WWE SummerSlam Saturday 2025 Recap

The biggest show of the summer is so big that this year we’re doing it two times in one weekend! Welcome to night one of WWE SummerSlam 2025, where we will several matches take place, with more to come tomorrow! We’ll see Gunther vs. CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title; Roman Reigns and Jey Uso take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed; Raquel and Roxanne defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles against Charlotte and Alexa; Sami Zayn takes on Karrion Kross; Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul take on Randy Orton and his partner Jelly Roll; and Tiffany Stratton defends the WWE Women’s Title against Jade Cargill! Welcome to the hottest and biggest premium live event of the summer, and tonight marks history as for the first time SummerSlam will be a two-night event! This year they’re in East Rutherford, New Jersey for the event, and Jersey’s own Breland sings “God Bless America” to kick it off. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are the commentators for the show, and we see clips of several superstars’ arrival. We get an opening video package with Druski narrating and hyping up all the matches we’re expecting to see.

We get a wide and overhead shot of the crowd filled out in Metlife Stadium. Ring announcer Alicia Taylor introduces the host of SummerSlam – Cardi B! The rap superstar steps in the ring to get the crowd hyped up for the first-ever two night event. “Welcome to SummerSlam!”

Jey Uso walks through the concourse surrounded by hundreds of excited fans before calling for his music to play his way down the stands towards the ring. We get officially introduced to our commentary team including the Spanish announce team of Marcelo Rodriguez and Jerry Soto. Roman Reigns heads to the ring next and the crowd throws up the ones for the OTC, including Jey. The WWE Hall of Famer, “The Oracle” Paul Heyman, accompanies Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to the ring. Senior official Chad Patton will referee this match.

* Jey Uso & Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed

All four men start brawling at the start, Reigns with a 10-punch and uppercut in the corner to Reed, Uso uppercuts Breakker, the cousins call for an encore of Jey’s music to YEET again, and the music man complies! Breakker pulls Roman out the ring to ruin the party, Reed helps him on the beatdown, and Jey launches onto them all with a big dive! Bronson throws Roman into the steel steps on the outside, as Jey battles with Breakker inside the ring, hitting the big right, but Breakker dashes the ropes to clothesline him. Reed tags in, clotheslines him in the corner, mocks him, and Breakker chargers around the ring at Roman with a flying shoulder tackle as he was getting to his feet!

Reed hits Jey with a senton, Breakker tags in, Jey tries to fight back, but Breakker catches him off a crossbody for a powerslam. Breakker makes the cover, but stops mid-count to do push-ups like hits uncle Big Poppa Pump. Reed gets the tag, the crowd wants Roman, Jey is trying to make the tag, but Reed pulls him back to his corner with force. Breakker tags in, hits a backbreaker, gets on Reed’s back, they hit a stacked splash, then puts Uso in a chinlock while mocking Reigns. Jey gets to his feet, fights back, tries to leap for a tag but gets caught, and Breakker counters with a gutbuster for 2. Jey is outside the ring, leans against the Spanish announce table, but moves out the way as Breakker dives at him, crawls back into the ring, side-steps Reed sending him out the ring, and leaps for the tag as Breakker tackles him but Reed pulls Roman off the apron and throws him into the barricade! Reed gets the tag, gets cocky about their dominance, picks him up, Jey battles out, and hits the floatover DDT. Roman gets back on the apron ready for the hot tag, and he gets it!

Roman clotheslines Breakker twice, hits the jumping clothesline, ten mroe clotheslines in the corner, Breakker hits a back elbow, blocks the urinage, Roman clotheslines him out the ring, and he does a leaping dive over the ropes onto Breakker and Reed! Back in the ring, Roman plants Breakker with the urinage, locks and loads, hits the Superman Punch to Reed on the apron, Breakker rolls him up for 2, hits a jumping knee to the jaw, takes the straps down, Reed tags in, and Roman hits Breakker with the Superman Punch! Reed bowls over Reigns, splashes him in the corner, picks him up, Jey tags in, kick to Reed’s gut, uppercuts him, hits the spinning kick, enzuigiri in a corner, Reed clotheslines him, drops him with the death valley driver, and covers for a near-fall. Jey crawls out the ring, Reed hits a suicide dive onto Reigns and Uso, and Breakker charges around the ring for a leaping clothesline to Reigns over the Spanish announce table!

