Last night Mike Santana (currently of TNA Wrestling) was victorious in his NXT debut against Tavion Heights — but also showed him respect after the match was over.
Speaking of NXT, “All Ego” Ethan Page beat Ricky Saints for the North American Title, ending TWFKA Ricky Starks reign at 56 days.
Adam Pearce got to write a letter for his alma mater’s time capsule. He went to Waukegan High School in Illinois and they asked him to make a contribution that won’t be seen for at least 50 years. It’s pretty long so here’s an excerpt: “I hope this letter finds you and yours well, and that you get out of your time at Waukegan High School everything I did and more. I hope your success is Bulldog-stubborn and that you walk whatever path you choose to the final destination you dream about because there is no limit to what a Waukegan kid can do. And I should know. I am just like you.”
Speaking of big dreams, Mayu Iwatani wants to be the IWGP and GHC Women’s Title champion at the same time: “I don’t know if it’s presumptuous of me to ask, but if I receive an offer, I would love to participate. No woman has ever won the IWGP and the GHC, so if I can achieve that first and create a situation where I can compete with confidence (I will).” She held the IWGP Women’s Title in STARDOM and is currently the Marigold Super Flyweight Title champion.
Wrestler Tomohiko Hashimoto has announced a hiatus after his last scheduled match on June 22nd due to his liver cancer returning. “I will definitely come back to the ring after curing my illness with medicine. I also have one more singles match with Fujita and a goal to get revenge on, so please wait for me.”
Last Friday’s SmackDown did a 0.33 18-49 demo and 1.383 million viewers, which is down from 0.36 but up from 1.290 million the week before. (Wrestlenomics)
