Ian’s Post-Dynasty Dynamite Recap

AEW

Tonight is the first Dynamite after an action-packed Dynasty that delivered right up to the main event! But unfortunately not through it! Mox is still the champion, after the Young Bucks returned to cost Swerve in a move that can only be described as “At least they didn’t return as faces, because that wouldn’t make any fucking sense.” Tonight, we’ll see more first round action in the Owen Hart Cup Tournaments, we’ll hear from Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm, and we’ll see the new TNT Champion, Adam Cole!

Backstage, Jon Moxley, flanked by the Death Riders, says that AEW has the most talented roster ever assembled, but they can’t get their act together. He says he hasn’t recognized the Young Bucks in a long time, but they’re in over their heads.

As Moxley’s leaving, the Bucks come out. After a brief staredown and some jawing from Moxley off-mic, he and Shafir leave.

The Bucks grab a mic and hype Moxley and themselves. Nick says they had a couple good reasons why they did what they did on Sunday: first, they did it for Hangman; Matt then says it was also a peace offering. He says they have more in common than they think, they both want to see the roster step up. He says the Death Riders have succeeded in the takeover that The Elite failed, but maybe they can work together. He then invites them back out. Instead, they get Kenny Omega. He reminds them of the attack they laid on him last time they were in the same place, but says that he had forgiven them. He says he tried to ignore them, comparing them to two shih-tzus who keep shitting on the floor until you can’t ignore it anymore. He’s also clearly forgetting his lines. He finally just cuts to the end and challenges them to a fight, but Okada comes out. Before the three-on-one can begin, Swerve comes out. The Elite bail.

Kenny cedes the ring to Swerve, who says it’s Buck hunting season, before PAC attacks him from behind.

Match Two: Swerve Strickland vs. PAC

Match begins after a commercial, PAC has apparently been beating Swerve down the whole time, bell rings and Swerve comes out swinging, Snake Eyes, big boot, PAC to the floor, Swerve boots him from the apron, toss into the barricade, toss into a different part of the barricade, then into the steps, both men try to get back in the ring, PAC with a shoulder tackle, hurricanrana, reversed into a buckle bomb, Swerve with a snapmare, top rope spinning elbow, foot choke, the ref checks on PAC on the floor, PAC climbs back into the ring, Swerve catches him with an immediate superkick, Swerve Stomp for three.

With the way they clearly called an audible and rushed the finish, tonight’s Dynamite seems downright cursed.

The bad guy squad for tonight’s 8-man tag argue over who is the captain, while Team Upstanding Citizens just salivate over the prize money.

They run through the Owen Cups so far.

Backstage, Hangman goes looking for Swerve. He finds Prince Nana and tells him to tell Swerve that he wasn’t looking to help Swerve on Sunday, and he doesn’t want anything to do with him. He says that Jericho is one of the all-time greats, and that’s why he joined him. He then says he draws the line at being Jericho’s punching bag when things go wrong. He says he’s up for a lesson if Jericho has one, but not a public haranguing. He says Bryan Keith feels the same way, but Jericho says that’s not what this is about. He says they all win and lose together, and says he doesn’t blame Big Bill for not being there Sunday for Jericho’s match. Jericho then says he’s not disappointed. He points the bat at his proteges and says until that changes, it’s best if he leaves.

Backstage, The Hurt Syndicate continue to discuss MJF, and Shelton Benjamin admits he finds him amusing. After the other two leave, MJF confronts MVP and asks what’s wrong with the other two.
