We’ll see John Cena defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in a street fight; Naomi defends the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky; Solo Sikoa against Jacob Fatu in a steel cage for the U.S. Title; Lyra Valkyria challenges Becky Lynch in a no-DQ match for the Women’s IC Title in her last chance; AJ Styles challenges Dominik Mysterio for the men’s IC Title; and six teams battle in a TLC Match for the WWE Tag Team Titles! Welcome to the hottest and biggest premium live event of the summer, and tonight continues history as the first time SummerSlam is a two-night event! This year they’re in East Rutherford, New Jersey for the event, and for night two Tigerlily sings “God Bless America” to kick it off. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett return as the commentators for the show, and we see clips of several superstars’ arrival. We get an opening video package with Druski again narrating and hyping up all the matches we’re expecting to see. Every match is a title match!!
Ring announcer Alicia Taylor introduces the Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Triple H says this is the moment and time for all to be a part of the biggest SummerSlam in history. “So if you thought last night was something, you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
Rhea Ripley is the first superstar to head out for SummerSlam Sunday! Iyo Sky heads out next to a big ovation from the crowd. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are the commentators again, as well as Marcelo Rodriguez and Jerry Soto. Naomi’s father Shawn McCray is on the stage playing guitar for her entrance! Alicia Taylor is in the middle of the ring for the proper title match introduction, and Jessika Carr is the referee for this match.
* Women’s World Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Iyo Sky vs. Naomi {C}
The match is underway, Naomi wants them to fight it out, but they inch towards her, so she walks out the ring. Naomi realizes she’s outnumbered and cornered, all three are back in the ring, they ping-pong her with punches and beat her down. Iyo dropkicks her, Naomi slides under to make Rhea boot Sky in the face, and Naomi clotheslines Rhea in the corner. Naomi hits a diving crossbody to both women, running kick to Sky, snapmare using her hair, delivers a suplex onto the top rope, and kicks her in the chest. Rhea goes for a suplex, but Naomi is biting her hand! Naomi pulls Sky through the ropes for a draping X Factor, covers for 2, rakes her back, and holds her in a front facelock. Naomi sends Sky into Ripley, hits the springboard kick to Ripley to make her DDT Sky, and covers for 2.
Naomi is in control of this match with a big stomp to the chest, gets tossed onto the apron, kicks her in the head, bounces her head onto the apron, hits a blockbuster from the top rope, and gets a 2-count. Naomi ducks under Sky, rolls through the sunset flip, kicks her in the head, and mocks her. Rhea is back to her feet, hits short-arm clotheslines, shuffle side kick, facebuster, Iyo hits the champ with a missile dropkick, and kips up. Iyo hits the 619, Rhea hits the release German suplex, and now we’re down to Sky and Ripley.
Rhea blocks a wheelbarrow, plants her with a facebuster, rolls her over for a 2-count, Iyo counters the Riptide with a rollup for 2, then tilt-a-whirls into the crossface. Iyo goes for a kick, Rhea puts her in the electric chair position, Iyo counters with the poison ‘rana, and Naomi breaks up the count. Naomi slides under a clothesline, Rhea clobbers Naomi, delivers the Razor’s Edge to Sky, powerbombs her, makes the cover, and Naomi pulls Ripley out the ring. Rhea stops Naomi from getting in the ring, throws her into the barricade and steel steps, clubs her on the back, and Iyo hits both with the Asai moonsault!
Iyo gets Naomi back into the ring, kicks her in the head, double foot stomp to Ripley, hits the Bullet Train Attacks to both women, walks over Naomi, hops up top, Rhea runs over Naomi and pushes Sky into the ringpost, Naomi kicks Rhea from behind, hits her with the SPLIT-LEGGED MOONSAULT, makes the cover, and moves out the way as she goes for the OVER THE MOONSAULT landing on Ripley! Naomi plants Sky with the full nelson bomb, and covers for 2.5! Iyo hits the Shotei, Naomi hits a running knee to knock her out the ring, Rhea headbutts Naomi, plants her with the RIPTIDE, stacks the cover, and Iyo breaks up the count!
