Tommaso Ciampa

In this interview Tommaso Ciampa talks about passionate wrestling fans: “There’s a really fun nuance to that underground passionate fan base. I compare it to ECW of the 90s, ROH of the early 2000s, black and gold NXT of the 2010s. Now it’s AEW of the 2020s. It’s a different dynamic. It’s a different crowd. It takes a different kind of performer, and one’s not better than the other, and one’s not worse than the other. A lot of it has to do with your strengths and weaknesses. Also, what do you enjoy? I really enjoy and connect with that passionate underground fanbase, where it almost feels like the company and the crowd as a whole has a chip on its shoulder, like that’s something I’ve just been drawn to my whole life. So it’s been refreshing, it’s been really fun.”

Coincidentally Ciampa lost the TNT Title to Kyle Fletcher on Dynamite.

Via social media Ricky Saints made his feelings abundantly clear following his attack on Joe Hendry this week on NXT: “So now, I’m left to think, it’s not about what I can do you, but what the hell can you do for me? Every single person that you put your cart behind, I can dog walk them. I outrun them. I outpace them. That’s the kind of guy I am. Fourteen years strong, ain’t nobody doing it like me. There will always be a stark contrast. Put ’em next to me, and I’ll prove it. I’ve done it time after time after time, and you’ve chosen wrong time after time after time. But now, you need me.”

Joe Hendry talks about Kit Wilson’s music being compared to his: “I think when you have something that clicks with the audience, you can only really take a beat to celebrate it, and then the next thing has got to be, what’s next? I have to say, the song’s pretty catchy. Do I think it’s as good as I Believe In Joe Hendry? Come on, let’s not get ridiculous. But that sounds like the type of thing that two people could feud over. So you never know. We may cross paths at some point.”

Ricochet says AEW restored his love of wrestling: “We’re given time to tell our story physically in the ring, for the most part, and that’s the beauty of AEW. One of my best attributes has been making others look good, making others honestly look better than they are. And that’s not even a knock on anybody. It’s just something I’ve always been really good at. I think another beauty of AEW is that basically everybody on the roster is good at making everyone else look good as well. I don’t want to say it’s a goal, but it’s something we all take seriously. Putting in work for everybody else. We get time in the ring to tell our story. We get more opportunities to get in the ring and tell our stories there, as opposed to WWE, which is a lot more promo-based storytelling. To each their own. Everyone likes what they like. But that’s what I really like about AEW, and that’s what I grew up loving, that style and the in-ring stuff.”
