It’s time for another episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event! Live in Atlanta, Gunther will put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Goldberg in the Hall of Famer’s final match! Randy Orton takes on Drew McIntyre one-on-one. LA Knight looks for revenge as he takes on Seth Rollins! Also, Jimmy Uso challenges his lil’ bro Solo Sikoa for the United States Championship! Joe Tessitore welcomes us to Saturday Night’s Main Event once again as we see several superstars’ arrival into the building. We get the opening video package for Saturday Night’s Main Event, and then cue the pyro! At this point, Tessitore introduces Jesse “The Body” Ventura and they talk about tonight’s matches. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are the commentators for the event. Also, because it’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, that means Lilian Garcia is back to be the ring announcer! Jelly Roll accompanies Randy Orton to the ring to be in his corner and support him. Logan Paul walks out with Drew McIntyre to be ringside for this match. The referee Shawn Bennett is wearing an old school blue shirt.
* Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre
McIntyre beats him up in a corner to start the match, Orton reverses it for the 10-punch, clotheslines him out the ring, and stares down Logan Paul. McIntyre counters Orton and drops him on the announce table not once but twice. Jelly Roll looks worried as we take our first commercial break.
Orton is starting to fight back, but McIntyre regains control working over Orton’s injured back. McIntyre chops him on the chest, Orton no-sells it, clotheslines him, tosses hm onto the apron, McIntyre jumps over him, and Orton powerslams him. Orton catches him to suplex him onto the announce table three times! Orton chases Paul away, McIntyre takes advantage of the distraction, Orton catches him in the ropes for his vintage draping DDT! Orton calls for the finish, ready to strike, Logan Paul distracts him, and McIntyre hits the CLAYMORE for the 1-2-NO as Orton gets his foot on the bottom rope!
Jelly Roll and Logan Paul get face-to-face, Paul shoves him repeatedly, and Jelly shoves him on his ass! McIntyre chastises Jelly Roll for getting in his business, invites him in the ring to fight him, then turns his attention back to the match, picks Orton up to his feet, and Orton hits the RKO OUTTA NOWHERE!! 1-2-3!! WINNER: RANDY ORTON!
Logan Paul punches Orton post-match, gets on top for mounted punches, and Jelly Roll has seen enough as he slings Paul off of Orton, blocks a punch, and punches Paul! Jelly Roll checks on Orton, and McINTYRE HITS JELLY ROLL WITH THE CLAYMORE!!!! McIntyre shouts at Jelly Roll for “getting in his business” until SmackDown GM Nick Aldis and several agents and referees pull him back. Orton gets to his feet and checks on Jelly Roll as we take a break.
After the break, both General Managers Nick Aldis and Adam Pearce are in a shouting match with Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul backstage. We see Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky in the crowd as well as Rhea Ripley. The Queen of the Ring Jade Cargill is also in the crowd – Naomi attacks Jade from behind!! Naomi continues to attack Jade at ringside when several agents and referee run down to separate them. Jade gets a burst of energy, throws Naomi over the announce table, and she continues to get held back. Naomi gets up on the announce table and dives onto the large group of people! Jade gets in the ring, Naomi stands atop the announce table again, and GM Nick Aldis comes out to clear things up. Aldis announces the special guest referee for their No Holds Barred Match at Evolution tomorrow night – Bianca Belair!
Former WCW Head of Security Doug Dellinger (who used to accompany Goldberg through the halls) and Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page are also here in the crowd. Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are trying to recover from the carnage, and they bring us to a video package of Goldberg and his WCW career. Breaktime.
All of Solo’s MFTs head to the ring with him. Tonga Loa, Talla Tonga, and JC Mateo join the champ and stand in the ring to intimidate Big Jim. Referee Daphanie LaShaunn is the referee for this match.
* United States Championship: Jimmy Uso vs. Solo Sikoa {C}
Both brothers stare at each other for about a minute after the bell, and then they start fighting. This is Jimmy Uso’s first-ever one-on-one match for a singles title, and he makes the most of it by dumping Sikoa out the ring and takes him down with a suicide dive. Solo gets angry as he recovers, looks back his United States Title, gets back in the ring, Jimmy gets dumped on the apron, he fights back, but Solo catches him coming off the ropes with the Spinning Solo and only gets a 1-count. Jimmy kicks him in the head and a shoulder to the midsection, but Solo uppercuts him to knock him off the apron, and Talla Tonga clotheslines Jimmy behind the ref’s back before a commercial break.
When we come back, Solo is in control with both men on the apron, Jimmy blocks a suplex, they trade punches, Solo shoves him into the ringpost, Jimmy superkicks him, and delivers a German suplex right on the apron! Jimmy hits a diving crossbody off the top for a 2-count, hits the running hip attack, goes up top, lands the USO SPLASH, and covers for 1-2-KICKOUT!! Solo counters the spear with a kick, hits the Spinning Solo again, Jimmy ducks the Samoan Spike, hits two superkicks, goes back up top, Solo rolls out the ring, so Jimmy hits the Uso in the Wind onto Solo and JC Mateo! Jimmy ducks a big boot, superkicks Talla, kicks him in the chest, Solo rolls Jimmy up with help from Talla, and gets the 3-count. WINNER and STILL UINITED STATES CHAMPION: SOLO SIKOA!!
Talla attacks Jimmy after the bell, then Tonga Loa and JC Mateo join in on the beatdown. The MFTs all hold him up, Solo hits the SAMOAN SPIKE, and out comes Jacob Fatu!!! “The Samoan Werewolf is back!” Jacob fights off Tonga Loa and JC Mateo with corner splashes and running hip attacks, he stares at Talla Tonga as he steps over the top rope, he makes the first strike, but Talla hits the big boot with his long leg. Jacob lowers the ropes for Talla to fall over, he hits the suicide dive to Solo and Talla, and he gets back in the ring as Jimmy recovers.