Iyo and Rhea trade shots, Rhea kicks her in the head, she kicks Naomi in the head, Rhea hits the big boot, Iyo sends her onto the apron, Rhea boots Sky in the head, and hits a cannonball off the apron to Naomi. Rhea gets back on the apron, Iyo with a sunset flip over the ropes, and powerbombs Ripley onto Naomi right in front of the announce tables! Iyo gets Ripley back into the ring, climbs up the turnbuckles, Rhea cuts her off, Iyo blocks a suplex with the Shotei, pops up, Rhea headbutts her, gets Sky into position, delivers the AVALANCHE RIPTIDE, stacks the cover on Sky, but NAOMI ROLLS RIPLEY IN A SCHOOLGIRL GRABBING THE TIGHTS FOR 3!!! WINNER and STILL WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPION: NAOMI!!
Naomi just barely sneaks out of the match! Rhea complains about her tights grabbed to the referee, but in a triple threat match it doesn’t matter. This was a really good opening match.
We get a commercial promoting SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 1st and 2nd next year. We see Tyrese Haliburton, Nick Hogan and Michelle McCool in the crowd.
This is the 25th anniversary for the first-ever TLC Match, and we have OGs in the house – The Dudley Boyz are in the crowd, as well as the TNA World Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz! Coming up in a couple of months at TNA Bound for Glory, The Hardy Boyz and The Dudley Boyz will face off for one last time. It’s now time for the six-team TLC Match!
* WWE Tag Team Championship – TLC MATCH: The Street Profits vs. #DIY vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Fraxiom vs. Andrade & Rey Fenix vs. The Wyatt Sick6 {C}
Good luck to everyone in this match. The bell dings, everyone looks up at the titles, and all five teams team up to attack The Wyatt Sick6! Once the champs are disposed of, they all start fighting each other. #DIY grab a ladder, but MCMG dropkick the ladder back into them. Fraxiom hit suicide dives, then MCMG hit suicide dives, and Fraxiom are standing alone in the ring. Fraxiom grab a ladder, but they’re in the ring with MCMG, who stomp the ladder on their hands, but then Fraxiom send them out the ring and set the ladder up. The Wyatt Sick6 are back in the ring and throw chairs at them. Joe Gacy attacks Nathan Frazer and wipes him out. A ladder is leaning on the ropes, The Street Profits give Gacy a bock body drop and he completely misses the ladder and falls out the ring, so they pick him up, throw him back into the ring, and this time they properly give him the back body drop onto the ladder!
The Street Profits imitate The Dudley Boyz for getting a table and they stack two tables on top of two other tables at ringside. Tommaso Ciampa attacks Chris Sabin with a chair at ringside. Andrade and Rey Fenix attack The Street Profits, Fenix stands on Andrade’s shoulder reaching for the titles, The Street Profits suplex them, but Fenix and Andrade counter into the Three Amigos! Andrade and Fenix place chairs on top of the Profits, they go up, but #DIY cut them off and beat the Profits with more chairs.
Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano throw Ford toward a table leaning in a corner, but Ford dives over the ropes onto a group outside the ring. MCMG attack #DIY in the ring, and they drop Joe Gacy into a chair. Ciampa is building a ladder bridge from the apron to the announce table. Johnny Gargano takes out Gacy with a TORNADO DDT THROUGH A TABLE at ringside! Dexter Lumis hits Ford with a DIVING SENTON THROUGH A TABLE!! Nathan Frazer is laid out at a table, Rey Fenix has a crazy look in his eyes, and hits the FROG SPLASH FROM THE TOP THROUGH A TABLE AT RINGSIDE!!! Ciampa rolls off the table as Axiom hits Dawkins the SPANISH FLY FROM TOP ROPE TO THE FLOOR THROUGH TWO TABLES ON THE FLOOR!!!!
Candice LeRae comes down to ringside to check on her husband Johnny Gargano, and Johnny tells her to go up for the titles. B-Fab is here to stop LeRae, and drops her. Nikki Cross gets in the ring to pull B-Fab down and delivers a back suplex off the ladder!! Candice LeRae is back up, starts climbing the ladder, Gargano is holding the ladder steady, Ciampa is playing defense, Ford kicks Ciampa in the head, Ciampa bumps into Gargano, and Gargano leans the ladder over MAKING LeRAE FALL THROUGH THE LADDER BRIDGE!!! Gargano starts to climb the ladder, but Ford takes him out. Ford climbs up, but Erick Rowan pushes the ladder, Ford lands on his feet, Rowan hits the big boot to Ford, spinning heel kick to Dawkins, pop-up powerbomb to Ford into Dawkins, picks both Profits up, they break his grasp, and they beat him down with chairs. Rowan is already back on his feet, so they tackle Rowan through the leaning table!!! Several medical staff are checking on Candice LeRae.
