerve! Even The Vanity Project are shocked as they step aside to let Borne walk past them.
We get a video of Kam Hendrix directed at Mason Rook, and this Tuesday they’ll have another match one-on-one. Breaktime, with a promo video for WWE Money in the Bank on Saturday, October 10th in New Orleans.
We get a video package to highlight the events leading up to the next match for the NXT Championship involving Cruz Montana, Grayson Waller, the debuting Zilla Fatu, and the champion Tony D’Angelo. Breaktime. Zilla Fatu heads to the ring to a huge applause from the Texas crowd, but then Grayson Waller heads out soon after to kill his buzz. Cruz Montana heads out through the crowd getting a lot of love. Tony D’Angelo finally heads out with the NXT Championship around his waist. Mike Rome doesn’t even do the proper title match introductions as he knows the heat these guys have against each other. Referee Adrian Butler (Darryl Sharma) shows off the championship briefly, and Waller attacks D’Angelo without hesitation!

The bell dings as the chaos ensues! Zilla side-steps Montana, uppercuts him, hiptosses Waller across the ring, splashes Montana, Waller avoids the hip attack, Montana punches him, Waller with a discus forearm, Montana and Waller punch each other, and Zilla clotheslines them at the same time. D’Angelo gets back in the ring, confronts Fatu, ducks the Samoan Spike, Fatu blocks the German suplex, and D’Angelo plants him with the spinebuster. Montana steps up to the champ, D’Angelo fights him off, Montana with a back kick, D’Angelo hits Waller with a suicide dive, Montana is left in the ring, so he takes them all out with a tope con hilo! Montana stands tall before a CW commercial break.
When we come back, Montana gets dropped in the corner by Waller with a foot stomp to the back of the head, slides out the ring to clothesline D’Angelo, and side-steps Fatu sending him into the steel steps. Waller gets back into the ring and Montana chops him, Waller rolls through a sunset flip with a boot to the face, attacks him in a corner, hits a neckbreaker, and covers for 2. Waller knocks D’Angelo off the apron, sends Montana into Fatu to knock him off the apron, Montana floats over Waller, but Waller shoves him into D’Angelo knocking him off the apron again, Montana hits Waller with the Rolling Buck Fifty, Fatu drops Waller with a running back elbow, and D’Angelo drops Waller with the death valley driver. Zilla uppercuts D’Angelo with a throat thrust, face-off with Montana in the ring, they chop each other, Montana with a forearm, running chops, and Fatu uppercuts him in the throat. Fatu and D’Angelo face off, dueling shoulder tackles, D’Angelo clotheslines him, Waller pulls D’Angelo out the ring, tosses him onto the apron, gets back in the ring, clotheslines ZIlla in a corner, and delivers an overhead belly-to-belly suplex across the ring. D’Angelo delivers an overhead belly-to-belly suplex to Montana into the turnbuckles, climbs up the turnbuckles, pulls Waller up, and delivers an overhead belly-to-belly superplex!
Time for our final picture-in-picture of the evening. D’Angelo sends Waller out the ring and throws him into the steel steps, suplexes Fatu on the floor, punches Montana and smacks his head off the steps, then hits a cannonball as Montana was wedged in the middle. D’Angelo brings out a couple of chairs, starts to bring out a table, but Waller shoves the table back under to annoy the crowd. D’Angelo smacks him on the chest, delivers the fisherman’s suplex, floats over to cover, and gets a 2-count. Waller hits a big forearm, stomps on his back, Montana climbs up top, and Waller cuts him off.
Waller sets up for a superplex, but Montana blocks it, Zilla and Tony pull Grayson off the ropes, and Cruz hits a SUPER BLOCKBUSTER! “This is awesome! This is awesome!” D’Angelo hits a jumping knee to Fatu, sets him up on the ropes, Fatu headbutts him, re-adjusts himself, hits the big Samoan splash onto D’Angelo, makes the cover and the count gets broken up as Montana jumps off of his back for a DESTROYER to Waller! Montana and Fatu battle in the ring, Montana blocks the pop-up Samoan drop, shoves him into the ringpost, hits the cannonball in the corner, and covers for 2 as D’Angelo breaks it up. D’Angelo plants Montana with a pop-up powerslam, covers for 2, Fatu superkicks D’Angelo, hits the pop-up Samoan drop, calls for the finish, and hits the SUPERMAN SPIKE!! Zilla covers, 1-2-NO as Waller pulls the referee out the ring!
Waller tries to escape, but Fatu catches him and beats him down, then clears off the announce table. Waller counters Fatu with a rake of the eyes, shoves him into the ringpost, and D’Angelo SPEARS Fatu on the floor! Montana looks at the table, picks up Fatu, lays him down on the table, goes up top, but D’Angelo cuts him off, and both men drop hitting their heads on the turnbuckle. Waller is the only man standing, sees Zilla laid out on the announce table, he decides to go up top, and hits the CROSSOVER ELBOW DROP THROUGH THE TABLE!! Waller starts holding his leg in pain afterwards. D’Angelo crawls back into the ring, Montana meets him in the ring, they go head-to-head, they start scrapping, hits a jumping punch, Montana superkicks him, falls on his shoulders, slips off, Montana blocks the pop-up powerslam, Montana rolls right into a German suplex, but he pops back up all fired up! D’Angelo hits a big spear to Montana, sets up for the finish, but Montana counters with a lungblower. Montana hits SPIN THE BLOCK to the champ, but Waller rolls back in with the ROLLING THUNDER STUNNER to Montana, and covers D’Angelo for the 1-2-3 to steal the win!!!!! WINNER, and NEW, NXT CHAMPION: GRAYSON WALLER!!!
GRAYSON WALLER HAS WON THE NXT CHAMPIONSHIP! The NXT crowd is in shock, D’Angelo is unconscious in the ring, Montana can’t believe he got outsmarted, and Zilla is still hurting on the broken announce table. Meanwhile, Grayson Waller is in full gloat mode as he shows off the title to everybody as NXT Heatwave goes off the air.
