Kevin Knight’s New Japan contract expired the week of Wrestle Kingdom 19 back in January of this year. NJPW wanted to retain him but he was expected to test the waters of free agency, which he did in February when he met with Rocky Romero & Tony Khan and worked an AEW/ROH taping, having a time limit draw with AR Fox. He also had interest from WWE, but one person their offer for a tryout wasn’t necessary because “what more could they see” given he’s worked all around the world in multiple major promotions. They also would have started him in NXT at a lower level than he’s already at signing with All Elite Wrestling. (FF)