Ciampa climbs the ladder, grabs the strut, MCMG pull the ladder away, Ciampa is dangling, Nathan Frazer dives at him, Ciampa pulls himself up to avoid him, Gargano superkicks Frazer, then Frazer hits a jumping knee, then Gargano superkicks Frazer mid-moonsault! Gargano moves the ladder back for Ciampa, Ford springboards onto the ladder to knock him down, Gargano gets up the ladder but Axiom stops him and hits the Golden Ratio! Ford is at the top of the ladder and Axiom headbutts him in the gut. Axiom grabs the strut, Ford stops him, MCMG climb up another ladder, #DIY climb up as well, and UNCLE HOWDY shoves one ladder over with Ford and Axiom, then shoves the other ladder sending #DIY CRASHING THROUGH THE FOUR STACKED TABLES!!!
Uncle Howdy climbs up a ladder, Nathan Frazer scurries up the other side, Uncle Howdy grabs him for the Mandible Claw, Fenix hits Howdy in the back with a chair, Frazer falls down unconscious, Fenix and Andrade climb up the other side, and Andrade hits Uncle Howdy with SUNSET FLIP POWERBOMB ONTO A LADDER BRIDGE!! Fenix climbs back up the ladder, gets closer to the title, but Lumis hits him on the back with a chair, pulls him off the ladder for a SUPLEX INTO THE POWERBOMB, they throw him out the ring, and Joe Gacy climbs up the ladder to unhook the titles and the champs retain!!! WINNERS and STILL WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE WYATT SICK6!!!
THAT WAS A CRAZY MATCH!!!! The Wyatt Sick6 still control the tag team division on SmackDown! I just hope everybody’s okay with no serious injuries, but HOT DAMN that was insane!
We cut back to last night on SummerSlam Saturday where Seth Rollins came out to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on his enemy CM Punk, and we get the replay in several different languages of various WWE commentators.
It’s time for our next match which will be without countouts or disqualifications. We get a video package (if you pay premium on Peacock) highlighting this feud leading to this match. The referee for this match is Danilo Anfibio.
* Women’s Intercontinental Championship – No Countouts, No Disqualification Match: Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch {C}
The battle begins with both women attacking each other, Lyra sends her into the turnbuckles, gives her a hiptoss, and Becky rolls out the ring. Becky avoids the dropkicks through the ropes and slams her face onto the announce table. Becky grabs a kendo stick out from under the ring, Lyra is back up with a crowbar, and Becky looks scared. Lyra smacks the kendo stick out of Lynch’s hands, Becky avoids the crowbar swing, Lyra lands on the apron and hits a diving crossbody.
Lyra slams her into the steel steps, continues to attack her at ringside, throws her into the barricade, and sends her into the ringpost. Lyra throws her over the announce table, Becky lands in Wade Barrett’s chair, and Lyra dropkicks her after Barrett moves out the way. Lyra pulls a table from under the ring, drags it to the front part at ringside, Becky comes from behind with a steel chain across the face, and holds it around the ringpost! Becky throws her into the steel steps, brings her back into the ring, picks up the kendo stick, hits her with it over and over, delivers a stick-assisted Russian legsweep, and gets a 2-count for the first cover of the match.
Becky hits her with the kendo stick again, Lyra avoids the golf swing, drops her with a slam, and gets a 2-count. Becky hits her some more with the kendo stick, brings in a toolbox and two steel chairs from under the ring, hits her on the back with the chair, Lyra fights back, but Becky hits a drop toehold into an open chair. Becky clocks her with the toolbox, covers for 2, takes out a ziptie from the toolbox, and ties up Valkyria’s hands. Becky hits her with a wrench now, jabs her with it, and covers for 2. Becky hits the Becks-ploder, delivers another Becks-ploder, Lyra falls out the ring, Becky hangs her off the ringpost, smacks her repeatedly with the kendo stick, sends her back into the ring, gets back in, and hits a diving legdrop from the middle ropes for a 2-count.
