Combate Global

BURBANK, CALIF. – April 28, 2025 – COMBATE GLOBAL today announced a complete fight card for its ‘Mexico vs. USA Part II’ live televised Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event in Burbank, Calif. on Saturday, May 9

The COMBATE GLOBAL card will air live in the U.S. at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT in Spanish on EstrellaTV and Samsung TV Plus; live in the U.S. in English on Samsung TV Plus (COMBATE GLOBAL English channel on Samsung TV Plus); and live worldwide in English on the COMBATE GLOBAL channel on YouTube.

The event will also air live in Mexico on Samsung TV Plus at 9 p.m. CT.

Priced from $30, tickets for the COMBATE GLOBAL event on May 9 are on sale at Ticketon.com.

“With The World Cup approaching, we present this early matchup of Mexico vs. the U.S. – always among our highest rated shows,” said COMBATE GLOBAL CEO Campbell McLaren. “Unlike soccer, though, we allow punches and kicks. This is always a battle!”

In a 130-pound catchweight main event, Gianni “Kriptonita” Vazquez (13-5-1) will represent his native Mexico against Kamron Ortikov (7-2).

The 31-year-old Vazquez, born and raised in Mexico City, fights out of the Irvine, Calif.-based camp of famed MMA trainer, Colin Oyama.

Vazquez had been scheduled to headline the first 2026 installment of ‘Mexico vs. USA’ on April 11, but his matchup with Alvin Welch was scratched 48 hours prior to fight time due to a medical issue associated with Welch.

Vazquez is the lone fighter in history to have defeated world-ranked contender, David Martinez, an achievement that came on April 2021, when Vazquez earned a split decision over Martinez at COMBATE GLOBAL.

Fighting out of Sacramento, Calif. where he trains with retired, former superstar Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male, the 25-year-old Ortikov is a native of Uzbekistan with experience fighting in his home country as well as elsewhere internationally, including Thailand and Abu Dhabi.

Both Vazquez and Ortikov have earned more than half of their career wins by way of (T)KO or submission.

Also announced today was a welterweight (170 pounds) matchup between undefeated phenom Jaden Ortega (6-0) and Alan “El Tiburón Blanco” Dominguez (11-8).

Since making his COMBATE GLOBAL debut two years ago, the 23-year-old Ortega of Spokane, Wash. has been an unstoppable force, toppling multiple opponents with far more professional fight experience than him.

In his first start of the year on February 26, Ortega crumbled Ricardo “Woody” Chavez, who entered the bout with over 50 professional fights under his belt, in the second round (:26) of their matchup with a kick followed by a barrage of punches.

Fighting out of Guadalajara, Jal., Mexico, the 29-year-old Dominguez represents yet another highly experienced opponent for Ortega.

Dominguez holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Also returning to action for the second time in 2026 will be undefeated atomweight (105 pounds) sensation Janet Garcia (6-0) of San Jose, Calif.

Arguably the best atomweight in the world, Garcia will be the lone American fighter on the card to face a non-Mexican opponent in Melissa Gomez (6-1) of Santiago, Chile in a 110-pound catchweight fight.

Elsewhere on the card, a lightweight (155 pounds) contest will see battle-tested veteran Ivan “Choko” Castillo (25-18) of Ensenada, B.C., Mexico collide with Ashton Charlton (9-3) of Spokane.

Leading off the card will be a 150-pound catchweight affair between Jose “Ochito” Ochoa (3-1) of Mexicali, B.C., Mexico and unbeaten Adrian Segovia (2-0) of Los Angeles.