Reed throws Reigns back into the ring, Breakker gets the tag, goes up top, Reed with Uso in the electric chair position, Breakker leaps off the top with a diving bulldog for the old Steiners finisher, and covers for 2.5! Jey and Roman are laid out at ringside, Breakker charges around the ring again, but Roman hits him with the Superman Punch and he SPEARS BREAKKER THROUGH THE BARRICADE!! Reed throws Jey back into the ring, calls for the Tsunami, goes up top, but Roman hits him with the Superman Punch, helps Jey up to his feet, and they call for and deliver the 1-D to Reed!! Jey covers, Breakker breaks the count in time, and all four men are down. Breakker is the first man up, yells at the crowd, shouts that he’s the leader now, mounted punches to Uso, puts the straps back on only to take them back down, calls for the Spear targeting Uso, but sacrifices himself for his cousin to receive the SPEAR by Breakker! Jey superkicks Breakker, hits Reed with the Spear, goes up top, hits Reed with the USO SPLASH, AND COVERS FOR 3!! WINNERS: JEY USO & ROMAN REIGNS!!

Paul Heyman is apoplectic as he backs up the ramp. Jey puts the Ula Fala back on Roman after the match and the Samoan cousins celebrate their victory.

We get shots of Druski, Breland and Fat Joe in the crowd. The first title match of SummerSlam weekend is up next. Jessika Carr is the referee for this match.

* WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez {C}

Charlotte and Alexa can’t decide who will start the match, so the champs attack them without care. Roxanne beats down Alexa in a corner, Alexa comes back with a headscissors, tags out, Charlotte clotheslines Perez and knocks Rodriguez off the apron. Roxanne attacks her, but Charlotte throws her down, and Raquel clotheslines her behind the ref’s back. Raquel tags in, slams her face to the mat, Charlotte chops her, she flips over the ropes, boots Rodriguez in the face, thrust kick to Perez, Raquel catches her on her shoulders, hits a Samoan drop, Roxanne tags in, hits a cartwheel kneedrop, and covers for 2. Roxanne chokes her on the middle rope, Raquel with a cheap shot behind the ref’s back, Raquel tags in, lays in the hard elbows, and puts her in a chinlock. Charlotte battles out, hits a backbreaker, facebuster into the top turnbuckle, then hits a diving hurricanrana. Roxanne grabs her to prevent the tag, but Charlotte kicks her off, and makes the hot tag!

Alexa hits shoulder blocks, Thesz Press, slaps her, knee to the face, dropkick, flipping senton, covers, and Raquel breaks the count and drops Charlotte. Alexa dumps Rodriguez over the ropes, Roxanne rolls her up for 2, blocks Sister Abigail, hits a running uppercut to the back, Alexa avoids the springboard moonsault, Raquel tags back in, Alexa kicks her in the head, hits a DDT to Perez, goes up top, and Roxanne gets the knees up to block Twisted Bliss. Raquel clotheslines her, stacks the cover for 2, then puts her in a rear chinlock. Roxanne tags in, running European uppercut in the corner, Raquel with a corner, hits the big boot as Roxanne delivers a Russian legsweep, and floats into the cover for 2. Roxanne clubs her on the back, puts her in a mounted chinlock, Alexa gets to her feet, Roxanne slams her down, and tags out. Raquel mocks them, puts her in a backbreaker submission, Alexa counters, Raquel blocks the pin, Alexa avoids the elbow drop, and Raquel hits a shoulder tackle. Roxanne tags back in, covers for 2, puts her in a chinlock, Alexa counters with a jawbreaker, Roxanne prevents the tag, both women slam each other down with a hairmare, and both make hot tags to their bigger partners.

