Ian’s Wrestledream Go-Home Dynamite Recap

AEW

Tonight is the final Dynamite before 2025’s Wrestledream! Darby Allin and Jon Moxley will have their final face-to-face. Toni Storm and Kris Statlander will have their final chance to interact, as will Hangman Page and Samoa Joe. Also, maybe Takeshita is the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion? I don’t know, I’m watching the end of that match as I type this, that’s why this is starting so late. And where the hell is Andrade?

Dynamite opens with a backstage interview with Toni Storm and Kris Statlander. Before anyone actually starts talking, Renee gets fed up with the weird sexual innuendo and yells at them to just focus. Storm says she thought it would be freeing to lose the championship, but she was wrong. Stat says Toni needs to remember who she’s always been, but that Toni can’t figure her out because she’s always changing. They get in each other’s faces, then invite each other to meet in the ring. They immediately head out to the ring and start brawling. Storm offers a free shot with the belt, Stat doesn’t take it, they resume brawling. It ends with Toni kissing Stat on the forehead.

Backstage, Jack Perry says he doesn’t hate the Bucks, and he’ll always be grateful for their help, but they ghosted him when he needed them most.

He offers Darby to join the Death Riders, and Darby says he’s thought about it plenty, because he believes in the cause, but he can’t tolerate Moxley as a leader, especially after what he did to Bryan Danielson. Mox says he did the best he could, and tried to do right by Danielson, but this is about the future. He says it’s not easy for him. Darby says AEW represents freedom, that’s what he saw at the top of Everest, but Moxley is chipping that away. He says he’s going to choke Moxley with that flag, and the Death Riders will see that he’s not worth following. Mox says he’s never lied to Darby, but Darby’s opponent has never been Moxley, everything Darby does is to fight his own ghosts, which Moxley knows all too well. He says it’s a selfish game.
