Ian’s Dynasty Go-Home Dynamite Recap

AEW

Tonight, it’s the final Dynamite before Dynasty! Card’s looking a little slim; every match announced so far looks like a banger, but you know there are still more of them to come! What will they be? Find out!

Dynamite opens with Will Ospreay single-handedly brawling with all of the Death Riders in the car park. Once it becomes clear how bad that’s going, an SUV pulls up, and Alex Windsor gets out, quickly accompanied by most of the United Empire. The Empire get the upper hand, and Shafir and Windsor brawl into the arena, followed by everyone else. The brawl continues in the ring for some time until the Death Riders finally retreat. Ospreay grabs a mic and says he took Mox’s advice and used his head: He went to Japan and got his boys. He challenges them for the main event tonight.

The announce team fills us in on Kyle Fletcher’s condition, before throwing it back to Don Callis who announces that Fletcher will be out of action, and reiterates Tony Khan’s earlier announcement that the TNT Championship will be on the line in a Casino Gauntlet at Dynasty. He says he was planning Protokada vs. The Young Bucks for Dynasty, but now he’s had to pivot to a new surprise. He then says that Okada and Takeshita will never have the blow-off match everyone wants to see them have, because the Don Callis Family doesn’t need everyone to get along, so everything is fine.

He says he’s taken a lot of risks in his career, including going all in on AEW, but it’s paid off. He says not every risk has paid off, but no one bats a hundred. They show a video package for Kenny Omega. Tony Schiavone then welcomes Omega to the ring. Kenny talks about how seminal the Alberta independent scene was to his early career, then admits that he almost lost his cool last week. He says it wasn’t the Ibushi thing, or the diverticulitis thing, and that it should have been MJF who lost his cool realizing all he could do was talk, but Kenny lost his cool because he realized AEW isn’t solely his responsibility, and it’s actually Kenny who lost his cool realizing the AEW World Champion isn’t the best wrestler. He says that the responsibility is what motivates him now.

MJF comes out, says Kenny’s getting ahead of himself because he’s not better than MJF anymore. He says this will be Kenny’s last shot at the AEW World Championship because the clock is ticking. He says Kenny will have no excuse when he loses this time. He says Kenny isn’t on the level of the Devil, and everyone eventually finds out that MJF is better than them, and they know it. Kenny responds that he learns a little more about MJF every time they speak together in the ring. He says MJF cares more about honouring the championship than he lets on, and he’s pretty sure MJF would even honour the tradition of shaking his challenger’s hand. He offers MJF a handshake, MJF turns him down, then goes to take a swing, but Kenny ducks and hits a knee. Kenny says MJF is predictable, then takes his Dynamite Diamond Ring. He says Dynasty won’t go the way it always does, and the end of the broadcast will be Kenny bidding the crowd goodnight and goodbye. Dynamite goes off the air with Kenny standing tall.