Charlotte hits a diving crossbody to both, chops both women, hits the somersault clothesline, delivers a fallaway slam to Perez, kips up, Raquel hits a big boot, Charlotte boots her back, walks over both women, goes up top, connects with the diving moonsault, and covers Rodriguez for 2! Charlotte goes for the figure-4 to Rodriguez, but Roxanne breaks it up with the springboard moonsault. Roxanne pulls Raquel out the way as Alexa swings and she punches Charlotte by accident! Bliss is frozen with shock. Roxanne throws Bliss out the ring, Raquel plants Flair with the TEJANA BOMB, Roxanne connects with POP ROX, and get sthe 1-2-NO as Alexa breaks the count with a basement blockbuster!

Alexa side-steps Rodriguez sending her into the ringpost, drags Flair to the corner, and gets on the apron to tag herself in. Roxanne with an inside cradle for 2, kicks her in the gut, Alexa clocks her with a big right, grabs her for the Sister Abigail, Charlotte gets back in the ring to stare at Bliss, and she charges with a Big Boot to Rodriguez! Alexa hits Perez with the SISTER ABIGAIL, and gets the 3-count!! WINNERS and NEW WWE WOMEN’S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: CHARLOTTE FLAIR & ALEXA BLISS!!

Backstage, The New Day, Tozawa, Maxxine Dupri and the LWO are in the viewing room. There’s one slice of “Papa John’s epic stuff crust” pizza left that Tozawa goes for, but Xavier Woods takes it instead. They argue over the pizza, Kofi Kingston says they’re still in mourning over losing the titles, an argument ensues, and Nikki Bella walks in with more pizza to calm everyone down.

* Karrion Kross vs. Sami Zayn

Scarlett is at ringside for this match, and Shawn Bennett is the referee. Sami charges with shoulder thrusts in a corner, Kross turns the tables, Sami fights back, and clotheslines him out the ring. Kross pulls him off the apron, sends him into the barricade, but Sami jumps up and moonsaults off the barricade. Back in the ring, Kross plants him with the death valley driver, covers for 2, demands Zayn to say what he wants him to say, Sami fights back, Kross clotheslines him in a corner, back elbow, discus forearm, delivers an exploder suplex, and covers for 2. Sami hits a diving axe handle off the middle ropes a couple of times, Kross blocks the blue thunder bomb, delivers the fisherman’s suplex, covers for 2, kicks him in the head, beats him up in the ropes, Zayn ducks a swing, chops him in a corner and hits the 10-punch in the corner.

Zayn bounces over him, clothesline, Kross blocks the blue thunder bomb, and delivers the Doomday Saito for a near-fall. Scarlett grabs a steel pipe from under the ring and hands it to Kross behind the ref’s back, then gets up in the apron to distract ref Bennett, but Zayn ducks the swing and plants him with the Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall! Sami pummels Kross until the ref pulls him back, he kicks him in the head over and over against the ropes once again being pulled away, and for a third time Sami loses it attacking him in the ropes and the referee admonishes him before checking on Kross. Scarlett offeers the steel pipe to Zayn and dares him to feed into his dark side, Zayn picks it up, thinks about it, but emphatically throws the pipe on the floor. Kross rolls him up for 2, Sami plants him with the exploder in the corner, hits the HELLUVA KICK, and covers for the 3-count! WINNER: SAMI ZAYN!

Sami Zayn signals that it’s over, and Karrion Kross nods in agreement.

Michael Cole announces that there are 53,161 fans in attendance, they acknowledge the passing of Hulk Hogan, and we get a shot of his son Nick Hogan in the crowd. We get a commercial for WWE Survivor Series in San Diego on November 29th. We get the announcement for AAA Triplemanía XXXIII in Mexico City on Saturday, August 16th which will be streamed on WWE’s YouTube channel in English and en español. We then get a shot of Psycho Clown and Mr. Iguana in the crowd!

It’s now time for the next title match! The “Queen of the Ring” Jade Cargill comes out with a beautiful jacket draped in Jamaican colors and heads to the ring for her first singles title match. The champion Tiffany Stratton comes out next. Ring announcer Alicia Taylor does the proper title match introductions, the referee Daphanie LaShaunn holds up the championship, and calls for the bell.

