GLORY COLLISION 8 took place Saturday night, December 13, from the GelreDome in Arnhem, the Netherlands and it provided one of the most action-packed nights in GLORY history.
Tournament were the theme of the night and taking centre stage was the Last Heavyweight Standing as the two final entrants punched their tickets in the February 7 finals.
The returning Antonio Plazibat (23-5, 16 KO) defeated longtime rival Nordine Mahieddine (29-16, 13 KO) with a hugely impressive unanimous decision. It was thirty months since his last fight due to injury; however, the Croatian superstar showed no signs of ring rust as he dropped Mahieddine early in the fight. Plazibat will now face Mory Kromah at the Last Heavyweight Standing finals on February 7.
In an explosive co-main event, the legend Errol Zimmerman (112-20-1, 45 KO) stopped Australia’s strongest man Alex Simon (1-1, 1 KO) via KO in the first round. ‘The Bonecrusher’ lived up to his moniker and rolled back the years as his experience showed. Zimmerman will now face Anis Bouzid in the tournament on February 7.
The COLLSION 8 welterweight tournament saw Endy Semeleer (40-3, 18 KO) defeat a valiant Teodor Hristov (19-5, 7 KO) and Don Sno (7-2, 3 KO) in one night to claim his first ever tournament win in GLORY. Hristov pulled off a huge upset win over reigning champion Chico Kwasi (45-6-2, 23 KO) in his semi-final.
The star power of Michael Boapeah (23-5-1, 9 KO) grew further as the ‘Timebomb’ won the COLLISION 8 light heavyweight tournament thanks to hugely impressive wins over Milos Cvjeticanin (17-5, 10 KO) and Iuri Fernandes (10-2, 4 KO). The former middleweight title contender is now 4-0 at light heavyweight and looks to be a force in the division.
In the GLORY x RISE Last Featherweight Standing, GLORY champion Petch (175-40-3, 27 KO), Portuguese sensation Miguel Trindade (64-8, 26 KO), and Mexican KO artist Abraham Vidales (18-4, 13 KO) all advance through to the next round on the GLORY side of the bracket.