Becky kicks the toolbox out the ring, Lyra traps her in her arms, headbutts her, and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex. Lyra kicks her in the head, leaps off of two open chairs to dropkick her, and delivers a diving moonsault even with her hands tied! Lyra gets a 2-count and we get a replay of the moonsault. Lyra gets Lynch in a cravate and slams her face into the chairs. Lyra unties the turnbuckle padding to expose a turnbuckle, Becky cuts her off, sends her into the ringpost shoulder-first, Lyra falls out the ring, and she disappears. Becky checks under the ring, and Lyra sprays a fire extinguisher at her. Lyra tries to cut the zipties off of her, Becky grabs a kendo stick, and Lyra successfully frees her hands!
Lyra grabs the kendo stick, hits Becky with it breaking it, delivers a fisherman’s suplex, covers for 2, and Becky rolls out the ring. Lyra dropkicks through the ropes knocking a chair into Lynch’s head, picks her up, Becky blocks it, Lyra blocks the Manhandle Slam, then delivers the NIGHT WING FROM THE STEPS ONTO THE FLOOR with a loud THUD! Both women are down, Lyra rolls the champ back into the ring, but Becky rolls out another side, so Lyra gets her back in, Becky side-steps her into the exposed turnbuckle, and hits the MANHANDLE SLAM ONTO THE TWO CHAIRS, then covers for 2.99!!
Lyra rolls out the ring, Becky hits her with a chair, opens that one up, slams her face into the chair, traps her in the chair, kicks her in the back of the head, shoves her into the announce table, and Lyra backs her into the ringpost. Becky traps her in the chair against the Spanish announce table, stand atop the table, and stomps on the chair to take her out! Becky grabs the crowbar, goes for the swing, but BAYLEY is here to take the crowbar away!! Becky tries to get in her head, blaming Lyra for Bayley being off of WrestleMania, Bayley throws the crowbar down, Becky grabs the steel chain, Bayley blocks her and they start fighting at ringside! Bayley throws her into the barricade, Becky then side-steps her, and Bayley falls over the barricade. Becky leans on the table, and Lyra drops onto the champ CRASHING THROUGH THE TABLE!! Lyra gets her back in the ring, picks her up, Becky rakes the eyes to block Night Wing, then Lyra counters the Manhandle Slam with an armdrag, Becky moves out the way making Bayley smack Valkyria in the face with the chain, Becky plants Valkyria with the MANHANDLE SLAM, and covers for 1-2-3!! WINNER and STILL WOMEN’S INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: BECKY LYNCH!!
Becky Lynch retains the title thanks to Bayley, and now per the stipulations Lyra Valkyria can no longer challenge Becky for the title.
We see Jelly Roll at ringside, as well as Metro Boomin, Tigirlily Gold and Russell Wilson are in the crowd. The steel cage starts to lower as that match is next. We get a video package for the feud between Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. Daphanie LaShaunn is the designated referee to be inside the cage.
* United States Championship – Steel Cage Match: Solo Sikoa {C} vs. Jacob Fatu
Solo gives Jacob another chance to be by his side, but the crowd doesn’t like it, and Jacob uppercuts him. Solo goes on the attack, Jacob blocks the cage, headbutts him, hits several headbutts in a corner, ducks a clothesline, and hits the running elbow. Sikoa blocks the cage, Jacob kicks him, and Solo back drops him into the cage. Solo splashes him into the cage twice, hits the running senton, and throws him into the cage. Solo hits the running hip attack to knock him into the cage, covers for 2, calls for Ryan Tran to open the door, but Jacob grabs his leg to prevents him from walking out. The door closes as Solo does mounted punches.
Solo asks for the door to be opened again, Jacob grabs his leg, Solo looks at his taped thumb, Jacob ducks the Samoan Spike, superkicks him, Solo superkicks him back, and both men collide in the ring. Both men trade shots back and forth, Jacob gets the upper hand with more punches, throws him into the cage, Solo sends him into the cage, and Jacob smiles! Jacob fights back, hits the running senton, the running hip attack, plants him with the impaler DDT, lands the springboard moonsault, another springboard moonsault, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT!!
