CM Punk and Cody Rhodes team up against Gunther and Sami Zayn with SummerSlam implications. We will see Bayley take on Lyra Valkyria; Fatal Influence challenge Brie Bella and Paige for the Women’s Tag Team Titles; Danhausen takes on JD Mcdonagh in a No-DQ Match; and much more! The “Countdown to Saturday Night’s Main Event” kickoff show starts on YouTube at 7:30 PM ET. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are the commentators for the event, Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon are the hosts at the podium, and Lilian Garcia is the ring announcer. Looks like we’re getting a bonus match to start the show! Danilo Anfibio is the referee for this match.
* Laredo Kid vs. Trick Williams {United States Champion}

They shove each other at the start, they lock up collar-and-elbow, Trick hits a shoulder block, Laaredo kicks him in the leg, Trick shoves him back, Laredo goes up to the top rope and hits a missile dropkick. Laredo wraps his leg in the ropes, mocks the crowd, chops the champ, Trick hits a spinning leg lariat, and beats him up in a corner. Trick with a hammer throw into the corner, covers for 2, does a standing delayed vertical, Laredo tries to counter with an inside cradle but Trick cuts him off to deliver the suplex. Laredo superkicks him, hits a springboard twisting senton from the bottom ropes, then hits a middle rope springboard corkscrew moonsault, and covers for 2. Trick goes to counter but Laredo trips him, Trick kicks him off, Laredo with a penalty kick, Trick ducks another kick and hits a jumping neckbreaker.
Trick fires up, punches him over and over, hits the crescent kick, misses another, gives him a flapjack, kips up, hits the backhand slap, lets his hair loose, and stomps him down to the chant of “Whoop that Trick!” Williams body slams him, floats over, Laredo counters the Book End with a roll-up for 2, lowers the ropes sending him out the ring, kicks him away, goes up top, and hits a somersault plancha from the top of the ringpost! Laredo gets him back into the ring, goes back up top, Trick rolls away from a corkscrew moonsault, hits the TRICK SHOT, and covers for 3! WINNER: TRICK WILLIAMS!
A nice little bonus match to get the crowd excited.
Stephanie McMahon is in the ring, and she introduces Oba Femi to the ring! The Oba hype train continues through SNME. Stephanie asks him about his latest comments about Brock Lesnar, and Oba reiterates that Lesnar has been running and hiding, and even bringing in fake police to get in his path. “Brock, I need you to realize: come SummerSlam, I’m not locked in there with you. You’re locked in there with ME! Because I’m the Ruler, the destroyer, the bringer of war, the mountain you cannot climb, the mountain that you cannot conquer, the one of one, the Beast slayer, The King of the Ring, OBA FEMI!!” Oba Femi is dynamite on the microphone and hypes up this match more and more. That’s it for the Countdown kickoff portion.
The main show is underway at MSG! Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon officially welcome us to the show, and then they throw to Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary. All three of Fatal Influence head to the ring first for the their title match, but only Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid are in the match with Jacy Jayne accompanying them. Brie Bella and Paige head out next as the champs ready to defend their championships. Jessika Carr is the referee for this match.
* WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Fatal Influence vs. Brie Bella & Paige {C}
Fallon charges Paige at the bell but she gets tossed out the ring, and that allows Lainey to attack her from behind and legally start the match. Paige gets the upper hand, Brie gets tagged in, takes her down, Fallon tags in, Brie gives her an armdrag, but Fallon takes over, and that makes Jacy happy. Paige gets the tag, hits the running knee, Brie with an elbow strike, double bulldog, Paige covers for 2, back kick, Lainey makes the blind tag, they double team Paige, and now Lainey takes her down with mounted punches. Lainey slams her head on the turnbuckle, Fallon tags in, punches and kicks in the corner, Lainey tags back in, snapmare, stomps on her head, and puts her in a chinlock. Paige counters with a jawbreaker, reaches for the tag, fights her off, Lainey pulls her back and makes her own tag. Paige escapes both women and makes the hot tag.
