Summer’s almost over, but right now there’s a Heatwave! The hottest NXT superstars are looking to end this season with a scorcher of a show! Oba Femi will defend his NXT Championship against the red hot Je’Von Evans; DarkState are challenging Hank & Tank for the NXT Tag Team Titles; Jacy Jayne defends only the TNA Knockout Title in a triple threat match; Jordynne Grace takes on Blake Monroe; we’ll see a #1 contender’s triple threat match for the women’s title in the future; and it’s USA vs. Canada in a mixed tag match! For transparency, this recap is coming up late as I was actually there live in Lowell, Massachusetts at the PLE this past Sunday! So it’ll be interesting to see the differences from live compared to how it came across on TV. We get a video package to hype up the show, then we kick off with Ms. Parker! Vic Joseph and Booker T are the commentators for the show, as Corey Graves is with the Raw crew overseas on the European tour and getting ready for WWE Clash in Paris this weekend.
* #1 Contender’s Match for NXT Women’s TItle: Jaida Parker vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice
They argue at the start, Jaida pushes Kelani into Lola, slams her down, then Lola and Kelani team up on her, Kelani rolls Lola up for 1, and knocks Jaida off the apron. The two have a stalemate, but Jaida clotheslines them both to gain momentum, body slams both women, and the crowd chants “Ms. Parker!” as she gives them a noggin-knocker. Jaida puts Kelani in the corner, slaps her chest, slaps Lola’s chest, stacks them up, and hits the springboard hip drop and high-steps. Jaida throws Kelani out the ring, plants Lola with a Samoan drop, covers for 2, Kelani stomps on her back, kicks Lola in the head, and hits a springboard twisting legdrop to Lola. Jaida breaks up the count, fights with Kelani outside the ring, and Kelani gives her a hurricanrana on the floor.
Kelani gives Lola a sit-out DDT to Lola in the ring, covers for 2, goes up top, Jaida pushes her off, Lola catches Jaida with a triangle, and Kelani breaks it up with a frog splash! Jaida and Kelani battle on the apron, Kelani blocks a suplex, lands on her feet in the ring, superkicks her, and hits a corkscrew plancha to both women. Kelani throws Lola back into the ring, hits a handspring splitting stunner, covers for 2, and locks in the half-crab until Lola kicks her off. Lola rolls her up into a dragon sleeper, Kelani counters, Lola superkicks her, rapid kicks to both women, and hits the running hip attack to both women in opposite corners. Lola gives Kelani a saito suplex, covers for 2, goes back to the dragon sleeper, Jaida hits a running blockbuster, 2-count on both women, throws Lola out the ring, Kelani fights back, Jaida plants her with a spinebuster and gets a near-fall.
Jaida goes on offense with the crowd chanting her name again, sets Kelani up on the top rope, sets up for a superplex, Lola comes up behind, and they do a Tower of Doom spot! All three women are down, they punch each other, Jaida hits a back elbow to Lola, Kelani drops Jaida, but gets her knees up to block the split-legged moonsault. Jaida delivers a gourdbuster to Kelani onto Lola, then Lola hits Jaida with a spin kick, Kelani plants Lola with a spinning Samoan drop, Lola counters the 450 Splash with the triangle, transitions into a front facelock, Jaida hits the Hip-Notic on Kelani as Lola releases the hold, then does a schoolgirl rollup to Jaida for 3! WINNER and New #1 Contender to the NXT Women’s Championship: LOLA VICE!

We get a video of The Culling accepting Tatum Paxley and praising her on her match against Sol Ruca a couple weeks ago. Backstage, we see Jordynne Grace getting ready for her match.
* NXT Tag Team Championship: DarkState vs. Hank & Tank {C}
All four men of DarkState are dressed to compete, so which two will be the representatives of the match? Saquon Shugars says he’ll start the match as the other three step out, Tank Ledger is on the apron, Hank Walker charges at Shugars, but Shugars leaves the ring as Lennox attacks from behind! Dion Lennox stays in the ring, Osiris Griffin is on the apron, Cutler James and Saquon Shugars are outside the ring, and we have our answer.