* WWE Women’s Championship: Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton {C}

Tiffany rolls her up quickly for a 1-count, ducks a clothesline, does an armdrag, and Jade hits a pump kick for a 2-count. Tiffany rolls out the ring, Jade goes after her, throws her into the barricade, suplexes her on the floor, kips up, breaks the ref’s count, throws her back into the ring, and Tiffany knocks her off the apron followed by a suicide dive. The champ gets her challenger back into the ring, goes up top, hits a Swanton, covers, and gets only a 1-count. Jade counters a handspring back elbow with a backbreaker, Tiffany tosses her onto the apron, Jade floats over her, hits a thrust kick, picks her up on her shoulders, hits a swinging sit-out powerbomb calls The Eye of the Storm, and gets a near-fall.

Jade hits a jumping elbow in the corner, Tiffany side-steps the pump kick, picks her up, rolling senton, Jade blocks the PME by shoving her over the ropes, then suplexes her from the apron to the ring, floats over, and Tiffany counters with a falcon arrow! Both women are down, they trade shots back and forth, Tiffany counters a choke slam with a hurricanrana, hits the handspring-backflip back elbow, rolls into the fallaway slam, but then Jade gets her feet up to block the PME. Jade plants her with JADED, rolls her over, but pins her too far back that her foot is on the bottom rope! Tiffany blocks Jaded, rolls through for 2, Jade plants her with the Choke Slam, gets up on the ropes, pulls her up for an avalanche Jaded, but Tiffany counters with a victory roll off the ropes, hits the PRETTIEST MOONSAULT EVER, and covers for the 1-2-3!! WINNER and STILL WWE WOMEN’S CHAMPION: TIFFANY STRATTON!!

Tiffany Stratton gets one of the biggest victories of all of her title defenses in her first SummerSlam.

We get shots of Tineke Younger, Cardi B and Stephanie McMahon front row. Coming up next is a tag match with Jelly Roll making his in-ring debut after making an appearance on last year’s SummerSlam.

* Logan Paul & Drew McIntyre vs. Jelly Roll & Randy Orton

Logan attacks Jelly Roll with a cheap shot before the bell. Ryan Tran tries to get control before getting the match to start official. Orton stands in the ring, the bell sounds, and Jelly Roll tags himself in as he wants a piece of Logan Paul right away. Logan starts with a kick to the gut and clubbing blows to the back, but Jelly blocks an Irish whip, hits a back elbow, shoulder block, Logan with another kick to the midsection, tries to pick him up, Jelly body slams him and hits a jumping elbow drop for 2. Logan looks shocked and sprawls to his corner, and soon it’s all smiles as he tags out to the Scottish Psychopath. Orton wants the tag as he knows how dangerous McIntyre is, but as he turns his back McIntyre smacks him on the back of the head, and now Jelly wants to stand up for himself.

Jelly steps up to McIntyre as the shorter man, McIntyre grabs him by the throat, Jelly smacks him, ducks a swing, hits jabs, and McIntyre hits the Glasgow Kiss making Orton worried. McIntyre chokes him on the ropes, chops him on the chest a couple of times, mocks him to make a tag, and shouts “I hear voices, and they say you’re screwed!” Logan gets the tag, they deliver a double suplex, Paul does mounted punches, the crowd jeers at him, he hits the split-leg drop, and covers for 2. McIntyre tags in, hits another chop, clubs him on the back, punches Orton with a cheap shot, mocks him, but then Jelly side-steps him sending him out the ring, and makes the hot tag!

Orton clotheslines McIntyre, knocks Paul off the apron, clotheslines McIntyre again, delivers the snap powerslam, and pulls him in from the apron for the vintage draping DDT off the ropes. McIntyre calls for the finish, but Logan pulls his partner out the ring, so Orton goes after Paul and throws him into the barridade. Orton counters McIntyre, suplexes him onto the Spanish announce table, then suplexes Paul onto the same table, and McIntyre hits the CLAYMORE to Orton! Jelly Roll checks on Randy, and Logan attacks him then hits the Titanium Punch! Logan cleans off the English announce table, McIntyre breaks ref Tran’s count, lays Jelly Roll onto the announce table, Logan Paul gets onto the top of the ringpost, toasts with two Prime bottles, and DIVES WITH A FROG SPLASH ONTO JELLY ROLL THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!!!!