Brie takes them down, hits Fallon with a Russian legsweep, does the Yes Kicks, kicks Lainey in the head, and hits the Brie Mode knees to both women. Brie goes up top, hits the Henley with the missile dropkick, and covers for 2. Brie goes for the Yes Lock, but Fallon gets her foot on the bottom rope to break the hold, and both women take each other down at the same time. Paige tags back in, knee strikes in the ropes, punches Jacy on the apron, Fallon takes advantage, punch to the back of the head, sliding slam, Brie attacks Lainey, pulls Paige out the way of a moonsault, Paige makes the cover, and Fallon breaks it up. All women in the ring, Lainey punches Paige, pulls down her kneepad, Paige strikes, Jacy with another distraction, Fallon drops Paige with a clothesline, Paige side-steps Lainey in the corner, goes for the pin, Fallon holds Lainey’s hands, Brie takes Fallon down with a leapoing clothesline off the steps, Paige rolls Lainey up, but Jacy helps Lainey reverse the roll-up, and Lainey holds the tights for the 3-count! WINNERS, and NEW, WWE WOMEN’S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: FATAL INFLUENCE!!

Backstage, Cathy Kelley tries to interview Sami Zayn for his thoughts on tonight’s match. Sami says he’s has nothing but thoughts since losing the WWE Championship, and makes his complaints heard. Gunther shows up just as Sami starts complaining about him, and tells Sami to stay out of his way and not screw up SummerSlam for him.
We get a video of Danhausen un-cursing the New York Knicks, and we get the whole story of his problems with The Judgment Day, leading up to his match against JD McDonagh. Backstage in Gorilla, Jackie Redmond interviews JD about his non-belief in curses, and JD says he will put an end to Danhausen. JD heads to the ring with Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan and AAA Mega Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio who is carrying the Knicks jersey that belongs to Danhausen. (Liv heads to the back with her title and Dom’s as well.) Danhausen comes out wearing Knicks colors for his gear! Referee Shawn Bennett is assigned to this match.
* No Disqualification Match: JD McDonagh vs. Danhausen
JD rolls out the ring to avoid being cursed, and he has words of strategy with Dom who gets on the ring apron to distract him, which JD uses to attack Danhausen from behind. McDonagh throws him into the barricade a couple of times, smashes him into the ringpost, slams his head on the announce table, and Dominik gets in a couple of smacks on the table as well since there are no disqualifications. McDonagh throws him back into the ring, hits a diving fist drop, covers for 2, and Dominik is wiping the Knicks jersey on his shoes. McDonagh continues to throw him around, Danhausen starts to fight back, chops him, does the 10-punch in a corner, McDonagh trips him, delivers the brainbuster, and covers for 2. Dominik hands JD the Knicks jersey, wipes it on him, lays it across, and Danhausen rolls away from the diving moonsault.
Danhausen puts on the Knicks jersey, McDonagh slaps him, Danhausen fights back, inverted atomic drop, clothesline, northern lihghts suplex to Dirty Dom, splashes JD in a corner, McDonagh rolls him up for 2, kicks him in the midsection, Danhausen counters a suplex with the Stundog Millionaire, sets up for the reverse DDT, and Dominik jumps him from behind to stop him. JD and Dom team up on him, McDonagh headbutts him a couple times, they rip the jersey off of him, Dom helps JD bring out a table, but there’s a Minihausen on it! Two more Minihausens show up to attack them! JD and Dominik recover and they beat them all up. Danhausen is at the top of the stage to put a stuffed black cat and the ripped Knicks jersey in the cloning machine, JD hits one of the Minihausens with an elbow drop, they set up the table, they get ready to attack, but the cloning machine starts up on the stage. KARL ANTHONY TOWNS COMES OUT THE CLONING MACHINE! The big KAT steps over the top rope, gives JD a massive CHOKE SLAM, and gives Dominik a CHOKE SLAM THROUGH THE TABLE!! KAT-hausen curses McDonagh, and Danhausen hits the Triple D reverse DDT (Danhausen Death Drop) for the 3-count! WINNER: DANHAUSEN!

A slummed Lyra Valkyria is sitting glum backstage. Cathy Kelly interviews her before her match against Bayley, and Lyra says the last time they were in this building they were challenging for the Tag Team Titles. Lyra complains about Bayley not being who she wanted her to be, and heads off since that match is next.
More celebrities are in the crowd including Lin Manuel Miranda and Jeff Ross. Jackie Redmond stops Bayley to interview her, and Bayley says she’s the different one, lists her stats, and says she will be the one to end Lyra tonight. Lyra Valkyria heads out to a newly eerie version of her theme song, and she looks like a sleepless 40% version of her old self. Bayley comes out next and she’s fired up for this match. Danilo Anfibio is the ref for this match.