Solo’s MFT’s rush down to surround the ring now. Jimmy Uso is here to superkick Tonga Loa and JC Mateo! Talla Tonga boots JImmy in the face and throws him into the announce table. Solo drags himself to the door as it opens, Jacob stops him, orders referee Ryan Tran to close the door and not open it again, then Solo hits the SAMOAN SPIKE for 1-2-KICKOUT!!! Solo climbs up to the top of the cage, Jacob climbs up to stop him, pulls him back down to the top rope, and sends him back to the mat.
Tonga Loa and JC Mateo climb the cage, Jacob tries to fight them off, they make it into the ring, then Talla Tonga climbs up to the top to handcuff Jacob to the top beam of the cage! Solo crawls to the door, JC Mateo holds the door open, Jacob somehow breaks himself free, grabs Sikoa to stop him, kicks the door in JC’s face, Solo ducks a swing going back to the door, Jacob pulls him back in, and Talla kicks the door into Jacob’s face, allowing Solo to fall out the ring to win the match. WINNER and STILL UNITED STATES CHAMPION: SOLO SIKOA!
We get a replay of Solo Sikoa breaking the chain of the handcuffs to save himself. Post-match, Solo instructs JC Mateo to go after him, but Jimmy Uso superkicks him and throws him in the cage. Jacob beats up JC Mateo and Tonga Loa, goes for the moonsault, stops himself, looks up, climbs to the top of the cage, and hits a DIVING MOONSAULT OFF THE TOP OF THE CAGE!!! Jacob bounces back up to his feet like it was nothing!
We get the announcement for AAA Triplemanía XXXIII in Mexico City on Saturday, August 16th which will be streamed on WWE’s YouTube channel in English and en español. We then get a shot of Psycho Clown and Mr. Iguana in the crowd! We get a video package for the Intercontinental Championship. “Dirty” Dom heads to the ring first. AJ Styles rides in with styles driving a lowrider with his son in the passenger seat, and AJ is wearing gear similar to Eddie Guerrero from SummerSlam 2005 during the ladder match for the custody of Dominik!
* Intercontinental Championship: “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles {C}
Referee Eddie Orengo calls for the bell, and AJ drops him at the bell. Dominik teases getting in the ring, AJ chases him around, avoids an elbow drop, gives him a backbreaker, Dom calls for a test of strength, AJ doesn’t fall for it, he gives him an atomic drop, Dominik trips hiim up, and Dominik bounces off the ropes with a dive. Back in the ring, Dominik hits a tope atomico, covers for 1, stomps him down in a corner, and poses for the crowd. Dom sets him up on the top turnbuckle, Styles blocks the hurricanrana, Dom fights out of it, AJ hits a diving tornado DDT, and both men are down.
AJ hits the Phenomenal Blitz, hits the sliding forearm, jumping clothesline in the corner, delivers the ushigoroshi, and covers for 2. Dominik counters the Styles Clash, AJ hits the Pele Kick, gets tossed onto the apron, hits the forearm from the apron, Dominik ducks under the Phenomenal Forearm, plants him with the Michinoku Driver, and gets a near-fall. Dom delivers a suplex, swings over, second suplex, swings over, and AJ counters the trifecta with the brainbuster! AJ goes up top, Dom gets the knees up to block the frog splash, dropkicks him in the back into the ropes, hits the 619, goes up top, AJ blocks the frog splash and puts him in the Calf Crusher! Dominik reaches for the bottom rope, and grabs it to force the break.
Dominik kicks him away, side-steps him in a corner, exposes a turnbuckle throwing the pad down, referee Eddie Orengo goes to put it back, Dom grabs a steel chair, smacks the mat to trick the ref like Eddie Guerrero, tosses the chair to AJ and drops, so AJ places the chair around his own neck and convulses to further trick the ref! Eddie Orengo turns around confused seeing both men on the mat, both men get up, and the match continues as AJ hits a jumping enzuigiri. Dom tosses him on the top rope to crotch him, as he steps through the ropes AJ kicks the middle rope to crotch him as well, both men on a level playing field, Dom with a throat chop, and AJ rolls him into the Calf Crusher again. Dominik’s boot comes off, Styles looks at it and gets rid of it, Dom ducks a swing, AJ almost collides with the ref, Dom hits Styles in the head with his boot, goes up top, hits the FROG SPLASH, and covers for 3!! WINNER and STILL INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION: “DIRTY” DOMINIK MYSTERIO!!
