Ian’s Kenny Omega Coronation Dynamite Recap (In Progress)

AEW

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! Kenny Omega is once again AEW World Champion! He’s pretty much guaranteed to be here tonight, but what about the former champion, MJF? And the #1 Contender for All In, Will Ospreay? Meanwhile, Hangman is back, and he’s declared that he has his sights set on all the other singles championships he’s still allowed to win. Who will be in his sights?

Dynamite opens with a run-down of tonight’s card, followed by Jon Moxley giving the Death Riders a pep talk. He tells Will Ospreay that most of the hard work is done, and that he already has what it takes to keep going when it gets tough, which most people don’t. He says he just needs to keep in mind that he needs to go in for the kill, regardless of the target.

After a commercial, Renee asks the Conglomeration about their future. Cassidy says now would be the perfect time for someone to walk in and challenge them, and The Demand oblige. While they’re trash talking, Lethal Swirl attack the champs.

After a commercial, Tony Schiavone welcomes Kenny Omega to the ring. The Bucks come out, congratulate him, and reveal the original AEW Men’s World Championship. Kenny says it was so long since he’d held the championship that he wasn’t sure he could do it again. He says his extended family, including all his fans, are what got him back. He says fans can expect the best version of Kenny Omega at All In.

Will Ospreay comes out. He says it’s nice to see the Bucks have rebounded after losing their EVP status, but asks if he can talk to Kenny alone. He says he thought Kenny had given up on himself, even though everyone still believed in him. He says Kenny proved he’s back to full form last week, but this is also Will Ospreay in full form. He invites Kenny to show the world that AEW really is where the best wrestle.

Kevin Knight comes out, congratulates Kenny, but says he’s still owes a world title shot. He challenges him for Redemption. Kenny says MJF’s promises don’t apply, but maybe he’ll give him a shot anyway, because he can see the potential in Kevin Knight. He says it’s been harder to see since Knight joined forces with Don Callis, but he’d be a hypocrite if he held that against Knight too badly. He says Knight needs to figure out that he doesn’t need Callis. He says that, despite Knight calling MJF a fraud, MJF lives up to his word, but Knight is pretending to be someone he’s not by playing the bad guy. He challenges Knight to bring The Jet to Redemption. Knight says Kenny’s wrong, there’s no goodness left in his heart. He attacks Kenny, but Darby Allin emerges from the shadows and attacks Knight, until the Don Callis Family b-team intervene. Ospreay and Omega dare them to jump, and the Death Riders come out to even the numbers, much to Kenny’s confusion.