* Lyra Valkyria vs. Bayley
They lock up fiercely, Bayley drives her into a corner, they slap each other which fired Lyra up, Lyra slams her down, Bayley retaliates, Lyra scatters to the ropes, Bayley slides out the ring to continue the fight, and clobbers her on her back. Lyra is bleeding from her nose, and Bayley suplexes her off the apron. Danilo has to hold Bayley back so he can check on Lyra as we get a replay of a big forearm or elbow to the nose. Lyra jumps her, but Bayley fights back, Lyra blocks her, pulls her into the ropes, slams her down, shoulder thrusts to the midsection, but Bayley reverses a hammer throw that sends her out the ring in a bad fall. Danilo holds her back again, but Bayley hits her with a suicide dive! Bayley gets her back into the ring to cover and gets a 2-count.
Lyra gives her a hiptoss, snapmare, kneedrop to the face, Bayley reverses an Irish whip, Lyra with a knee to the back, and stands on her face in the corner. Lyra yells at the ref, mocks the crowd, Bayley strikes back, gives her a back body drop, Irish whip reversed, but she does a sunset flip out the corner for 2, and puts her in the Boston crab. Lyra kicks her off, Bayley hits a stunner in the ropes, goes up top, Lyra cuts her off, and hits a modified neckbreaker over the top turnbuckle. Lyra hangs her up in the ropes, kicks her, then hits a diving legdrop to the back of the neck, and covers for 2.5! Both women trade blows, Lyra with an elbow to the back of the head, Bayley counters a leg lariat with a suplex, sunset flip into the bottom turnbuckle, Lyra blocks the Roseplant, Bayley counters a clothesline, hits a clothesline from behind, and locks in the crossface! Lyra rolls through, Bayley blocks Night Wing, and Lyra catches her in the ropes. Bayley eggs her on, Lyra counters the Bayley to Belly, locks in the bulldog choke, and Bayley passes out so the ref calls for the bell! WINNER: LYRA VALKYRIA!
Lyra nudges her out the ring, she starts to leave, but she turns back and shoves Bayley into the ringpost, then puts her back in the bulldog choke! Lyra removes the top half of the steel steps, she says she’s leaving, but she grabs Bayley, and plants her with NIGHT WING ONTO THE STEEL STEP!! Lyra leaves smugly mocking the fans.
We get the announcement that while WrestleMania 43 is in Riyadh this year, fans in New York City can join the watch party in the Infosys Theater since it starts mid-day, then stick around for AAA Eternal Glory and NXT Stand & Deliver 2027 in New York!
We get a video package before the break to hype up tonight’s main event match, coming up next. Cody Rhodes and CM Punk have some friendly banter before the match. Cody asks who heads out first, and it’s his music that plays. Senior official Charles Robinson is the referee for this important match. The next men to head to the ring, Gunther and Sami Zayn, must win this match in order to be added to the title match at SummerSlam and make it a fatal 4-way match, but that’s only IF they win tonight.
* Cody Rhodes & CM Punk {Undisputed WWE Champion} vs. Gunther & Sami Zayn
The fight is on! Charles Robinson calls for the bell but all four men are in the ring fighting! Punk and Sami are the two to start, Cody gets the tag, hits a diving axe handle, Irish whip, knee to the midsection, wrenches the arm, Punk gets the tag, hits his own diving axe handle, and Sami drives him to his corner for Gunther to tag in. Gunther chops the champ hard on the chest, Punk falls out the ring, Gunther attacks him on the floor, and tosses him into the timekeeper’s area in front of Lilian Garcia. The ref starts his count, so Rhodes heads over to his partner and helps him get back into the ring so that they don’t lose the match. Sami is all over Punk on offense beating him down in a corner, sets him up on the top turnbuckle, Punk shoves him off, hits a diving crossbody, his face is bloody, and both men are down. Sami tags out, and Punk makes the hot tag.
Rhodes and Gunther battle it out, Rhodes hits the snap powerslam, connects with the Disaster Kick, hits the jabs and Bionic Elbow to Sami, Gunther grabs him, Rhodes lands on his feet from a back suplex, hits the Cody Cutter to Gunther, and hits Zayn with the suicide dive! Gunther catches him coming off the top rope, but Rhodes hits the SUPER Cody Cutter from the top, and covers for 2.5!! Gunther counters the Cross Rhdoes, tags out, Sami knocks Punk off the apron, Rhodes blocks the Blue Thunder Bomb, Sami counters the Cross Rhodes with the roll-up for 2, hits the Blue Thunder Bomb, and gets a near-fall! Cody side-steps the Helluva Kick, and both men are down.