Several medical personnel run down to check on Jelly Roll, and McIntyre rolls Orton back into the ring for what now seems to be a 2-on-1 situation. Logan tags in, they stomp him down in their corner, McIntyre tags in, picks Orton up, Logan tags in, and hits a blockbuster for 2. Jelly Roll is getting helped to the back, McIntyre tags in, goes up to the top rope, Orton cuts him off, and delivers a superplex! Jelly Roll turns around to see Orton is in need of help, but he pulls himself away from medical and heads back to the ring and gets on the apron!

Both sides tag in, Jelly clotheslines Paul twice, hits the Choke Slam, and delivers the Black Hole Slam to McIntyre! Jelly looks around at the crowd cheering him on, Logan hits a back elbow, Jelly counters a dive with a powerslam, and McIntyre breaks up the count. McIntyre hits Jelly Roll with the CLAYMORE! Orton hits McIntyre with the RKO! Logan throws Orton into the ringpost, goes up top, hits Jelly Roll with the PAUL FROM GRACE diving frog splash, and covers for the 3-count! WINNERS: LOGAN PAUL & DREW McINTYRE!

We get a commercial for WWE Clash in Paris on August 31st. Monday Night Raw will also be in Paris on September 1st. On SummerSlam Sunday we’ll see Naomi defend the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky; Solo Sikoa against Jacob Fatu in a steel cage for the U.S. Title; Lyra Valkyria challenges Becky Lynch in a no-DQ match for the Women’s IC Title in her last chance; AJ Styles challenges Dominik Mysterio for the men’s IC Title; six teams battle in a TLC Match for the WWE Tag Team Titles; and John Cena defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes in a street fight!

It’s time for the main event!! Will CM Punk finally win a championship after over 12 years? Will Gunther retain the title over “The Best in the World” in the main event? Will an injured Seth Rollins cost Punk the title after promising to prevent it “as long as he’s breathing” as his heated enemy? CM Punk heads to the ring first with a huge ovation from the crowd. Gunther heads to the ring with the championship around his waist, locking his eyes with his challenger. Alicia Taylor is in the middle of the ring for the proper title match introductions, referee Rod Zapata holds up the World Heavyweight Championship, and calls for the bell to start the main event.

* World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk vs. Gunther {C}

The main event is underway, these two men face off for the first time, they square up, the lock up collar-and-elbow, Gunther backs him to a corner, Punk reverses, and a clean break. They lock up again, Gunther words over the arm, Punk backs up to the ropes, and ducks a chop attempt. Gunther with a headlock takeover, Punk reverses, goes for a hammerlock, Gunther counters with a snapmare, Punk counters a chinlock with an armbar, wrenches the arm, shot to the elbow, puts him in the hammerlock, Gunther backs him into the ropes, and Punk blocks a chop. They try for a test of strength, Gunther powers him down, Punk bridges up, avoids a stomp, Gunther connects with a stomp, and hits European uppercuts in the corner. Punk works over the arm some more, kicks him in the chest, hits a back kick, and Gunther drops him with the BIG CHOP!

Punk goes back to the arm and kicks, takes him down, knee to the elbow, snapmare, and hits a kneedrop to the arm. Punk goes for the arm wrench, Gunther tries to counter with the sleeper, but Punk blocks it, blocks a chop, and hits chops of his own. Gunther reverses an Irish whip, Punk puts the boot up, hops to the top, Gunther chops him in the hamstring and the back, then puts him in the tree of woe with chops everywhere! Gunther feels confident at this point until Punk fights back, but Gunther hits another big chop making the sweat fly! Gunther wears him down with a chinlock, chops him hard on the chest again, delivers a scoop slam, taunts the crowd, hits knees to the midsection, then puts him in the abdominal stretch. Punk tries to reverse, Gunther counters the GTS, Punk counters the Sleeper with a rollup for 2, and Gunther boots him in the face!