The bell officially sounds to start the match. Hank is on offense, Lennox clotheslines him, Hank fires up back on offense, Tank tags in, the champs splash him in the corner, and Tank hits a springboard shoulder tackle for a 1-count. Osiris tags in, they hit double team attacks, Osiris body slams him, Tank counters, escapes the corner, and tags out. All four men are in the ring for a standoff, the champs knock James and Shugars off the apron, Dion and Osiris attack, and all four men brawl until Hank and Tank clothesline them out the ring and hit double suicide dives!
Hank is back in the ring with Dion, splash in the corner, bulldog, goes up top, Dion drops him, Osiris tags in and knocks him to the ground. Dion tags in, beats him down on the steps, Osiris tags in, slams his head on the apron, Hank battles back, blocks a suplex, reaches for the tag, Osiris powerslams him, Tank breaks up the count, and Dion leaps over the other men to clothesline Tank. The challengers with a hammer throw to Hank in a corner, Dion covers for 2, then puts him in a chinlock, Hank battles out, Tank is back on the apron to block the turnbuckles, and Hank clotheslines Dion before making the hot tag!
Tank drops both men, saito suplex to Lennox, springboard crossbody to both men, knocks Shugars off the apron into James, and plants Lennox with the full nelson bomb! Osiris breaks up the count, throws Hank out the ring, Hank ducks a clothesline from James, Osiris kicks him in the head, and Cutler sends Hank into the ringpost head-first. Tank is alone now, gets rolled up, kicks out at 2, Dion plants him with a spinebuster, Osiris tags in, they hit a double powerbomb, and Osiris covers for 2.5! Dion tags in, they set him up on the top rope, Tank fights them off, drops Dion onto Osiris, and drops onto them with a Swanton!
Hank rises up from the ashes, ducks an incoming Shugars, side-steps James by the ringpost, gets back on the apron, gets his own hot tag, tosses Osiris out the ring, ducks a clothesline and gives Dion the Bossman Slam! Hank goes up top, and hits a diving crossbody to Cutler, Saquon and Osiris outside the ring! Hank & Tank take their shirts off, they hit the Honk Honk double splash to Dion in the center, Hank picks him up, but Saquon jumps on the apron so that Cutler can trip up and crotch Tank in the ringpost behind the ref’s back. Dion shoves Hank into the turnbuckles, Osiris tags in, they hit the Doomsday Device, and Osiris covers for 3!! WINNERS and NEW NXT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: DARKSTATE!!

Backstage, Ava admonishes Lexis King for his actions against Miles Bourne, and announces a Blindfold Match between the two for NXT. We get the announcement that the next PLE for NXT will be WWE No Mercy and it takes place on Saturday, September 27th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
We go to our next title match which is not even for an NXT title, but a TNA title. Ash by Elegance heads to the ring first after an introduction by The Personal Concierge, and she’s accompanied by her TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship partner Heather by Elegance and also M by Elegance. Masha Slamovich comes out next all by herself. Finally, Jacy Jayne makes her way out with both her TNA Knockouts World Championship and the NXT Women’s Championship, alongside Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx.

Jacy watches the TNA wrestlers shove each other, they both shove her away, they trade rollups and pinfalls, Jacy hits a running neckbreaker to Masha, hits Ash with a cannonball off the apron, she celebrates with Fallon and Jazmyn, then Masha hits them all with a corkscrew suicide dive. Masha gets Ash back into the ring, does three snapmares, kicks her in the back and the chest, covers for 2, Jacy trips her up, hits a running kick, hits a running hurricanrana to Ash followed by a running back elbow for a 2-count, kicks her in the chin, and hits a running senton.
Masha is back in the ring, clotheslines both women, covers Ash for 2, scares Concierge off the apron, Jacy superkicks her, Ash rolls up Jacy for 2, gives her a flapjack, flipping neckbreaker, and covers for 2. Ash hits a handspring splash in a corner, counters a hurricanrana with a sit-out powerbomb, and gets a near-fall. Masha gets back in, big boot to Ash, Jacy clobbers her in the back, Masha hits a springboard missile dropkick, high knee to Jacy, running boot to Ash, clotheslines Jacy to make her DDT Ash, and covers Jacy for 2. Jacy hits Masha with a shotgun dropkick, hits the cannonball to both women, Masha plants her with a running death valley driver into Ash, and gets a 2-count on both women.
