IYO SKY, The Righteous, Will Ospreay, Zach Gowen, SmackDown, Beach Break, Impact, Nick Khan, AAA – Friday’s Wrestling News

Iyo Sky

Backstage in WWE, IYO SKY is considered to be their “breakaway star” of 2025. (WO) Nothing could please me more than that being true!

The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch) reportedly requested their AEW release themselves. (WO) More wrestlers should be willing to step up and do that if they’re not being used to their fullest potential.

Will Ospreay on what AEW can learn from New Japan: “The one thing AEW can learn from New Japan is presentation. The way they present their wrestling show is leaps and bounds over any wrestling show going. I’m very much along the lines that I don’t like camera cuts, especially during a sequence or impact of moves. I’m along the lines of… the name is AEW. All Elite Wrestling. If you’re signed to this company, that middle letter is very important. You’re an Elitist. You’re of the Elite in wrestling. If you miss a superkick or a splash, that’s on you. That’s not on the button pusher.”

Zach Gowen talks about being on Collision last night: “I haven’t been on a national tv wrestling program in 22 years. Thank you to those that remembered me!!! I haven’t forgotten about y’all either. The magic of professional wrestling is still very much alive in my soul and I’m so grateful I get to share that once again.”

Nick Khan talks about WWE/TKO acquiring AAA: “If you look at some of the recent wrestlers who came into WWE, Penta and his real-life brother Fenix in particular, both social media impressions- Penta on his debut, almost 100 million social media impressions. We see a spike in Latino viewership when he comes out. It’s something we noticed a few years ago when Bad Bunny came in on his run with WWE. The Latino audience would be there if there is someone like them who was there. Number one, it’s a new influx of wrestlers. It’s added to the demographic where we’re already strong. Worlds Collide and Money in the Bank will be produced from one truck. There are efficiencies there, there are good dollars there, and we’re excited about the overall opportunity.”
