John Cena

In this interview John Cena talks about his decision to retire: “I can barely hang on right now. Like, I have certainly lost a step. And I promised myself, and I made open, accountable promises to the fanbase, that when I get a step slower, I am stepping out the door. So I can hang on for another five, maybe seven years, and just slowly, crustily saunter on out there and do my stuff. Or I can… the business has been great to me. I’ve been in it for 25 years. I’ve got 18 more dates left this year, my last match will be in December. And that’s going to be the door shutting on me. Hopefully I can maybe set a precedent of ‘Hey, maybe it’s okay to say you had a wonderful time, but it’s really time to go.’ Because the older you get, it’s really… I just want to be in a good partner to my wife, I want to be able to walk upright. I want my health into my final chapters of life. And the way I can do that or the way I can hedge that sure is not fall down a lot, post 45.”

MVP talks about the changing approach to injuries in during his years in pro wrestling: “There’s been an evolution. Nowadays, if you work for AEW, if you work for WWE, there is a full medical team backstage. There was a time when, if guys got hurt, they didn’t tell the office that they were hurt because they didn’t want to lose their spot; they didn’t want anyone to know that they’re hurt.”

Saraya f/k/a Paige talks about a possible return to WWE: “I haven’t had a conversation with them. I know, I always get tagged in everything, as soon as there’s a mystery going around, they’re like, ‘Hey, she’s coming back.’ But no. I love the WWE, but no. It feels good to take a little break from wrestling and then see the outpouring of love from people saying they want me back. I just want to get my feet wet outside of wrestling for a little bit and take care of myself this year. It’s consumed me my whole life. All 32 years of my life has been wrestling, so I just want to find myself a little bit outside it and next year, maybe come back.”