Jacy and Masha trade shots, Masha kicks her in the head, Jacy hits a big knee in the ropes, hits a draping neckbreaker, covers, and Ash breaks up the count then throws the champ out the ring. Masha avoids the springboard moonsault, Jacy hits a diving senton onto Ash from the middle ropes, and covers for 2. Jacy gets Masha on the ropes, sets up for a superplex, Masha blocks it, Jacy with a kick, does a top rope hurricanrana, follows up with a running superkick, and Ash breaks up the count with a diving meteora! Ash makes the cover on the champ, but Fallon puts Jacy’s leg on the bottom rope to stop the count. The Elegance Brand get in an argument with Fatal Influence at ringside, Ash begs her stable to not do anything, Jazmyn clocks Ash in the face, and the referee EJECTS Fatal Influence from ringside!
Masha rolls up Ash for 2, Jacy hot shots her on the middle rope, Masha puts Jacy in the electric chair and drops her on the apron, Ash goes up top and lands a flying crossbody onto both women! Ash covers Masha for 2 in the ring, Masha kicks her in the head, Ash hits a big knee strike, lands the tornado DDT, connects with the springboard moonsault, Jacy hits Ash with the running knee strike, and covers Masha for 2.9! Masha counters the knee strike with a schoolgirl rollup for 2.5, Jacy hits her with the ROLLING ENCORE, makes the cover, but The Elegance Brand pull her out the ring. Ash goes up top, hits the SWANTON onto Masha, covers, and gets the 1-2-3!! WINNER and NEW TNA KNOCKOUTS WORLD CHAMPION: ASH BY ELEGANCE!!
Ash by Elegance is the TNA wrestler to snatch the TNA Knockouts World Championship out of the grasp of Jacy Jayne, and the former Dana Brooke is finally a world champion! Now Ash is a double champion in her own right, also as one-half of the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champions.
Backstage, Je’Von Evans is warming up for his main event match. Ricky Saints walks up to check on him, Je’Von is ready to go, and says he’s leaving as the champion. Ricky supports him, believes that he is the future of NXT and WWE, and says he himself is also a future world champion.
We get another announcement for a future PLE for NXT and it’s going to be WWE Halloween Havoc on Saturday, October 25th in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
* Blake Monroe vs. Jordynne Grace
Blake slaps her right away, regrets that move, runs away behind the announcers, Jordynne chases after her, catches her with a Thesz Press in the ring, and they trade mounted punches. Jordynne hits a tilt-a-whirl gutbuster, leg-trap suplex, a fallaway slam on the floor, walks her up the steps, but Blake slams her back onto the steel steps, and slams her arm onto the steps. Blake is obviously proud of herself as she waits for the referee to count her out, but then strikes as soon as she rolls back into the ring. Blake with an arm wrench slamming her to the mat, gets only a 1-count, and dropkicks her out the ring.
Blake yanks her arm pulling her into the ringpost, gets her back in the ring, covers for 2, then puts her in a seated full nelson, then transitions into a cross armbreaker, and Jordynne counters with a 2-count. Blake continues to work over the left arm, Jordynne tries to make a comeback, but Blake hits a sling blade, and gets a 2-count. Blake sits on her shoulder, Jordynne stands up with her on her shoulder, and bounces her off the ropes for a suplex. They trade punches and forearms, Jordynne fires up, slams her into the turnbuckles, backslide into short-arm clotheslines, hits a back elbow, plants her with a spinebuster, and delivers the Jackhammer for a near-fall.
Jordynne grabs her by the legs, Blake grabs the bottom turnbuckle to hold on, rips the padding off as she’s pulled away, Jordynne slams her with the reverse Alabama Slam, followed by a German suplex with bridge and gets a 2-count. Blake counters a rollup, slams her down, locks in the bridging armbar, Jordynne counters with a crucifix pin for 2, Blake hits a running knee, and gets a near-fall. Jordynne counters her with a back drop, puts her in the electric chair, crosses the arms, and suplexes her with a bridge for 2. Blake counters her, hits the headbutt, Jordynne hits a back elbow, Blake headbutts her again, hits the running knee in the ropes, delivers the saito suplex, and gets another near-fall. Blake goes for a hurricanrana in the corner, but Jordynne counters with a sit-out powerbomb from the middle ropes, and gets 2.9! Blake trips her in the corner, stomps her into the exposed bottom turnbuckle, plants her with a double-underhook DDT, and covers for 3! WINNER: BLAKE MONROE!