Dominik Mysterio wins with Eddie Guerrero-style shenanigans! On the replay we see that Mysterio had unzipped his boot ahead of time knowing that AJ Styles would go for the Calf Crusher again, just like when Eddie Guerrero did that to Kurt Angle to win the match 21 years ago at WrestleMania XX!
Stephanie McMahon is in the ring with the honor of announcing that there are 60,561 in attendance for night two. The total amount for both nights is 113,722 making this the biggest SummerSlam in history!
It’s now time for the main event of SummerSlam 2025! We get a video package to hype up this ongoing feud over the Undisputed WWE Championship, where John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to become the champion at WrestleMania Sunday four months ago, and Cody Rhodes won the King of the Ring tournament to earn this opportunity two months ago. Cody Rhodes heads out first with the crowd singing his theme song. John Cena heads out next, and he’s back to a babyface entrance! It’s “The American Nightmare” vs. “The Greatest of All Time” in the main event! Alicia Taylor is in the middle of the ring for the proper title match introductions, Cody gets booed, Cena gets cheered, he wants the whole entrance from Taylor, and senior official Dan Engler is the referee for this match.
* Undisputed WWE Championship – Street Fight: Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena {C}
The bell dings, the main event is underway, the crowd is pro-Cena, the competitors step into center, Cena looks around, and he hugs Cody with words for him, and they start punching each other!! Cena throws him out the ring, Rhodes reverses an Irish whip into the steel steps, then Cena reverses an Irish whip into the other steel steps. Cena gets in Tyrese Haliburton’s face, You Can’t See Me, and steals one of his crutches to attack Rhodes with it. Cena brings the base of the steel steps into the ring, stalks his opponent, picks him up, Rhodes counters the AA with a body slam onto the steps, goes up top, Cena gets off the steps and shoves him down to the floor. Cena picks up the steps, presses it over his head, and launches it over the ropes at Rhodes!
Cena throws him back into the ring, gets on the apron, Rhodes hits the Disaster Kick, hits the Russian legsweep, and covers for 2. Cody hits the drop-down uppercut, covers for 2, puts him in a hammerlock with a chinlock, Cena powers up with every cheer, overpowers him, Rhodes floats over him, hits the snap powerslam, and covers for 2. Cena tosses him out to the floor in front of the announce tables, Rhodes checks under the ring, brings out a steel chair, Cena also has a chair, they both get in the ring with their weapons, they swing at each other, Rhodes hits him with the chair, covers for 2, wedges the chair between the turnbuckles, and Cena counters sending him into the chair.
Cena hits the shoulder tackle, shoulder tackle, spinning back suplex, You Can’t See Me, and hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle. Cena picks him up, Cody clotheslines him, another clothesline, jabs with the left, hits the Bionic Elbow, and connects with the Cody Cutter for a 2-count! Cena plants him with the ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT, covers, and gets a near-fall! Rhodes kicks off the STF, hits the diving moonsault, covers for 2, hits the Disaster Kick, and covers for another 2-count. Rhodes hits the Cody Cutter from the top rope, covers, and gets 2.5! Cena puts him in the electric chair, drops back, covers for 2, picks him back up, Rhodes blocks the Attitude Adjustment, hits the PILEDRIVER, and gets the closest near-fall! Cena hasn’t moved since kicking out, Rhodes tries to pick up his dead weight, but Cena pops up to deliver the ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT!! Both men are down!
Rhodes punches him, Cena punches him back, they go back and forth trading shots, Rhodes hits a pop-up sit-out powerbomb for 2, and Cena puts him in the STF!! Rhodes grabs the ropes, but Cena keeps the hold on since it’s a street fight, so Rhodes pulls himself to throttle Cena in the ropes. Back out the ring, Rhodes reverses an Irish whip to send Cena into the timekeeper’s area, Cena clobbers him with a microphone, then hits the CODE RED ON THE FLOOR!! Cena clears the Spanish announce table, throws Rhodes onto the English announce table, picks him up on his shoulders, and plants Cody with the ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT THROUGH THE SPANISH ANNOUNCE TABLE!!! “This is awesome! This is awesome!”