Punk gets the tag, hits the diving clothesline, swinging neckbreaker, hits the high knee in the corner, comes out with the bulldog, goes up top, hits the diving elbow drop, covers for 2.9, locks in the Anaconda Vice, Cody intercepts Gunther, counters the powerbomb and locks in the Figure 4 Leglock! Gunther rolls Cody over and rakes Punk’s eyes to save the match! Sami pummels Rhodes, delivers the exploder suplex in the corner to Punk, and hits the HELLUVA KICK! Cody grabs Sami for CROSS RHODES! Gunther hits Cody with a clothesline, and Punk counters the pull-back lariat with the GO TO SLEEP!! All four men are down! “This is awesome! This is awesome!” Cody is first to his feet as he slowly heads back to his corner, and Gunther rolls out the ring. Gunther gets the tag, Cody is still on the ground not ready, Gunther shoves Punk into Cody to knock him off the apron, and locks in the SLEEPER! Punk tries to counter, Gunther fights off, Cody gets the blind tag, pulls Gunther off of Punk, hits the CROSS RHODES, covers, and SAMI SHOVES PUNK ONTO THE REF AND CODY to break the count!
Sami sees that the ref is out, so he stays in the ring to attack Punk some more, but Punk drops Sami with the GTS! Punk and Rhodes tee off on Gunther back and forth, Punk holds him up, Gunther ducks out the way, Cody collides into Punk, then Gunther takes out Rhodes. Gunther grabs the WWE Championship, smacks Cody in the face with the gold, tosses it out the ring, hits the POWERBOMB, referee Danilo Anfibio runs down, kakes the cover, and NICK ALDIS pulls Danilo out the ring to stop the count! Gunther yells down to Aldis for interfering, and Nick Aldis hits Gunther in the head with the WWE Championship!! Punk hits Gunther with the GTS, drags Rhodes onto the cover, Aldis brings Charles Robinson back into the ring, and the 1-2-3 is official!!! WINNERS: CODY RHODES & CM PUNK!!
The match at SummerSlam stays a one–on-one match between Punk and Rhodes! What does this mean for Nick Aldis after directly involving himself and affecting the main event match? Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon give their immediate reactions, then they run down the current SummerSlam card. Coming up next, World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and 2026 NBA Champion Jalen Brunson will close out the show. We get shots of more celebs and athletes in the crowd.
We get a video package narrated by Eli Manning of New York’s sports teams winning the big games, and now the New York Knicks have finally won the NBA Finals, leading to Jalen Brunson being named the new King of New York. A big blimp flies around above the ring to hype up the Knick big win, Jalen is introduced to the ring, and he makes the long walk along with several highlights of him in the NBA Finals. Roman Reigns greets him at the curtain, and they head out into the arena together with a big ovation.
The crowd chants Jalen Brunson’s name as well as calling the MVP, then they chant for the OTC. Roman asks the question we’re all thinking – what are they doing out here right now. “This is where greatness acknowledges greatness.” He says NYC is WWE’s home, and he feels like he’s at home when he’s there. Roman says it was a team sport for the Knicks to win, but there’s only one OTC and one captain, the MVP of the Finals, the NBA Champion, and the new King of New York. The crowd chants Jalen Brunson’s name again so loud that Roman stops talking for them. Roman says every champion needs a title, so the Tribal Chief presends Brunson with a New York Knicks blue strap with orange stripe World Heavyweight Championship with Brunson’s own personalized side plates. Now it’s time for NYC to “Acknowledge us.”
BURN IT DOWN!!! Tyrese Haliburton comes out with a steel chair wearing a Seth Rollins shirt! Seth Rollins attacks Roman from behind! Tyrese hands Rollins the chair, warns Brunson to stay out of his business, superkicks Reigns, places the chair down, shouts at Reigns that he won’t acknowledge him, places his head on the chair, and Brunson steps in front of Reigns. Rollins says this is his house, and that allows Reigns to hit Rollins with the Superman Punch, and follows up with the SPEAR!! Seth Rollins leaves with Tyrese Haliburton, while Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson hold down the ring with the championships and the NBA Championship trophy.
