Tonight is the first Dynamite since All In 2025! AEW’s best PPV? I’m not sure, there are a couple other strong contenders in there, but it’s definitely up there. There’s a new World Champion, the undefeated streak of Mercedes Mone has come to an end, and Adam Copeland is back and looks to be courting reconciliation with Christian Cage! How will those situations fall out tonight? And will we get more clarification on how and when the Casino Gauntlet winners will get their title shot? All this as AEW and NJPW move toward Forbidden Door next month in London!
Dynamite opens with Tony Schiavone welcoming Hangman, and his World Championship belt, to the ring. The crowd chants “You deserve it”, and Hangman says that may be missing the point, and it should really be Hangman telling them that they deserve it. The crowd chants “We deserve it” in response. He says that the fans are the ones who demanded a fully realized version of professional wrestling, and they started a revolution. He says he walked into a war of a hundred battles on Saturday to free the championship, and he needs to thank all of the people who fought the battle with him, because some of them didn’t come out the same. After listing a number of people, he thanks Will Ospreay in detail, and finally, though he acknowledges that he doesn’t know why he did it, Swerve Strickland. He says that he’s shed a lot of tears, but anyone who thinks that makes him less of a man doesn’t have what he has in his family, and in the love of the fans. But most of all, “You can look at me and know that I am the champion of the fuckin’ world!”
