Yota Tsuji

IWGP Heavyweight Title holder Yota Tsuji has accepted the challenge of United Empire member Jake Lee for his belt at The New Beginning in Osaka on February 11th. (NJPW)

This probably won’t come as a surprise to you, but Ethan Page retained his NXT North American title over Elio LeFleur in the in-ring debut of LeFleur on the show. (WWE)

Sean Legacy was officially added to the NXT brand ahead of last night’s broadcast and went on to qualify for the six-man ladder match for the vacant NXT Men’s Title.

Congratulations to Maria Kanellis & Mike Bennett: “William Mercury Bennett was born yesterday afternoon at 7 pounds 7 ounces and 18.8 inches. He is an absolute angel. William gets his name from his great-grandfather who is my godfather and was an immigrant from Greece. And my brother who is a veteran, husband, father, and wonderful brother. They are two of the toughest men I know. William Mercury’s name means strong willed warrior, messenger. We are so in love.”

The debut of Impact on AMC did 173,000 viewers and a 0.04 18-49 demo. (Wrestlenomics)

It appears the decision to release Trey Miguel by someone “from above” AEW in Warner Bros. Discovery came over antisemitic and homophobic remarks he made while responding to trolls on social media 6-7 years ago. (Outsports) In the wake of his release Miguel said he was taking a break from pro wrestling and apologized for his past behavior.

Jake Doyle says he still has two indie dates left wrestling as Jake Something.

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling signed a broadcast deal with Fight Nation that will make them available “in 196 countries.”

It wasn’t the slingshot clothesline that injured Je’Von Evans, nor was it his wrist he hurt — though the medical stoppage was legit. Evans suffered a concussion when he and El Grande Americano bonked heads, though he was medically cleared to fly after the match. (WO)

Apollo Crews and Elijah Holyfield taped a match for WWE LFG before NXT last night. We don’t know who won so it’s not really a spoiler — all we know is they met in the ring and someone recorded it. (BSN)

Tony D’Angelo was “arrested” on NXT last night. (WWE)

The latest “proxy” from Netflix on their Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition affirms it’s an all-cash offer, that AEW will stay with the cable & satellite division, and that they expect the streaming & PPV rights to stay with HBO Max.