Cena brings Cody’s dead weight back to the ring, brings him back in, makes the cover, and Rhodes kicks out at 2.9! Cena gets fired up, Cody side-steps him in a corner, hits the CROSS RHODES, and covers for 2.9! Rhodes sets him up on the top rope, climbs up to him, up on the top rope, Cena powers out, headbutts him in the chest sending him back down, then Cena hits the DIVING LEGDROP to the back of the neck, hits the ARTITUDE ADJUSTMENT, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT!!!
Cena looks on perplexed, then smiles as he has an idea. Cena brings out a table from under the ring, puts it in the ring, sets it up in the middle of the ring, picks him up, Rhodes pushes the table over, counters the AA with a DDT and covers for 2. Cody leans the table in a corner, Irish whip, Cena slides to stop himself, Rhodes stops short, both men battle outside the ring, Rhodes sends him into the crowd, and they battle amongst the fans. Cena whips him into the barricade, Rhodes tosses a trash barrel, Cena catches it, and they have a hockey fight! They battle through the crowd towards the side of the stage, Cena rams a steel barrier at him, leans it, picks him him, then Cody suplexes him into the steel barrier! Cena crawls away, Rhodes catches up to him with punches, they battle near the smoke machine, and the fight goes UNDER the stage. Cena as Rhodes on his shoulders as they rise up the elevator shaft that Cody uses for his entrance, the champ has a smirk on his face, and he plants him with the ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT ONTO THE RAMP!! Cena drags him back up, picks him up in the fireman’s carry, walks him to the ring, places him on the apron, gets back in the ring, and this time Rhodes pops up, throws him through the table, and hits CROSS RHODES FOR THE 1-2-NO!!!
Cena lowers the ropes dumping him to the floor, and Rhodes hits him in the face with a chair. Cody unscrews the bottom metal piece of the turnbuckle, the bottom ropes are loose, and he hits Cena in the face with the steel! Cena struggles to his feet, Cody hits him in the face again, the crowd boos him, Cody looks at his handy work, Cena trips him, and locks in the STF USING THE ROPE AROUND CODY’S THROAT!! Rhodes counters with a side headlock using the rope, Cena is back to his feet, picks him up, Cody counters with CROSS RHODES, rolls through, CROSS RHODES, rolls through again, and hits the THIRD CROSS RHODES FOR THE 1-2-KICKOUT!!!!!
Cody Rhodes is shocked!! The crowd is chanting “Super Cena!” Rhodes grabs the championship belt, looking to take the shot, Cena catches him, hits the ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT, PICKS HIM BACK UP, AND HITS ANOTHER ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT!! Cena picks up the championship, tosses it aside, puts him on the top rope, goes up the the second ropes, hits the SUPER ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT, AND COVERS FOR 2.99!!!! The match continues!! Cena brings out yet another table, puts that in the ring, the crowd starts dueling chants for Cena as he sets up the table, he puts Cody on the ropes again, goes back up on the middle ropes for another AA, but Cody fights back, sprawls up, and hits the CODY CUTTER THROUGH THE TABLE!!! Cody is back up, stalks the champion, salute him, hits the CROSS RHODES, COVERS, 1-2-3!! WINNER and NEW UNDISPUTED WWE CHAMPION: “THE AMERICAN NIGHTMARE” CODY RHODES!!!!
WHAT A HELLUVA MAIN EVENT MATCH!!!! This delivered on all levels! Cody Rhodes is now a 2-time WWE Champion!! John Cena picks up the championship and respectfully hands it to Rhodes, and as he whispers words of encouragement it brings tears to Cody’s eyes. Cena steps aside in a corner to give Rhodes the center of the ring, and Cody walks over to shake his hand. Rhodes pulls him to the middle of the ring to raise his hand and steps out to give the legend his flowers, and the crowd chants “Thank you Cena!” Indeed, thank you John Cena.
BROCK LESNAR IS BACK!!!! MICHAEL COLE SHOUTS “HOLY SHIT!” LESNAR IS BACK IN WWE AFTER TWO LONG YEARS!!! Brock Lesnar circles the ring as Cena looks ready to throw down. Both men have a serious look in their eyes, Lesnar takes his jacket off, takes his hat off, they continue to stare at each other, Lesnar rushes in the ring, and delivers the F-5 TO JOHN CENA!! Lesnar glares at a prone Cena, and exits the ring, ending SummerSlam weekend with a lot to wonder for Cena’s remaining future.