We get a promo commercial for WWE Survivor Series on Saturday, November 29th in San Diego, California. We go to the trainer’s room with Jaida Parker complaining to the trainer about losing the match to Lola Vice. Lash Legend walks in to taunt her, and they almost start scrapping before they get separated.
Backstage, Fatal Influence are walking through the hall, Sarah Schreiber attempts to interview Jacy Jayne about her loss and gets verbally attacked. Jacy then berates Jazmyn Nyx for getting them ejected from ringside. Lola Vice shows up to remind her that she’s the #1 contender for her remaining title at No Mercy. Sol Ruca and Zaria show up to be her back up, and Zaria asks Sol how it feels to be the only double champion in WWE now that Jacy isn’t one anymore. Fatal Influence has heard enough and walk away.
We get another event announce as NXT Homecoming will be on Tuesday, September 16th as NXT takes place in Full Sail University! Coming up is the mixed tag team match.
* Tavion Heights & Tyra Mae Steele vs. Chelsea Green & Ethan Page {NXT North American Champion}
Tyra wants to start the match, but Chelsea doesn’t. Chelsea tries a sneak attack, but Tyra was ready and gives her a gator roll into a bow-and-arrow. Page runs in, but Heights stops him, and both Americans dump the Canadians out the ring to a chorus of boos. Now the crowd (in Massachusetts, USA by the way) chants “Canada! Canada! Canada!” Ethan and Chelsea get consoled by The Secret Hervice at ringside, he storms around the ring, tells Chelsea to break the ref’s count, then grabs a microphone to shout: “No matter how much you cheer for Canada, we are NOT giving you citizenship!!”
Ethan tags in, goes on offense against Tavion, and the crowd wants Chelsea. Ethan hits elbow drops, Tavion fights back, Ethan boots him in the face, beats him down, delivers a beautiful vertical suplex, then puts him in a chinlock. Tavion clotheslines him, both men are down, the crowd chants Chelsea’s name, and both men collide noggins. Chelsea dropkicks Tyra off the apron so that she can’t tag in, Ethan hits Tavion with the Confidence Breaker, and covers for 2. Chelsea tags in to an ovation, Tavion blocks a chop, Tyra spears Chelsea, takes her down, and catapults her into Page. Chelsea trips her onto the middle ropes, double knees to the back, shoves her into the bottom turnbuckle, and gets a 2-count. Both women miss a clothesline, and they both crossbody each other before hot tags.
Tavion clotheslines Page twice, overhead belly-to-belly suplex, mat slam, dead-lift Jackhammer, and covers for a near-fall. Chelsea kicks him in the back, Ethan kicks him, Tavion blocks the Twisted Grin, and they both boot each other in the faces. Tyra tags in, gives Page a gutwrench suplex, clotheslines Chelsea, spinebuster, Piper Niven jumps on the apron, Alba Fyre tries to save Page, but Tyra pulls them both for a German suplex to Page as he tosses Fyre in a fallaway! Tyra grabs Page for the ankle lock, Tavion tackles Page, Fyre superkicks Steele behind the ref’s back as he tends to the men, and Chelsea plants her with the Unpretty Her for 3!! WINNERS: ETHAN PAGE & CHELSEA GREEN!
The Canadian team win the match thanks to the Scottish team of The Secret Hervice. We get a reminder for the next WWE Worlds Collide between WWE and AAA coming up on Friday, September 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Oba Femi is getting ready for his match, when Josh Briggs walks in and he thinks the title reign is coming to an end. Briggs thinks that he is wearing down, and Femi says “I appreciate your insignificant opinions, now leave.” Briggs says if Je’Von can’t take the title from him, then he wants the next shot. “Champ, I’ll be watching tonight. Good luck.”