We get another video package for Goldberg and his career in WWE. After a commercial break, we recap the situation with Orton, McIntyre, Paul and Jelly. We get an interview with Orton apologizing to Jelly Roll for having him in harm’s way. Jelly wants to fight both men, and Orton makes a challenge for SummerSlam with both men. (He even calls themselves R-K-Roll.)
Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner are shown both in the crowd before this next match. Paul Heyman comes down with Seth “Freakin” Rollins holding the Money in the Bank briefcase. Jessika Carr is the assigned referee for this match.
* Seth Rollins {Mr. Money in the Bank} vs. LA Knight
Rollins hides in the ropes, gets in a cheap shot, Knight fights back, Rollins punches him in the gut, Knight hits a back elbow, but he can’t do a big move with hurt ribs. Knight blocks the Pedigree, Rollins blocks the BFT, Knight sends him out the ring and dropkicks him through the ropes with no pain. Knight slams Seth’s head on the announce table, gets on the top, clotheslines him off the table, and we take a break.
Rollins applies a body scissors when we come back, and Knight elbows him in the face to break the hold. Knight fights back, Rollins picks him up for a gutbuster, lands the diving frog splash, and gets a near-fall. Knight fights back again, Rollins kicks him in the gut, Knight avoids the stomp, clotheslines him, side-steps him in a corner, hits the jumping neckbreaker, followed by a DDT, gets on the middle ropes, pops up for a diving elbow drop and gets a 2-count. Knight stomps him down in a corner, hits a running knee strike, Rollins blocks the BFT, goes up top, Knight cuts him off, chops him, Rollins headbutts him, then Knight pops up to the top for a superplex, but Rollins counters with the Buckle Bomb! Knight avoids the stomp again, Rollins superkicks him, gets on the apron, hits a springboard senton, goes for the springboard moonsault but lands on his feet as Knight rolls away, and Rollins is selling the right knee from the landing.
The action comes to a halt as Rollins is down in a corner talking to Paul Heyman, referee Jessika Carr, and the ringside doctor. Michael Cole speculates that Rollins had twisted his knee. Rollins get to his feet, Knight hits the BFT, and gets the 3-count. WINNER: LA KNIGHT!
That seemed like a quick way to end the match for a legit injury. Even LA Knight looks peeved at the way that ended. We get a replay of the landing from the springboard moonsault and it’s possible Seth Rollins tweaked his right knee.
We get a video package for Goldberg and Gunther leading up to the main event. After a commercial break, we see Akbar from Ninja Warrior is in the crowd, as well as NXT’s Blake Monroe and NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne. Cole and Barrett run down the card for tomorrow night’s WWE Evolution. Our second match for SummerSlam has been announced: Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre. Hometown rapper 2 Chainz is then spotted in the crowd.
It’s now time for the main event. “The Ring General” Gunther heads to the ring first with the World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, avoiding every fan trying to reach out in the entranceway. Goldberg is beckoned out of his locker room surrounded by the former WCW Head of Security, his son Gage, and Ernest “The Cat” MIller! The WCW legend and WWE Hall of Famer heads to the ring for his final match before a commercial break. When we come back, Lilian Garcia is in the middle of the ring to do the proper title match introductions complete with drop-down microphones. Referee Charles Robinson holds up the championship, calls for the bell, and the main event is underway!
* World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther {C} vs. Goldberg
The fans chant Goldberg’s name before they move, they lock up collar-and-elbow, and Goldberg shoves him down. Gunther puts him in the side headlock, Goldberg hits a shoulder block, and Gunther takes a moment. Gunther chops him, Goldberg laughs it off, Gunther chops him again, Goldberg no-sells it, Gunther kicks him in the midsection, and Goldberg clotheslines him. Goldberg beats him down in a corner, short-arm shoulder block, Gunther counters the suplex with a kick to the knee and a clothesline, goes up top, but Goldberg throws him down off. Gunther exits the ring to avoid the spear, Goldberg is hot pursuit, Gunther chops him hard on the chest and this time Goldberg feels it, Gunther side-steps him, and Goldberg crashes through the barricade!! We get a replay of Goldberg taking himself out before our final commercial break.
Gunther works over Goldberg’s left leg in a leglock when we come back, and Goldberg fights him off. Both men trade chops to their chests, Gunther kicks him in the knee to drop him, Goldberg fights back, Gunther kicks him in the knee again, Goldberg catches his leg and plants him with a spinebuster. Goldberg hits body shots in the corner, Gunther chops him, Goldberg beats him down in a corner and limps back. Gunther sets up for a powerbomb, Goldberg counters with a back body drop, Gunther side-steps him and Goldberg SPEARS referee Charles Robinson!!
Gunther attacks the leg again, kicks him in the back, removes Goldberg’s protective knee brace, and whacks him on the knee and the back of the head with it. Gunther taunts with the knee brace walking around ringside towards Goldberg’s son and shoves him, making security hold him back. Gunther gets back in the ring, Goldberg hits the SPEAR, then delivers the JACKHAMMER!! Referee Shawn Bennett runs down to the ring, Goldberg makes the cover, and gets the 1-2-KICKOUT!!! Gunther locks in the SLEEPER on him, Goldberg is fading, tries to get back up, but Gunther brings him back down and chokes him out! WINNER and STILL WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: GUNTHER!!!
Gunther retains the World Heavyweight Championship! That’s it, the last match of Goldberg’s career ends in defeat.
