Tonight is the final Dynamite before the… not quite a PPV that is Grand Slam Dynamite! Swerve and Kenny Omega meet in the ring with mics in hand, while Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander and Thekla meet with each other in hand, and the gold on the line!
Dynamite opens with Tony Schiavone, who welcomes Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland. Schiavone mentions the slow-brewing tension between the two of them, then asks Swerve about it. Swerve talks about how Kenny was on top of the world five years ago, and everyone wanted to join AEW to face him. He then expresses disappointment at the fact that, by the time he himself made it to AEW and reached the top, Kenny wasn’t around nearly as much anymore. He then insinuates that Kenny might be using his EVP status to get back to the top. Kenny responds by saying that he never called himself the god of professional wrestling, the fans bestowed that on him, but he takes it seriously. He says he wants to cut this off now and have a match. Kenny then says Swerve isn’t the most dangerous man in AEW, right now that’s Brody King. Swerve threatens to hospitalize Kenny permanently, and Kenny responds by slapping him. Swerve says whatever happens next is on Kenny, then starts a brawl. The brawl makes its way into and through the crowd, up on the stage, Kenny hits a v-trigger against the video board, One Winged Angel, blocked when Swerve stabs Kenny in the head with an unidentified object, spears him off the stage through a table.
