Bob Caudle RIP, Grayson Waller, CM Punk, Rebel, Mercedes Mone, AEW Full Gear 2025 – Sunday’s Latest Pro Wrestling News

Bob Caudle

I’m sad today to report the passing of Bob Caudle at 95 years old, though I am happy to say his son reports he went peacefully in his sleep overnight, so that is a blessing. His long time wife Jackie (76 years together) passed on April 27th of this year, and I imagine he was ready to go as well. For those unfamiliar with his name, Caudle was a fixture of the National Wrestling Alliance back when that organization was still the dominant force of professional wrestling in the United States. After becoming known as a local weatherman in Raleigh, North Carolina he got into broadcasting for weekly pro wrestling programs there and in Savannah, Georgia. He worked chiefly for Jim Crockett Sr. of Jim Crockett Promotions and became known as the voice of NWA Atlantic Coast Wrestling, which changed its name to Mid-Atlantic Wrestling when Jim Sr. died. He continued to work for the Crockett family well into the 1980’s, co-hosting the show with the likes of David Crockett and Johnny Weaver, and stayed involved as the program transitioned to NWA Pro Wrestling and later World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He eventually left WCW and went to work with Jim Cornette at Smoky Mountain Wrestling until late ’94, shortly before they closed doors in December 1995. He continued to make occasional appearances at conventions this century and even provided his trademark “so long for now” catchphrase for what was billed as “Ric Flair’s Last Match” back in 2022. He is survived by 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. My condolences to all of them and to his many fans around the world.

In a note so completely unrelated to that it almost doesn’t make sense to report it (to me at least) Grayson Waller is trolling fans at NXT live events by coming out to CM Punk’s entrance music.

More sad news I’m afraid — Rebel (Tanea Brooks) has pulmonary lymphoma (cancer). To further complicate matters she has a neurological disorder that has caused a speech issue, required the use of a walker, and taken away full functionality of her right hand. She reported on social media that she has to clear an infection before the cancer can even be dealt with. All of my love and best wishes to her.