Sara Schreiber is in Ava’s office backstage to interview the NXT General Manager. Ava talks about the busy upcoming special with NXT Homecoming, No Mercy and Halloween Havoc all coming up, then she makes a groundbreaking announcement: Ava is officially bringing the men’s and women’s Speed Championships to NXT! With this, Zaria and the WWE Speed Women’s Champion Sol Ruca enter the office, and Ava tells Sol that she will be defending the Speed Women’s Title at No Mercy. Starting September 2nd, we’ll get a four-woman tournament with one representative from Raw or SmackDown, one from NXT, one from TNA, and one from AAA. Whoever wins will be her opponent at No Mercy.
Je’Von Evans is out first for the title match, less then 100% physically. Oba Femi struts to the ring next with the NXT Championship around his waist. Mike Rome does the proper title match introductions in the ring, Adrian Butler holds up the title, calls for the bell, and the main event is underway!

Evans side-steps and strikes, Femi catches his foot and trips him up, Evans with a waistlock and Femi throws him off followed by a shoulder block. Evans chops him, Femi shakes it off, Evans chops again, Femi sets up for a powerbomb, catches his foot, and Evans punches him. Evans counters a powerbomb, Femi blocks the springboar cutter, Evans lands on his feet, and Femi trucks him with a shoulder tackle. Femi tosses him in the corner, punches him in the gut, snapmare, kick to the injured back, Evans slides under the ropes, Femi catches him off a springboard, Evans escapes his grasp and superkicks him taking the champ off his feet!
Evans kicks him in the jaw, gets a 1-count, goes up top, Femi gets his knees up, Evans lands on his feet and stomps on his gut followed by a soccer kick. Evans bounces off the ropes for a hurricanrana, dropkicks him, Femi rolls out the ring, blocks a suicide dive grabbing him by the throat, Evans kicks him off, and Femi slaps him hard on the chest to knock him off the apron! Femi press slams him over the top rope back into the ring, kicks him down and stands on his chest and ribs, hits a gutbuster with one knee, press slam into a double-knee gutbuster, and covers for 2. Femi puts him in a modified camel clutch, Evans counters, Femi lands on him for a 2-count, stomps on his back, Evans hits an upkick, Femi plants him with a spinebuster and gets a near-fall.
Femi does a hammer throw into the turnbuckles to continue hurting his midsection, and also mocks him for being in pain. Evans gets a boot up in a corner, weakly fights back, comes back with harder shots, but Femi catches him with a backbreaker, then a choke slam, and covers for 2. Femi clubs him on the back to injure him more and more, Evans fires up, ducks swings and punches him over and over, gets tossed onto the apron, hits the springboard clothesline, hits the bouncy enzuigiri, another bouncy enzuigiri, and covers for 2. Femi picks him up, Evans counters with a swinging DDT, crawls up the turnbuckle, hits a floppy diving splash, and holds his left leg in pain. Evans refuses to quit, goes back up, and hits a proper frog splash for 1-2-NO!
Evans keeps fighting, Femi hits a big right, Evans punches him back, Femi hits a big boot, Evans side-steps him for a snap German suplex, but Femi is back up and hits a lariat! Femi hits a running European uppercut, another uppercut, then Evans catches him with a cutter, but Femi counters the springboard with an anti-air uppercut for a near-fall! “NXT! NXT! NXT!” Femi picks him up, walks up the ropes, Evans fights off, kicks him in the back, goes up the ropes, but Femi shoves him off into referee Butler! Evans pops back up for a hurricanrana, Femi blocks it, Evans hits the hurricanrana off the ropes, then counters the Fall From Grace with a mid-air cutter! Evans hits the SPRINGBOARD CUTTER, covers, now referee Derek Sanders is in the ring, and counts the 1-2-3… BUT NO!! Ref Butler is back up and spots Femi’s leg UNDER THE ROPE to break the count! Both referees agree to the no-call, and the match continues.
Femi rolls away from the twisting splash, picks him up, tosses him over the ropes and THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!!! Femi grabs his challenger, throws him back into the ring, plants him with the FALL FROM GRACE, and covers for the 1-2-3!!! WINNER and STILL NXT CHAMPION: OBA FEMI!!
Oba Femi is victorious in his NXT Championship title defense, and remains the champion. Ricky Saints heads out, walks past a fallen Je’Von Evens, and steps into the ring to get in the champ’s face! Oba Femi raises the title in his face, and Ricky mouths off to the champ that he wants to be the next contender. That’s all for WWE Heatwave!