Gunther kicks him in the face, chops him, and with every strike CM Punk is getting fired up and strikes back! Punk ducks a leapfrog, Gunther hits a big boot, chops him down, Punk starts to fall but Gunther pulls him back in the ropes, chops him again, and boots him in the face once more. Gunther taunts him, chops him again and again, Punk slaps him, chops him, kicks him in the legs, and Gunther chops him in the throat. Gunther mounts the back for elbow strikes and a rear chinlock. Punk tries for a GTS, but connects with an inverted atomic drop, goes for the Sharpshooter, but Gunther kicks him off, chops him, body slam, and puts him in the Sharpshooter! Punk rolls over, reverses the pressure, puts him in the Sharpshooter of his own, and Gunther reaches the bottom rope to save himself.

Gunther regains control of the match and chooses to mock the crowd and stands over his challenger. Each time Gunther toys with him it wakes Punk up, and now Punk is getting angry with punches to the champion and chops him back. Punk hits a clothesline, Gunther is still on his feet, Punk clotheslines him again, Gunther chops him again, Punk hits the calf kick, hits the swinging neckbreaker, Gunther counters the high knee with a powerbomb, and stacks him up for a 2-count. Punk catches him in the triangle choke, keeping his shoulder off the mat, Gunther slips out, goes for the Boston crab, Punk kicks him off, and Gunther chops him on the back of the neck. Punk counters the Sleeper with the Russian legsweep, hits the high knee in a corner, drops him with the running bulldog, and covers for 2. Punk goes up top, Gunther cuts him off with a chop, pulls him down with a slam, goes up top, lands the DIVING SPLASH, and covers for 2.5!

Gunther talks trash to his challenger, hits the short-arm clothesline, dares him to get back up, hits the lariat, wants him to get up again, Punk catches him on his shoulders, Gunther counters the GTS, plants him with the POWERBOMB, but he doesn’t go for the cover! Gunther calls for him to get back up, hits the running dropkick, plants him with another POWERBOMB, and stacks the cover for 1-2-KICKOUT!! Gunther is starting to get frustrated, but he’s not yet fazed. He chops him hard on the chest again and again, lays him across the top ropes, chops him on the chest, stands on his throat, and Punk falls onto the apron and gets kicked out. Gunther tosses him into the turnbuckle bars, praises himself in front of the championship, stands on the Spanish announce table to celebrate himself, and Punk trips him up face-first onto the table. Gunther comes up from under the table BLEEDING from the forehead! The champ has been busted open, and he gets into a frenzy disbelieving that someone else made him bleed his own blood!

Punk goes on the attack with jabs and punches, hits the high knee, short-arm clothesline, goes up top, hits the diving elbow drop, and he is on a roll! Punk picks him up for the GTS, but Gunther counters into the SLEEPER HOLD! Punk gets back to his feet, picks him up on his shoulders, hits the GTS, Gunther is wobbly but still on his feet, so Punk picks him back up for another GTS, Gunther falls to the mat, and Punk covers for the 1-2-3!!! CM PUNK IS THE NEW CHAMPION!!! WINNER and NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: CM PUNK!!!

CM Punk has FINALLY won a World Championship in WWE after 12 long years!! It’s took a lot of punishment from Gunther and a lot of determination for Punk to win the title, and filled with tears he holds the title! CM Punk gets a standing ovation after a hard-fought match… “BURN IT DOWN” IS HEARD OVER THE AIRWAVES!!!!!!!!

Seth Rollins comes out (on crutches and a knee brace) with Paul Heyman to remind everyone and especially CM Punk that he is Mr. Money in the Bank. Rollins shouts at Punk to hold onto it while he can, turns around, Heyman doesn’t leave though, but Rollins stops short, throws the crutches down, takes off his sunglasses, takes off the knee brace, rips his shirt off, and storms to the ring grabbing ref Jessika Carr to get in the ring! Punk and Rollins scrap in the middle of the ring, Punk picks him up for the GTS, Rollins fights him off with elbows, beats him down, hits him in the face with the Money in the Bank briefcase, bashes him with the briefcase repeatedly beating the hell outta him, hands the briefcase to ref Jess, and she hands the briefcase off and calls for the bell!!! IT’S OFFICIAL!!

* World Heavyweight Championship – Money in the Bank Cash-In: CM Punk {C} vs. Seth Rollins {MITB}
